Excuses, excuses. The Taliban wants the whole pie. That means no foreigners whatsoever. They want it all and they want it now.

So they lose.

If I raped your mother would you be angry? Some societies have strong beliefs. People need to respect each other’s cultures. That makes the world incredibly interesting. I’m a vegetarian but I go burning MacDonalds.

Where was this respect for other religions when they destroyed the Buddha statue at Bamiyan? Maybe the Taliban have turned over a new leaf?

There is no way for a moral individual who values basic human rights can respect islamic fundamentalists of any stripe, not just the Taliban but the mullahs in Iran and the scum that rule Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States. To do so is the equivalent of saying thieves and rapists just have different values that need to be respected. No respect for any of this if you have any sense of decency.

I'd ask for all religious materials to be restricted like Rated X movies. Religions have done so much harm worldwide, they shouldn't be allowed to be practiced by non-adults. I doubt I'll see this in my lifetime, but I can dream, just like I can dream about equal rights for all people around the world and a world without any wars.

I can imagine these things. Plus, not having my religious neighbors constantly asking me to come with them to their cult every week would be nice.
