Pay for security??? One can't pay more than the Cartel does to kill!!!

It would seem candidates need to pay for much better security.

A death wish would be running at all in the first place.

Poor Mexico is dealing with the results of the American war on drugs. If the profit was not there for the black market, the cartels would not have the money and power they do.

Why can't Mexico control their own territory?

Mexico - Incredibly dangerous and awful country. Zero rule of law - and sadly very little value for life.

RIP to this poor woman.

Only a man with the charisma and determination of a Fidel Castro can clean up poor Mexico's blood-soaked mess - "so far from God and so close to the United States", as the old Mexican lament goes.

At least 14 candidates have been killed since the start of 2024.

Jesus that's insane. Mexico was a much mellower and laidback country back in the 70s and 80s when I used to go there a lot. Even more so in the 60s and 50s when my older relatives used to go.

Corruption has always existed there but these violent, gory and numerous executions and killings is something more akin to the last twenty years.

That quote was made by someone that actually lived in a time when there was a legitimate grievance with the US. Clown AMLO does not. Admiration for Castro noted, however.

Mexico needs their own version of the Untouchables that go after the mafia

Mexico is a failed state run by drug gangs. They are way past police arresting them. They would need to treat them like the Islamic state and take them out with military firepower from the US. That won't happen. The US have other priorities. That said, America might want to consider that taking them out now, in Mexico, would be easier and less messy than trying to do it when they cross the border and expand into the US.
