My heart goes to my fellow country men and women who lost their loved ones above distant skies.

They had quite the respectful ceremony it was heart breaking when they got back to Holland and I hope the report we get gives at least some form of closure to the relatives but I doubt it.

The only you will get 100% answers is when Putin passes and his memoirs are released if the opposition is in office. Until then, you can only take Ukraine's word for it. Putin will never tell as long as he is alive.

One year on and yet there is still no closure to both MH17 and MH370. Very sad indeed...

To DaDude  Until then, you can only take Ukraine's word for it.

Why??

Somebody is guilty from start point.

Somebody is not...

It's not investigation.

"CNN reports based on sources who have seen the report."

Real funny...

We'll see when the full report comes out, but that's what the sources say.

It'll be the most comprehensive report we'll get from a reputable safety board.

About reputation:

In this case Holland is not neutral.

Holland absolutely supported Maidan and sanctions against Russia.

So they just can't say now - Ukraine is responsible for this crush.

As a result - they investigate and investigate and investigate...

@Olegek

About reputation: In this case Holland is not neutral. Holland absolutely supported Maidan and sanctions against Russia. So they just can't say now - Ukraine is responsible for this crush. As a result - they investigate and investigate and investigate...

And they have very much experience of investigations. They host such kind of organisations as the International Court of Justice, The Iran-United States Claims Tribunal, The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Court (ICC). In addition it hosts the European police organization, Europol; and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

This Malaysian aircraft accident investigation is just peanuts to Netherlands. You can be as suspicious as you like, but I definetely need more proof than your word that there is some kind of conspiracy going against poor Russian, whose reputation also speaks for itself:)

@hameln "whose reputation also speaks for itself:)"

What "reputation" you are talking about? Is he one of those "hi-pros" from flight control tower who sent the MH17 to fly over dangerous zone of military clashes?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Burning Bush: All this time and the report is still inconclusive. Something is fishy about this whole "investigation"

Well that's odd. Right after the incident you blasted people for placing blame and said what we need is a well researched, thorough investigation. Now that that's being done, you're switching gears and saying that a long investigation seems fishy to you.

The fact is you don't know what to say yet. You know you will deny any wrongdoing that points to Putin, but you aren't sure how to do that yet. So in the meantime you'll just call into question the entire investigation, allowing you to respond any way you want when they release it.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Olegek,

The Dutch Safety Board itself is reputable - institution haven't any controversy lately, unless ya can think of an issue specifically.

And people don't have a problem with the Dutch when it was known that it's the Dutch who are doing the investigation, so why have a problem with them now when they're almost done. If people had issues with the Dutch, they would had filed opposition from the beginning and prevented it.

@hameln

They host such kind of organisations as the International Court of Justice, The Iran-United States Claims Tribunal, The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda

The Dutch Safety Board said in a preliminary report - not international - DUTCH

Netherland - NATO member, EU member, US ally, hostile to Russia (Russian diplomat was arrested exactly in this country some years before)

This Malaysian aircraft accident investigation is just peanuts to Netherlands

Yes and because of this we have absolutely no results in one year of "investigations". Only rumors.

You can be as suspicious as you like, but I definetely need more proof than your word that there is some kind of conspiracy going against poor Russian, whose reputation also speaks for itself:)

Netherlands as I said - supported Maidan supported sanctions against Russia and took rigid political position against Russia

May be they are good but they are not neutral. They just can't blame Kiev even if a Kiev was guilty . It's not an option.

And Russia have a good experts in this areas of planes and missiles (excellent !!) - Dutch can't accused Russia without proof.

So Dutch expert are in really difficult situation. Between the hammer and the anvil .

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

@Olegek "we have absolutely no results in one year".

There is a simple explanation. Westerners are trying to cover their current "allies", Ukrainians. In fact Ukrainian air controllers, flight dispatchers sent MH17 on dangerous flight path right over zone of civil war.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Olegek: May be they are good but they are not neutral. They just can't blame Kiev even if a Kiev was guilty . It's not an option.

People will have to believe that there is some kind of intense hatred of Russia that would prompt the Dutch to lie about who murdered hundreds of their people. If you're going to go with conspiracy, you'd better be thinking big. Give us a reason to believe that the Dutch would just "take one for the team" in order to protect Kiev.

In order to set that up, you need to change the stage. You've already started:

Russian diplomat was arrested exactly in this country some years before

Over the next 60-90 days we'll start reading more and more stories of how Holland has a "history" of mistreating Russia. After Putin is done it will sound like The Dutch just simply have it in for him. That will help to set the stage for Russians to buy into a conspiracy when the report comes out.

When the report does come out, the Russian position will be that photos can be doctored, videos can be manipulated, online accounts can be hijacked, audio recordings can be spliced together, etc. They will keep asking for proof while also eliminating anything they would consider to be proof.

They'll go over a thousand pictures of guilt and start with the "why" questions. Why does this picture have a cloud in it, but this one does not, on a day where there weren't many clouds? Why isn't there any testimony from the 90-year old Russian lady who said she saw Ukrainians shooting the plane down and bragging about shooting down an airliner?

I'll check back with you to check on your progress over the next few months.

lostrune2 And people don't have a problem with the Dutch when it was known that it's the Dutch who are doing the investigation, so why have a problem with them now when they're almost done.

SuperLib People will have to believe that there is some kind of intense hatred of Russia that would prompt the Dutch to lie about who murdered hundreds of their people.

There are problems :

1 Dutch specialists actively cooperate with Ukraine and not cooperate with Russia.

2 Whole info of investigation closed for Russian specialists. These guys have something to hide ?

3 After the crash it was economic sanction against Russia from EU including Netherlands (and not Ukraine - were plane really was shot down)

So from the beginning Russia declared "guilty" in this case. One year have passed - and what we have ??

No more than year before... Strange ?

When the report does come out, the Russian position will be that photos can be doctored, videos can be manipulated,

Here your position - only Russia can be guilty ! Investigation should prove it !!!

Nobody in West take in account that Ukraine can be guilty.

They'll go over a thousand pictures of guilt and start with the "why" questions.

Sorry but this " thousand pictures " exist only theoretically - after a year of "investigation" we have seen none of these pictures and have zero as a result.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

So The Netherlands contributed to the sanctions, which means they are likely to lie about who murdered their people and hide the truth?

That's your official position? It needs work.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

That's your official position? It needs work

SuperLib@

And let's sum up your official position: it's all Russia's fault, because, you know, it's Russia, and it is always bad. Nothing new, very typical Western attitude. I just remember the 2001 air collision over Boden lake, when a Russian passenger jet collided with a cargo plane. The Western media quickly pictured the crash as the result of the Russian crew mistakes - "well, they were Russians, they were substandard in comparison with Western pilots, they did not speak English well, blah-blah". It took several years for the Swiss air control company to admit, very reluctantly, kicking and screaming, that the cause was a mistake of one of its air controllers, who put the two planes on the same flight level at the same time.

Back to MH17. I do not believe that the Netherlands' investigation is objective. Here are the reasons:

just in several days after the crash Russian ministry of defence held a press conference, where it gave a lot of information about the crash, but Holland preferred to ignore it;

Russians and Donetsk rebels offered any help to the investigation, but Holland showed not much interest;

Western countries, involved into the investigation (Holland, UK, US) from the beginning agreed to work in complete secrecy, while Russia and the rebels called to make it as open as possible

Western countries take all the Kiev regime says at face value, while this coup-installed bunch of thieves was caught lying too many times

And yes, Holland is a NATO member, and the US from the very beginning said that the crash was Russia's fault. The order has been given. Do you believe that Holland can say anything against that? As Victoria Nuland, deputy secretary of state famously said, "F...k the EU". Well, you can enjoy the "unbiased investigation". I won't.

The report could come to the conclusion that Obama personally shot it down. The difference between you and me is that I'm not setting the stage now to discredit it just in case I'm wrong. We all know what your reaction will be if the rebels are blamed. Conspiracy, conspiracy, conspiracy, and more conspiracy. That's all you guys ever do.

The common theme on Russia Today, Putin's mouthpiece, is that Europe wants to be friendly to Russia but the U.S. always makes them do things they don't want to. That fits in perfectly with your conspiracy that Obama is ordering Holland to act against their own best interests and lie about the conclusion if they find the rebels aren't to blame. No surprise.

Finally, your claims are completely out of step with what Obama has been doing. Look at the deals with Cuba and Iran, countries that have a much worse relationship with the U.S. than Russia. Obama has a track record of reaching out to hostile countries. Russia, on the other hand, is burning bridges like their lives depended on it.
