Well...I just hope for all our sakes that Charlie Gibson does a better job with the Palin interview than he did with McCain's the other day. You don't let someone change their quote after the fact, which in turn, changes the entire line of questioning you are asking.

Gibson was an embarrassment to all journalists on that one.

Makes you wonder why they have kept her under wraps since the convention? And now they only agree to a tightly-controlled situation. She is supposed to be running for public office, but does not want to answer questions from the public. Palin has less than one month before her debate with Joe Biden. Bet she and the Republican brain-trust are very nervous.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

They are hiding her until they can train her to respond properly to the media. Because.

He bulldog on the attack act at the convention sold well with the faithful GOP members but fell flat with the rest of the country.

They know she's a back woods right winger and likely to say something that will worry the rest of the country enough to damage their chances at winning the election.

She told a lot of lies and half truths in her GOP Con speach and will have to explain a lot of that. I'm sure the press will call her to accounts on these points.

Her maverick record of decisions has been revealed to be all smoke as most of the items she claimed responsiblity for, such as the bridge, would have changed if she existed or not. So much for doing great work Palin.

Alaska represents the whole of America in the same way some remote part of Hokkaido represents the whole of Japan. Alaska is simply not in line with mainstream America and Palin's experience in that sparcely populated state and those relatively tiny cities just is not enough. Under observation, any press she gets now will harm their campaign.

Palin was a choice of desperation. McCain will be fighting to protect his VP all the way to the end. And she will be eaten alive by Biden in the debates. No prayer for her there either.

This interview is taking the bit in her teeth. They could have chosen a GOP friendly broadcaster like FOX but instead they chose to go with hostile ABC. Everyone is prepped for interviews and she is just a few days out of the convertion. If she does well in this one you will see a lot more of her on the sunday talk shows. Obama has been in reverse all week, backtracking on the surge and now he is saying that maybe he can't reverse the Bush tax cuts. Today's Gallop poll shows McCain 3 points ahead of Obama nation wide and, for the first time, he leads in Elecotrial College votes.

And she will be eaten alive by Biden in the debates.

Riiight. As if debating has ever been Biden's strong suit...

Palin was a choice of desperation.

GOP bounce: McCain overtakes Obama

John McCain has overtaken Barack Obama in the Gallup daily tracking poll and has his highest level of support in that poll since early May.

http://news.yahoo.com/story//politico/20080907/pl_politico/13228

The McCain campaign was dead in the water. I'd say Palin was a choice of inspiration.

I wonder how she'll do without a trainer by her side. I'm waiting till she appears in from on John Stewart. < :-)

Taka313 must be referring to this exchange between Gibson and McCain:

Gibson: Jan.6, I'm quoting you, "Senator Obama does not have the national security experience and background to be president."

McCain: I said he didn't...

Gibson: Sarah Palin does?

McCain: I said that he didn't have the judgement. He doesn't have the judgment. He still refuses to acknowledge that the surge has succeeded. Governor Palin knows the surge has succeeded. She's the commander of the Alaskan National Guard... She has been in charge and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities...

Gibson: You had many people to consider. Sen. Lieberman...

Yeah, Gibson sure was an embarrassment to all journalists on that one. ( roll eyes )

Gibson lands first Palin interview

Some guys have all the luck.

Perhaps ABC will help Sarah like ABC's George Stephanopoulos did for obama when he didn't have a teleprompter to tell him what religion he follows:

Obama is a black man who can speak well, and says "change" over and over again. McCain is a vet who is too old, Palin is a hot hockey mom who has more experience than Obama. And I can't vote for any of them. The two-party system in America is flawed and a piece of crap. No matter what, inexperience will be in the White House in 2009. Be it a good looking speaks well empty suit black man, or a hot hockey mom from Alaska. We get more choices from McDonalds then we do for a president.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

easychord2 - There have been many choices. If you're an American and voted, you made a choice. Maybe your choice lost. Choose again. Now it's narrowed down to a smaller menu than McDonald's has.

We choose next for the winner. One nominee from some party will win. Like it or not we'll have to live with it till we get the chance to choose again.

We've had plenty of choices. < :-)

And I can't vote for any of them. The two-party system in America is flawed and a piece of crap.

I agree. Then vote for Ralph Nader. The only reason Nader is unlikely to win is that the media is ignoring him.

easychord

There are many candidates running for president for you to choose from:

Ralph Nader of the Peace and Freedom Party

Alan Keyes of the Independent Party

Charles Jay of the Boston Tea Party

Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party

Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party

Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party

Gene Amondson of the Prohibition Party

Ted Weill of the Reform Party

Brian Moore ( no relation to Michael Moore ) of the Socialist Party

Gloria La Riva of the Party for Socialism and Liberation

Roger Calero of the Socialist Workers Party

And they all come with fries!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarge, great post!!

I guess adaydream and SushiSake would vote for Roger Calero. Ha Ha.

Gibson was one of many who wanted to interview Palin. Already she is adored nationally, and everyone wants to hear her opine.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarge, OfficialVersion- Excellent points guys.

Palin is gonna make viewing figures skyrocket whenever she is interviewed.

Peopel were comparing Obama to JFK, i guess they should be comparing Palin instead! I just received my McCain, Palin bumper sticker, already on my car, i feel so proud.

At her church, Governor Palin asked everyone to pray for a natural gas pipeline. And today, God said, "Hey lady, I don't deal with oil companies. That's more Satan's area.

I guess there are some problems with Palin, though. Have you heard about this Troopergate scandal? Palin allegedly used her power as governor to pressure officials to fire her former brother-in-law from his state trooper job. Now, maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't that an episode from Dukes of Hazzard?

But Democrats have already begun to question why Palin has not been put before reporters to answer questions." What a ploy. The dems have been able to gain control of the media. Even Orprah has first refused to have her on the show (and that may hurt her a bit, not that she really needs to be concerned).

Face, the media has their boy and Obama is it. He does after all look a lot better than McCain.

Sarge: Thanks for sharing that info. Do you think any of them will gain any votes? I really wish for another party.

Actually third party candidates have had a monumental impact on some elections. When Teddy Roosevelt started the Bull Moose party to counter Taft, they Split the Republican party and guaranteed a Democrat victory. Ross Perot garnered engough votes to scuttle George H.W. Bush's run for re-election and Nader drew enough votes in Fla. to give that state and the presidency to "W".

I could never stand Charlie Gibson. I was a regular viewer of ABC World News; when Peter Jennings died I stopped watching ABC World News. Even when Peter was anchor it was on its slide to becoming entertainment news. I dare her to do an interview with Jim Lehrer who is the most neutral news person on the planet. Someone mentioned Fox News; yes it could be worse it could be with Chris Wallace. Obama is a brave candidate he had an interview with Bill O'Reilly on the 5th of September. McCain and Palin go for the fluff interviews. I like dry news. Hard core news. BBC and The Jim Lehrer News Hour are very credible news programs. I get most of my news from the major newspapers in America (online). I also check out stories I am reading with other sources.

goodDonkey,

Obama is a brave candidate he had an interview with Bill O'Reilly on the 5th of September.

I watched it...He did damn well. Thought I'd share my honest opinion with you on that.

Agreed... I was with McCain until I heard of this guy.

I admire Stephanapoulos most. Obama accidentally said 'my Muslim faith' in an interview the other day and George quickly reminded him that he is in fact a Christian.

Of course the Washington Times was ALL over that

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/07/obama-verbal-slip-fuels-his-critics/ one.

Obama... O'Reilly...

Beginin' today, I believe there's another couple of days worth of interviews ahead this week.

Of course, if you want to view everything that's asked, said and commented upon in context a number of youse will have to force your delicate psyches to turn on the FOX News channel.

I feels your pain.

Heh, heh...

If I had my druthers I would like to see each of them do an hour or more press conference by themselves. No introduction and they must find their own exit strategy. Those could be brutal.

Keith Olbermann has been removed by MSNBC as their primary interviewer for upcomin' American presidential debates.

Exxxxxxxxxxxcellent.

OfficialVersion, I'll vote for Obama, but thanx for your opinion. But I am waiting for Palin to be interviewed. I want to hear what she says without a handler giving her scripted remarks. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

adaydream; Palin will hold up well to any interview. She is an intelligent woman, who has bravely held true to her convictions.

Obama however is a lethal wound, destroying the Democrats, tearing out their heart and soul. They are finished you see.

Palin and McCain shall be victorious, and they deserve to as well.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

OfficialVersion- great post buddy.

I am sure Palin will show her skills and charm, and more people will vote for the Republicans.

Obama and Palin, you are losing big time! Tee Hee!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Have a good day Official Version. We disagree. No surprise. < :-)

jerseyboy:

Under wraps? She's been out on the campaign trail. You make it sound like she was on "vacation" (teleprompter rehab) in Hawaii or something.

And now they only agree to a tightly-controlled situation.

How long did it take Obama to appear on Fox? Obama's campaign even picked the night it would air (McCain's speech).

Bet she and the Republican brain-trust are very nervous.

Hardly. This is the woman who took on her own party in Alaska.

tkoind2:

He bulldog on the attack act at the convention sold well with the faithful GOP members but fell flat with the rest of the country.

The "faithful GOP' is exactly who McCain had to reach out to, after his support of amnesty for illegal aliens, among other things. And Palin's speech actually worked with moderates and independents: http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReport.aspx?g=36ee8fde-58bf-4027-a75b-b29d86b66b92

It just didn't work on leftists who thought they owned the female vote, and that all women want abortions.

Alaska represents the whole of America in the same way some remote part of Hokkaido represents the whole of Japan.

...or a certain "church" in Chicago or a pachinko parlor in Tokyo.

Alinsky4prez:

I admire Stephanapoulos most. Obama accidentally said 'my Muslim faith' in an interview the other day and George quickly reminded him that he is in fact a Christian.

If you can believe that what Wright preaches is Christianity...

adaydream:

I want to hear what she says without a handler giving her scripted remarks. < :-)

You should've watched her convention speech then. The teleprompter broke. You've seen what happens when the same happens to Obama, right?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I watched the convention.

I'm just waiting for questions and answers.

She may very well be the shining example of a well polished politician and silver throat.

I'm just waiting to hear her off the cuff.

I'm still not going to vote for McCain/Palin, but I enjoying hearing the points. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I'm still not going to vote for McCain/Palin, but I enjoying hearing the points. < :-)

Of course, just as I never vote for Socialists, Communists, Marxists, or any other Leftists.

I will confess that I skipped Obama's speech. If you've heard one "chicken-in-every pot"/"hug-for-every-dictator-and-terrorist" speech, you've heard them all.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I watched both conventions.

I don't agree with everybody all the time, but I feel if I don't listen to as much as possible I'm cutting myself short on information.

Hell, I might have to listen to posters like yourself to give me your take. I like educating myself. < :-)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I skipped the GOP convention. If you've heard one "big-government, big spender, anti-health, anti-science, anti-poor, fundie-religious fascist" speech, you've heard them all.

Honestly, if someone could resurrect Hitler, those arsewipes would put him on the ticket and the whole party vote for him.
