The headline should be: 'Teenage thieves mow down pedestrian". What's race got to do with it?

I agree with nandakandamanda; while race may be the only reason it's making news, it's a moot point in this case. Had it been a bunch of non-Aborigine Aussies that did this, it would be non-news, but the result would probably be the same. I don't see any racial motivation on either side.

From a business standpoint it makes sense for the media to focus on one group if there is tension.

So stealing a car, mowing down innocent pedestrians and endangering the lives of scores of people is somehow justified?

Murdoch is very desperate to protect the police here. He might also have a screw loose.

I don't have any problem with such reckless car thieves getting shot, but I do question the Hollywood style method used to stop the car. A hail of bullets is dangerous too. So is a speeding car with an incapacitated driver. I think the police were lucky no one else was hurt due to their actions. Next time, use roadblocks and caltrops.

This will rage on and on because the media want it to, what is a 14 year old doing driving a car, suppose it was stolen also!!!
