`Alcohol is one of the age-old ways humans kill themselves prematurely. Harm to user can be damage to your health, loss of relationships, enviromental damage, family conflict, international damage, economic cost, and damage to community cohesion. Alcohol is a sedative, hypnotic and addicting drug. Some of us do use it to unwind or relax and especially in social situations is a ice breaker. After all, it does alter one's mood by decreasing inhibitions. The consumption of alcohol is widely accepted, often providing the cornerstone of social gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, many teenagers associate the use of alcohol as a rite of passage into adulthood. While the use is prevalent and acceptable in our society, it should not come a surprise that problems arise in the use of alcohol as it did unfortunately with Nicholas Cage. Hence, moderation in all things should be the rule of thumb.

Local media reports that the police were called to the scene after a taxi driver witnessed Cage shoving his wife on the sidewalk and notified the police.

I've never been so drunk that I grabbed my wife in any such manner. Some people just can't hold their whiskey.

You seem to think NOLA is in a Mardi Gras like state the year round. Also you need tp modernize yoru knowledge on current definitions for DV. As is the case with sexual harassment and sexual assault, it's what's perceived by the potential victim that matters, not the alleged abuser's. Drunk or not, technically he shouldn't have grabbed her arm during the argument. That made a verbal altercation into a physical one. The only thing that would excuse Cage is if he were grabbing her to keep her from getting hit by a car or some other emminent danger, but that obviously isn't the case here. If his grabbing her arm left any bruises or marks then he's toast as far as the battery charge is concerned.

I bet it was the first white guy arrested in a long time.

Arguing, yelling and grabbing an arm gets you a DV charge now? I guess you better be a perfect little automaton in New Orleans!
Hitting other people's cars is definitely wrong though. Being drunk? Yelling at a cop? New Orleans sounds right fascist.

They should also have booked him for being tops in the worst hair-pierce category...

He must have been bombed out of his skull. That said, I have to say that the New Orleans police are notorious for arresting people without much provocation (friends of mine found this out). Think he would have been arrested in Tokyo for something like this(or even some US cities)? Doubt it.

So many unanswered questions. Was the house theirs? - many houses in New Orleans look remarkably alike. Was Cage drunk? - that and a sober Cage act remarkably similar.
