Demolition cannot topple a crane?  I'd give them another chance - second time's a charm, or some such.

Heh I can't tell which is most ridiculous - using explosives to remove cranes or failing at toppling a crane with said explosives. Darwin Awards are surely on the way...

The initial collapse, and then the failure of the effort to clear the cranes, is very clear evidence that the materials and methods actually being used had little resemblance to the materials and methods that were represented as being used.

Yes, accidents happen, and explosive demolition is a tricky business full of compromises between using enough force to be certain to get the job done, and not so much force as to cause danger, but the double dose is improbable, especially with all the public attention and the danger the failure to clear both cranes represents.
