Well, Stephen Colbert just said, "The red wave was more like a pink splash- kinda like when you accidentally wash your klan robe with your maga hat"..

While Trump has not officially launched a third White House campaign, the former president has strongly suggested he will do so and is planning a "special announcement" at his Florida club on Tuesday.

Trump is finished, he cannot escape responsibility for this debacle and his many other serious blunders and personal short-comings (to put it mildly). It will be DeSantis for Team Red in 2024. DeSantis can clearly appeal to the establishment wing, the MAGA sorts and to independent voters of all ethnicities based on his crushing victory in Florida and will be a tough nut to crack for Team Blue.

Trump lambasted DeSantis in a statement on Thursday, taking credit for the governor's political rise, while attacking critics on his social media site, Truth Social.

Both Trump and Elon Musk need some good news, so maybe they are coordinating Trump's big announcement with an abandonment of the Truth social ghost town and a triumphant return to Twitter?

Kari Lake, the Republican gubernatorial candidate in Arizona, has criticized election officials in Maricopa County, the state's most populous, as "incompetent" and "despicable," accusing them of deliberately delaying the vote counting.

Having so many machines not working in select areas is very suspicious. It's either extreme incompetency or they really are up to no good.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

The Republicans will only have a 4 seat advantage the house,it will last less than a ,a year at best due too death, health and criminal arrest

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

The most advanced technical country always has a vote with the simple task of counting votes. If they were digital votes the counting would already be over.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Perhaps Arizona did not hire enough people to count the ballots?

One of the things to remember, there are more than just one or two races on a ballot in many (all?) states. For example, there might also be voting for races for state offices, changes to the state's constitution, as well as propositions. And don't forget voting on whether to raise sales and other taxes

Then there are in-person ballots, absentee ballots, and mail-in ballots.

Counting ballots takes time.

Digital voting may speed up in-person voting either at the polls or at the county election office, but I still see a delay as a result of counting mail-in ballots and some absentee ballots.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Hanging chads were not digital votes.

All votes can be digital including mail-in and absentee.

Where’s the Red wave? Perhaps the GQP is going through political menopause?

They haven’t locked down the house and looks like they let the Senate slip through Mitch’s grasp (again)….

Kind Donald sure has the ex-lax touch, doesn’t he?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Instead of crying and whining about fraud because they lost, the Republican Party needs to take a long hard look at itself in the mirror.

There is only one clear conclusion from this week's election...

The Dems and the RINOs essentially broke even...

Trump and his hand-selected MAGA-idiot candidates were crushed...

At current count, 18 were defeated by their Dem opponents...

And we have no better evidence of this than The Donald having a meltdown at Mar-A-Lago...."fuming" and "livid"....

And today, after insulting "Ron Desanctimonious" yesterday, went after VA Gov Glen Youngkin...another GOP Gov who knows how to win....

Fresh off a diatribe against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whom he derisively described as an “average” Republican in a Thursday social media post, former President Donald Trump on Friday morning went after another popular Republican governor — Glenn Youngkin of Virginia — in what seemed like a warning meant to dissuade him from seeking the presidency in 2024.

“Young Kin (now that’s an interesting take. Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, his proprietary social media network. It is not clear why he falsely insinuated that Youngkin was of Chinese ancestry

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-glenn-youngkin-truth-social-post-desantis-171849060.html

Now that's bizarre, even for Trump - suggesting Youngkin is Chinese? Wow....

Donald is the Dems best mouthpiece - even better than Bernie - at trashing his fellow Repubs...

Go Donald! Thanks for helping elect more Dems!

Wallace, most Americans are moving on too the holidays,by not inviting their MAGA relative to their holidays dinners

Well, Stephen Colbert just said,

Isn't he that sanctimonious bore who identifies as a comedian?

Keep in mind that his side still lost. Just by less than most were expecting.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Donald is the Dems best mouthpiece

Truth. And all those diehard supporters...silly as they are...they were the engine that drove the Trump machine for the Democrats. Thank you, you idiots!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

despite all this. Republicans won the house, still have a solid chance at taking the senate and got 5 million more votes than Dems.

and Nancy and Paul (remember him?) will be leaving the country after she hands over a gavel.

Well, Stephen Colbert just said, "The red wave was more like a pink splash- kinda like when you accidentally wash your klan robe with your maga hat"..

As if Colbert knows politics! Lol

Hmmm…apparently, he’s unaware that if you don’t have money, you can’t buy anything you can’t do anything, you’re just there. It will be nice to see how Biden has to bend the knee to ask for a few bucks

Just flipped Nevada governor.

who won? and look at all the complaints about who trump chose, he can’t win, etc.

No big red wave. Usual change of congress at midterms. Trump loses his spot. DeSantis is the new poster boy who Trump fears and has been slagging him off.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

despite all this. Republicans won the house, still have a solid chance at taking the senate and got 5 million more votes than Dems.

As if Colbert knows politics! Lol

So, let's try again today....

DeWine, Kemp, Ivey, Thune, Rubio....if it wasn't for the RINOs the Repubs would have been crushed...

So was this a "win" for Team Red? Are you going to accept and applaud all these RINO wins when you consistently said they all ought to be defeated and run out of the party - as "traitors"?

And how about Raffensberger's win in Georgia - he's a Repub - is that a "win"?

No big red wave. Usual change of congress at midterms. Trump loses his spot. DeSantis is the new poster boy who Trump fears and has been slagging him off.

Giant red wave. Dems lost the House. Florida is all red. Trump is even stronger.

White women voted Republican despite the abortion issue. Non-US citizens are not aware of these facts.

USA!

MAGA!!

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

DeWine, Kemp, Ivey, Thune, Rubio....if it wasn't for the RINOs the Repubs would have been crushed...

None of those people are relevant. Only 2 are in Congress and both in safe red states where any Republican would have won.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

and Nancy and Paul (remember him?) will be leaving the country after she hands over a gavel.

lol What are you talking about? She just won and ran reelection. This is indicative of how ill-informed your average rightist is.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

No big red wave. Usual change of congress at midterms.

No, Biden doesn’t have a mandate, nor money or even a majority.

Trump loses his spot.

No, if he did, the RNC wouldn’t back that’s why they are begging him to wait until all this is over

DeSantis is the new poster boy who Trump fears and has been slagging him off.

DeSantis never even hinted at running. He’s more than content with being in Florida governing that state.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

If anyone thinks these are great results, and these are the results the right expected, one needs look no further than Ben Shapiro and Charlie Kirk. This was a flop.

How misinformed you are. She lost the House majority in the election she “ran” and is begging Biden to be ambassador to Italy now.

Florida is not "all red." Democrats have 8 seats in the house, including my own county Broward.

Trump is bad-mouthing DeSantis. Conservative commentators turned on former President Donald Trump after he attacked Ron DeSantis on Saturday.

agondoczToday  08:23 am JST

Perhaps Arizona did not hire enough people to count the ballots?

Republicans have gotten a court order requiring that all ballots in some counties be counted by hand and not be counted by machines. They're intentionally trying to delay the vote to stir up more conspiracy nonsense.

Arizona voting is very strict already. Signatures must be matched, SSN verified and matched for name citizenship, legal status to vote (citizenship and felony convictions, etc.) must be verified, address verified against voter registration, ID at polling station matching registration.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

How misinformed you are. She lost the House majority in the election she “ran” and is begging Biden to be ambassador to Italy now.

lol Nope. She just won reelection. Keep talking.

Broward is not your county. You own no property there, are not a registered American voter, and live in Japan.

Trump bad mouths everyone. All of America knows that. Lefty news sites drum up Trump hyperbolic stories so that people looking for headline news have something to grip onto.

So which is it, a "win" for Team Red including all these hated RINOs you called "traitors" or a defeat for the 18 MAGA candidates that lost?

Instead of crying and whining about fraud because they lost, the Republican Party needs to take a long hard look at itself in the mirror

It was a disastrous showing by the Republicans if you look at the past results of midterms.

Those claiming or insinuating election fraud are sounding beyond pathetic now.

Republicans need to look to their grown-ups who are mature, rational and intelligent enough to do the postmortem and look forward. The Democrats will be hoping that doesn’t happen.

Trump lambasted DeSantis in a statement on Thursday, taking credit for the governor's political rise, while attacking critics on his social media site, Truth Social

I saw some of Trump’s meltdowns from truth social.

DeSantis has got him really wound up…

2 ( +6 / -4 )

DeSantis never even hinted at running. He’s more than content with being in Florida governing that state.

Why is Trump slagging off DeSantis? Do you have a direct communications link to DeSantis?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The script has been written, and the stage prepared. The Florida governor will play the part that's waiting for him in 2024. Half the age of Trump.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

If anyone thinks these are great results,

Keeping the purse and Biden away from taxpayer money, it’s a huge win.

Why is Trump slagging off DeSantis?

I’m not clairvoyant.

Do you have a direct communications link to DeSantis?

Do you?

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Biden's $1 trillion bipartisan bill already went into law.

JimizoToday  10:20 am JST

It was a disastrous showing by the Republicans if you look at the past results of midterms.

It is interesting hearing what non-US citizens think about the US political system.

Actually, past results have zero relevance with current elections. There is no cause and effect.

It is understandable that spending time in the basement drumming up conspiracy theories might cause one to latch onto this false theory though.

Those claiming or insinuating election fraud are sounding beyond pathetic now.

Like Stacey Abrams? (look her up). She lost again. In Georgia. It is a big state north of Florida.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Keeping the purse and Biden away from taxpayer money, it’s a huge win.

Oh yes, I'm sure forcing the average American into austerity so the rich can get richer will lead to them keeping the house, and then taking the Whitehouse. ;)

so strict they just put uncounted votes into a location with counted votes.

Get ready for the Great Repub Civil War....

*Trump Ready To 'Burn It All Down' If He Doesn't Get His Way With GOP*

*The Republican Party may be girding for a brutal internal war amid the wreckage of its midterm elections — and Donald Trump is ready to “burn it all down” if he can’t keep his grip on the GOP, predicts New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman. Who or what remains standing after such a clash is far from clear, she noted Friday. The throw-down is likely to begin next week when Trump is expected to announce that he’s running again for president, against the advice even of some of his allies. *Trump has already been trashing potential primary rivals, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and possibly Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and former Vice President Mike Pence.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-ready-burn-down-doesnt-000641923.html

Burn it all down Donald, and solidify Dem rule for the next decade...

The Democrat party thanks you...

DeSantis refused to answer if he’d complete a full term as Florida Governor during a debate.

@bass

Are you predicting DeSantis won’t run for president in 2024?

5 ( +7 / -2 )

We WON. Bottom line. Do they take away your championship if you don’t meet the “spread”?

Nope. Still the champion.

with potential additional wins pending in NV and AZ and CA and WA and then GA next month.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

Florida is not "all red."

Yes, it’s all red.

https://politicalwire.com/2022/11/10/florida-is-now-deep-red/

“But DeSantis bludgeoned former Governor Charlie Crist by an astonishing 19 points on Tuesday, a pretty decent night for Democrats running almost everywhere except Florida. Senator Marco Rubio was also reelected in a huge blowout, while Republicans swept every state office and claimed unprecedented supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature.”

Democrats have 8 seats in the house, including my own county Broward.

The pair also both won big in Miami-Dade County, DeSantis by more than 11 percentage points and Rubio by nearly 10 percentage points.

Trump is bad-mouthing DeSantis. Conservative commentators turned on former President Donald Trump after he attacked Ron DeSantis on Saturday.

If I had a dime every time I heard that line.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

In the fight for control of the House of Representatives, Republicans were inching closer to becoming the majority and ending four years of rule by Biden's Democrats. That would give Republicans veto power over Biden's legislative agenda and allow them to launch potentially damaging investigations into his administration.

A painful reality for the Democrats.

They got beaten so badly.

White females voted for the Republicans.

So much for the CNN headline news conspiracy theory that the elections were about abortion.

A rude, red awakening for American liberals.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Lots of trump hater talk.

ok- Is a President DeSantis a “win” for liberals?

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Bass4, Florida is an outlier state made mostly of Elderly people and people from the third world, did your Congress person win in Los Angeles, probably not

1 ( +2 / -1 )

We WON. Bottom line. Do they take away your championship if you don’t meet the “spread”?

To paraphrase Ben Shapiro: If you're coaching a team, that team is expected to go 16-0, and actually only goes 8-8, heads will and should roll. Is he wrong? I actually don't think he is, and I think this is indicative of how unpopular GOP policies actually are.

It's fine though, do absolutely nothing, run on the same platform in two years and get absolutely blown out. I'm here for it.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Are you predicting DeSantis won’t run for president in 2024?

As of now, I doubt it. But, you never know. If he were to run, he’s MAGA policy-wise all the way, so I would support him, if Trump didn’t get the nomination.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

White females voted for the Republicans.

A smaller percentage of them usually do, nothing new. Too early to forecast the demographics.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

We WON. Bottom line. Do they take away your championship if you don’t meet the “spread”?

Nope. Still the champion.

with potential additional wins pending in NV and AZ and CA and WA and then GA next month.

So you "won" with a majority of candidates YOU said were "traitors" and who all deserved to be defeated and thrown out of the party?

Your "losers" won so you're now claiming victory?

And how about Raffensberger? Team Red winner?

you now say all these RINOs that won are irrelevant...

would any of them have won without the MAGA vote?

nope.

What’s the RINO vote, 5%? The rest is MAGA voting for RINOs as only other choice rather than voting Dem.

absent Trump and MAGA the Florida governor would be that Democrat who was arrested for male prostitution and being a crackhead

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Lots of trump hater talk.

A Trump loss is good for democracy. Ron DeSantis has abhorrent policies, but at least he’s not going to burn down democracy if he doesn’t get his way.

I’d put money on the Democrats taking both Arizona and Nevada. Just watch how the numbers are trending. And I think Kari Lake is going down too.

Fingers crossed.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Nothing better highlights the turmoil that is to come to the Repubs...the far-rightists LOVE Trump and DeSantis....but Trump doesn't condone dual worshiping...you're either with him only or you are garbage....

So we have him now blasting DeSantis as "sanctimonious, fat, whiny, and a phony"...and for some reason saying Glen Youngkin is "Chinese"....

Ask any far-righter whether they agree with Trump and they get tongue-tied...

But the reckoning will come soon - they'll have to choose between the "Ultra MAGA King" or "Ron Desanctimonious"....depending upon which one they choose, the other who they loved yesterday, will immediately be labeled "evil", "scum", "a traitor", and "trash"....

Then when Pence, Pompeo, Hawley, Rubio, Graham, and the rest announce their candidacy, the MAGA fur will really fly....

And we all get to watch the "Burn It All Down" show....the implosion of the Repub Party...

0 ( +2 / -2 )

And how about Raffensberger? Team Red winner?

He doesn’t vote in Congress so irrelevant. If Walker wins you will be calling him a cheater who helped Walker win I’m sure.

at least you don’t spell his name wrong like you used to do. That was one of the dead giveaways of which other usernames were “you”.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Trump and DeSantis will cause a civil war in the GOP.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Not if they still won the championship!

Har! They didn't, though.

It's hilarious watching rightists try and spin this as if it's some miraculous, despite the obvious trend, and the fact they've won far fewer seats this time than they did in any of the other previous midterm elections.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Lots of trump hater talk

Relax. Find a sense of humour. No wonder the great comedians tend to come from the left - the right tend to be so uptight and easily upset.

Read what Trump’s been posting on Truth Social about DeSantis. It’s schoolgirl stuff but quite funny. Trump can be very entertaining.

Whether it’s good for the Republican Party is another matter.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

And how about Raffensberger? Team Red winner?

He doesn’t vote in Congress so irrelevant. If Walker wins you will be calling him a cheater who helped Walker win I’m sure.

So it's only Congress Repub wins that count? All the Senate, Governor, State, and local wins don't count for Team Red? Interesting...

How can you say "Team Red" wins when you ignore all the RINOs that won? That's not what you were crowing about before...you were all in on Team Red "winning"...

And is Raffensberger a Repub? Didn't he win? Not happy that your "team" won that one? Kemp? Thune? DeWine?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

A smaller percentage of them usually do, nothing new. Too early to forecast the demographics.

That should change as long as the inflation rate and crime remains off the charts.

Trump and DeSantis will cause a civil war in the GOP.

As will the progressive harpy squad and moderate Democrats like Klobacher and Schumer.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

A Trump loss is good for democracy.

For the Dems, I guess….

Ron DeSantis has abhorrent policies,

Hmmm…not according to conservatives, Latinos, minorities, senior citizens etc. yeah, they flock to that state and the price of real estate is going up

but at least he’s not going to burn down democracy if he doesn’t get his way.

As if the left would be content. He can be just as nasty if pushed and that’s what makes the guy so cool.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Considering how badly he bungled the midterms, I seriously question whether he has the votes to be made majority leader.

Regardless whoever is house speaker, the Dems can’t misuse our money so frivolously.

My God the concessions he'll have to give up to the Freedom Caucus to do so will be astronomical.

No different than what the Squad do with the Nancy

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

What a tough loss for the Democrats.

Either you have a lack of comprehension or just don't read things you don't want to comprehend.

There are so many reasons why the Red Wave was a Red Ripple, and it failed the GOP.

Mainly, the idealogy of conservatives and particularly the 6 year Trump fake power is finished. Had the Red Wave occurred, it would have shown how the conservatives accepted insurrection and the demise of democracy in the USA in favor of the dictatorial, mafioso style of Trump. If it had occurred, the 2024 election would have been all Trump and false conspiracy in America(hello Alex Jones! 1.44 billion and counting!).

In addition, if you understand how Congress and the Senate work, it is better to have a majority, but if it is close, often crossing party lines do happen, along with having power brokers who can influence. You can look at it like having a fight with 10 vs. 2 or 10 vs. 9. I think, maybe you might understand that the latter increases the odds of the lesser number winning, especially if the 9 has a couple of the strongest combatants.

On top of that, the Senate has more than enough odds it will be taken by the Democrats, and if so, it is a huge midterm victory for the rather unpopular Biden. It shows America likes the conservative movement less than Biden, a choice of lesser evils, if you will. Even if somehow the Dems don't take the senate, as is, the Dems have a huge victory this midterm.

So ultimately, no, it isn't a loss for the Democrats, but you have to use a bit of open intelligence and not just fake narrative to come to that conclusion as all news outlets(even Fox) has.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

despite all this. Republicans won the house, still have a solid chance at taking the senate and got 5 million more votes than Dems.

No you didn’t. Not yet. You might, probably will, but not yet. And the Senate looks to stay blue.

As for getting more votes but not as many seats as you’d like, Democrats have a lot of experience in that area as well. Never seemed to bother you when you got fewer votes and more seats.

For all your caterwauling, this was a HORRIBLE cycle for the cult you call a political party. Your Red wave was politically menopausal.

And in 2 years when the lunatic fringe of your “party” has flailed itself out with investigations and under Democrats leadership the economy has recovered, …. The voters will rightly ask why some of them voted for a party of nut-jobs, zealots and morons.

the voters chose “not the crazies”.

Who controls the House?
