Donald Trump has, at various times, blamed the Democratic leadership, threatened to send in federal troops and breezily called the problem "very easily fixable."

Trump as always blaming someone else. 'Otherguys did it.'

'...very easily fixable...'

Then why hasn't he done anything about it? Most likely he and his followers will blame Obamahillarylibsleftdems, the 'media' and of course apparitions in the deep state.

Trump the politician knows any attempt to take on gun problems in Chicago or anywhere else would incur the wrath of some of his staunchest supporters, the NRA, the guns and ammo industries, gun hobbyists, and the terminally scared gun carriers.

This problem could be easily solved by young college grads with progressive ideas. They should move into the area and open many coffee shops where people could talk over their problems with hot drinks. They could even offer free comfort cookies in exchange for guns. The guns could be sold and the money could be used to fund free coffee days.

No, the problems of Chicago lay with Emanuel and the Democrat led Chicago legislators of that city and their lack of willingness to aggressively go after the gangs or implement stop and search tactics to weed out and bring these violent gangs to their knees. These politicians don’t care that these thugs have completely overruled and are overrunning the city.

Not true, everyone knows Chicago is a cesspool of violence and the derelict and irresponsible leadership of the politicians in Chicago over the last 60 has proven zero results to bringing a stop to the out of control violence. But sadly, the people vote these idiot racist politicians in again and again...smh.

This has no basis in reality.

Where's your proof they are racist?

It would seem most Democrats haven’t.

Where's your proof they are racist?

Look at the city, the demographics, the people, the Democrats want and need their votes and after that, nothing. For over 60 years the Democrats haven’t done anything to better the lives of its mostly Black citizens, just like with the illegal aliens. Democrats want and need their votes, but don’t move near me or encroach anywhere near my neighborhood.

It would seem most Democrats haven’t.

To a hyperpartisan, it would. Hyperpartisans prefer what they make up over reality.

This is not proof that the leaders of Chicago are racist; it's a rant from a hyperpartisan.

"If they get 100 or 1,000, others are still out there. As soon as the police pick up the guns, they'll just go and get them somewhere else."

With guns so easily available, that's the sad reality of this inordinately complex, uniquely American problem.

Given all that's involved in these problems, they become even more complex when foreign nations meddle.

Why would Russians want to cozy up to the NRA, an organization that claims to be pro-USA?

Could it be the guns and ammo industry's profits trump nation?

Maria Butina, an accused Russian spy who nuzzled up to the National Rifle Association before the 2016 election, has begun cooperating with federal prosecutors

They definitely do care about the Blacks living there at all, that’s a fact.

Why would the Democrats cozy up to the Iranians? Come on, you guys are just digging that hole deeper.

Could it be the guns and ammo industry's profits trump nation.

Maybe people are worried now more than ever that the Dems want to wipe out the 2nd amendment. Well, there’s always Republic-Washington

Some of the black neighborhoods on Chicago's South Side are not too bad, but others are quite dangerous. A friend of mine was shot in the stomach while taking a leak with his brother, my friend survived but his brother died from his wounds. It happened in the restroom of a public park (on the South Side). Did you do something or say something to the guy (a black teenager) who shot you? He said, "Nothing at all! We never saw the guy before he came in to the restroom and started shooting at us with a handgun. It was completely random." Other areas on the South Side are so bad that the ambulances won't go in without a police escort because the receive false call and are then robbed at gunpoint for the drugs they've got.

Don't go to the South Side of Chicago unless you know exactly where you're going. Whatever you do, don't get lost there. Lots of guns, lots of gangs and lots of violence. At the same time, there are also some very fine black people who live there as well.

By not denying the FACT that the Russians cozied up to the NRA, pro-Trump supporters admit it was acceptable for them to have done so. NRA trumps nation.

But that's consistent; many Trump supporters have long lauded Putin's 'strongman leadership'. After all, he's pro-gun, claims to be a Christian and a 'conservative'.

If Trump would release his most current tax info, we might learn which guns and ammo (and big war and big oil) corporations he's invested in. And what dealings he's had with Russian oligarchs and gangs

I’m sorry, but what does Trump taxes have to do with Chicago?

PDT makes for useful "Look! A squirrel!" moments.

Because, you know, the violence in Chi-raq started in January 2016. It was as peaceful as a senior citizens home before that.

Those who battle this daily in the 6th District see it much differently. Guns not only shatter families, they determine what time people leave their houses, the streets and stores they avoid, whether a church should have a metal detector, even whether a Ferris wheel operator feels it's safe enough to install a ride for a festival.

Residents in the community often know who's behind shootings — there've been nearly 600 since 2016 — but the threat of gang retaliation has created an almost impenetrable code of silence. Many of the guns police seize belong to repeat offenders, who may be back on the street in days.

.....The 6th District polices 30 different gang factions, each with anywhere from 20 to 100 members, that account for 75 percent of the area's gun violence. The gang presence is so ordinary, the turf so defined, that everyone from pastors to grade-schoolers can tell you, for instance, which streets are controlled by the Killer Ward faction and which are run by the G-Ville faction of the Gangster Disciples.

.....But the gun problem isn't limited to gangs. A recent Urban Institute survey of young people in four neighborhoods with high levels of violence, including Auburn Gresham, found half the young men had carried a gun, though for most it wasn't routine. Protection was the overwhelming reason.

"A lot of these guys are carrying weapons because they're scared," he says. "They feel that they cannot leave their house, go to work, whatever, unless they have a gun. They feel that at any time someone can be shooting at them and the gun — it makes them feel like they have a chance, which in my world is, 'Are you kidding me?' But that is the reality."

It's people like Rev. Michael Pfleger, and the Democrats who have controlled the city of Chicago for decades, who demand that the police stop arresting their constituants who illegally use guns, and insist that it's the guns which create the violent gangs. According the FBI, there are more gang members per capita in Chicago than there are in any other city in the U.S.. The Chicago police department knows who the gang maembers, and where they live. Tell the Pflegers and Chicago city Mayors to get out of the way, and let the police do their job.
