Bass: Not really

Why would you think the US going at it alone vs China is better than the US teaming up with our allies, on a united front, vs China?

Seems illogical to have a fragmented, single nation approach.

In the U.S. Biden has 54% approval ratings. When Trump left office his was 38.6%. That also compares with Trump in May 2017 at 39%.

Yeah, that’s what most polls said, but at least he was respected, feared and taken as unpredictable and that’s the awesome thing about Trump, you just didn’t know, with Biden, you can see it a mile away, Putin and Xi can.

https://ecfr.eu/publication/the-crisis-of-american-power-how-europeans-see-bidens-america/

There are geopolitical consequences to American weakness. A majority believe that China will be more powerful than the US within a decade and would want their country to stay neutral in a conflict between the two superpowers. Two-thirds of respondents thought the EU should develop its defence capacities.

There is a great chance for a revival of Atlanticism, but Washington cannot take European alignment against China for granted. Public opinion will have a bigger effect on the relationship than it once did, and needs to be taken into account.

That’s bad, very bad. Can’t do a good job at home and can’t do a good job abroad and we didn’t even finish our first year yet with this guy.

America is strongest when we leverage our relationships with allies and work together on common goals.

When? Our relationships with Europe has benefited Europe more than the US, friends? Lol

We are weakest when we go at it alone.

Not really and Not for the nation as a whole, no matter what, when the chips come down, Europe will always need the US in various capacities.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

As for Trump, his top priority is Trump. His second priority is his business. America and the rest of the world are a distant third and fourth, and only when it supports the top two.

What credibility, that the US is back to appeasement? Well, he’s doing good on that for sure.

Just not appeasing Putin, Xi or Kim.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

What credibility, that the US is back to appeasement? Well, he’s doing good on that for sure.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

To be fair it is not hard to make the US more credible than with the last president. The hard part will be to assure the rest of the world this situation will not happen again.

@Kaerimashita See my post above, Texas just voted to build their own wall because they can't handle the influx and millions of dollars in property damage is being done to crops and pasture.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

I can't wait for them to invoke Article 23 and have Kamala take over. she was stellar in Latin America, has taken the immigration issue by the scruff of the neck and will be superb at this type of major summit and at dealing with the media.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Canada, the United Kingdom and France largely endorsed the Biden administration’s position, while Germany, Italy and European showed hesitancy during the talks

European what? Can someone proofread these articles, please?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

but as a kid we used to play with glass marbles and the dumbest kids always lost them.

Autobiography?

It’s so nice to to have to see that repugnant hand shake bullying anymore.

Recall 45 pushing Montengro’s leader at a NATO photoshoot. And I recall some 45' supporters cheered on their Trump for doing so..

Thugs attract fellow thugs after all.

45 and its fractals, self - similar at every level.

Biden has not been too bad for the US but Trudeau is idiotic: the US is pressing Canada hard on a number of trade fronts; pipelines, lumber, beef, dairy products and eggs. Trudeau just sucks it up. Biden has been very bad for Canada which is what one would expect from any foreign leader.

Also, Texas has just voted to build their own wall.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Biden, What a spineless politician, nothing more.

Yes, he will go down in history as the President that tore apart the U.S.

He has nothing to lose because he doesn't have much time left.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

The former guy had no credibility ever, he was a known liar and cheat. No surprise it reflected on America under his despotic rule.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

He’s saving that for when he is safely back in America and can challenge him to a push-up contest from a safe distance.

Are you under the impression that if Biden had said anything bad about Putin while in Europe, Putin would have personnally rode his horse to the UK to beat him up? What kind of alternative dimension are you living in?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Canada, the United Kingdom and France largely endorsed the Biden administration’s position, while Germany, Italy and European showed hesitancy during the talks, according to a senior official who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity.

biden has divided the Europeans by failing to lead - by following from behind. And where is the tough rhetoric against the Russians? After caving on the pipeline he isn’t even willing to say anything to upset Merckel - Vlad’s business partner. He’s saving that for when he is safely back in America and can challenge him to a push-up contest from a safe distance. biden may have a lot of credibility with the softies in Europe and Canada but everyone else is going to chew up the old man and spit him out. The authoritarians know a weak leader when they see one.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

The Democrats are Communist vampires draining the vital life essences of the American public.

President Biden is a zombie revivified by Chicom 5G tech who wants to turn the G7 into a socialist hellhole with free healthcare and transgendered neutered emotional service comfort dogs.

Am I doing this right?

I was worried I was not exaggerating enough as some of that were literal quotes .

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Do you seriously believe that before this, LIbya under Ghadaffy was a wonderfully harmonious and peaceful society?!?

Comparing to what it is now, yes, it was a prosperous and stable country, which, by the way, was effectively controlling the flow of immigrants to Europe.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Biden puts abroad first and domestic a distant last.

Trump put Putin (and golf) first for four years and American democracy and our allies last....

The other G7 leaders love him.

And Trump exchanges love letters with Kim the Killer...

Trump put domestic first and abroad last.

Trump never put a broad last - just listen to the Access Hollywood tape or ask Stormy...

The G7 didn’t like him. It makes sense to me.

Leaders of democracies didn't like Trump; but tyrants, autocrats and dictators love him....yep, that makes absolute sense to me...

But right now, Trump needs to worry more about how much the Rikers Island Warden will like him...

1 ( +8 / -7 )

Called the RAF the RFA.

Did he really? Probably mixing it up with the RFC (Royal Flying Corps). That's more his generation.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

biden is nothing but an utter embarrassment! Appalling as a president but he does make me laugh when I hear him "speak"! I can't wait until 2024 when our great President Trump will be back and then we have a President again.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Gd

what has Trump got to with it? I didn’t say he is better. Just that Joe was pretty poor.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

Called the RAF the RFA.

Trump says Mr. Clean cures COVID. Also, he says he wanted to build an alligator swamp in front of his wall (just use boats and ladders do defeat them).

So the US President

The US president is Trump and he said he's coming back in August.

Meanwhile his streets at home are littered with shell casings

then better stay safe in Japan since there are no guns here. Biden wants to increase gun control. It works as anyone can see in Japan.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

@goodluckto you

USA and NATO destroyed the most prosperous nation in Africa....

The civil war was started by local groups as part of the grassroots regional "Arab Spring," to oust murderous dictators in the region. This movement actually caught the Obama administration by surprise and it was slow and hesitant to react.

But as the killing intensified among the local players, particularly among civilians, NATO drew up air strike plans to protect the civilian population. Do you seriously believe that before this, LIbya under Ghadaffy was a wonderfully harmonious and peaceful society?!?

1 ( +7 / -6 )

how could that be such a big deal to you?

A grown man who doesn't know the difference between the words "origins" and "oranges" is a very big deal. Especially if said man is president of the United States. Because it doesn't imply any form of mental confusion due to old age, it implies pure unadultered idiocy. Like claiming wind farms cause cancer. Yes, Biden is old and he will confuse words. Most people his age will. But he knows, for example, that injecting bleach into your body is a not good idea. And that in itself is an incredible step-up from the last guy.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

USA and NATO destroyed the most prosperous nation in Africa by bombing civilians, installing a puppet corruption government, creating a EU migrant crisis, returning slavery to the world and increasing Islamic fundamentals radical power. That was Biden and Hilary legacy. So he must know Libya very well.

in Syria, as VP under Obama, he provided weapons and training to IS, al Nusra, as well as supporting White Helmets with millions of Tax money, under the guise of regime change directed by Israel.

these are major incidents. How can he, as a long term pollution with 30 years experience, confuse a country in Africa, and the Middle East???

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

Hollow praise for a guy that will sell America down the river. They’ll say the right things in front of the camera, but know Biden is a puppet.

While they didn’t always agree with Trump, at least they knew what they were getting and respected the fact that he fought for his country.

-3 ( +10 / -13 )

how could that be such a big deal to you? what does it hurt compared to confusing Libya and Syria in a public speech at the G7?

How embarrassing for Biden.

and again, Trump was not speaking at the G7. so its not relevant.

but it's still much better than a president who doesn't know the difference between the words "origins" and "oranges"

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

Called the RAF the RFA.

"We can work together with Russia – for example, in Libya. Biden confused Libya for Syria on two more occasions in his meandering diatribe.

COVID instead of COVAX. The White House issued a correction for the president, saying that when he said "COVID," he meant to say "COVAX." Biden reportedly made this same error on three different occasions during the press conference.

Forgot that someone was already introduced. "The world leaders laughed at Biden's forgetfulness at the G7 roundtable. Then the press was rushed out of the room."

when someone asked him a question- Jill Biden quickly interrupted the impromptu question, and frantically said, "Joe, c'mon," as she waved her hands for him to come with her, which elicited laughter from the people nearby. She then grabbed his hand and lead him away.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

So the US President should probably know the difference between Syria and Libya, no?

A president who confuses Lybia and Syria isn't great, but it's still much better than a president who doesn't know the difference between the words "origins" and "oranges" or what happened at Pearl Harbor. As a 78 year-old man, Joe Biden might sometimes confuse words. That's understandable. But at least he's not an uneducated idiotic buffoon.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

Not a Clinton or Obama delivery, but rooted in facts, didn’t throw our allies under the bus or bend over for Putin, so yeah. I’ll take it.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

yet we werent talking about Trump, as he didnt speak at the G7.

So the US President should probably know the difference between Syria and Libya, no?

Did you think Biden's speech was great?

3 ( +9 / -6 )

KaerimashitaToday  08:00 am JST

His speech and the Q and A were just embarrassing. He is clearly struggling

I’m sorry, have you ever heard Trump speak? Flubbing basic vocabulary. Incoherent sentence structure. The beginning and ending of sentences having nothing to do with each other. Reading from the tele-prompter like a hostage video.

Not only is Trump the worst negotiator I’ve ever seen, he’s worse than W at public speaking and that’s not something I ever thought I would see.

1 ( +9 / -8 )

Biden's "credibility" can be no more than mere candyfloss until he makes it a priority to see that "Public Enemy No 1" is arraigned in orange and put behind bars.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

As a proud American, I am happy to know that Biden is fixing the obvious errors of the Trump Administration. I give America a high credibility score.

-5 ( +11 / -16 )

The way the rightist posters fall for the old two party dichotomy shell game is embarrassing, and would be entertaining if it was a bit more creative and did not rely so much on cliche. Just admit there are some minor points of difference in policy and decorum between the former and the latter and try to focus on more issues of substance.

-1 ( +9 / -10 )

This is the 100% true

Just throwing away the money accumulated by a strong leader before him...

Trump left office with the biggest deficit in the history of the country.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/01/14/trump-legacy-national-debt-increasee/

Now in US the inflation is going up and up.. Soon our economy will collapse ...

"Our" economy? Why are you pretending to be american?

-4 ( +11 / -15 )

Yeah I do really wonder who decided this America leads the world thing? The other countries are really ok with this as long as Biden pays for everything I guess?

-1 ( +14 / -15 )

America’s back in the business of leading the world alongside nations who share our most deeply held values,

Did the world ask for this? Or he thinks that G7 represents the world?

“brain death” of NATO

NATO has been brain dead for good 30 years now.

Biden, What a spineless politician, nothing more.

This is the 100% true

Just throwing away the money accumulated by a strong leader before him...

Now in US the inflation is going up and up.. Soon our economy will collapse ...

What a credibility???

-2 ( +14 / -16 )

The set up also means that, while Biden is expected to press Putin privately on his destabilizing and aggressive activity, he will not call out the Russian leader for his actions in a public setting when the two are in the same room.”

expected to? How we will know if he does without him saying it in front of Putin?

-3 ( +8 / -11 )

His speech and the Q and A were just embarrassing. He is clearly struggling. As for the underlying policy statements, much of it was fluff and the rest was stuff Orange was saying or doing a year and more ago. All this nonsense about America being back is totally nonsensical.

7 ( +19 / -12 )

Biden, What a spineless politician, nothing more.

7 ( +23 / -16 )

It's amazing what one can accomplish when you don't act like spoilt 5 year-old.

-1 ( +14 / -15 )

It’s so nice to to have to see that repugnant hand shake bullying anymore.

Biden is finally "Making America Great Again"!

He called out China on the world stage and not on Twitter, and he is not legitimizing a killer and criminal like Putin, nor will legitimize any other dictator's like lil Kim because he envy their dictatorships. He won't be selling the US and its people out to the same countries plus Turkey and Saudi Arabia for his hotel. He also won't find ways to con the US taxpayers out of money to pay himself and his business.

Biden won't legitimize criminal communist governments and have meeting to public suck up tp them!

Biden says he won't hold a joint press conference with Putin because he doesn't want to get 'diverted' by who 'talked the most'

https://www.yahoo.com/news/biden-says-wont-hold-joint-164838814.html

Biden will also probably not get his hand crushed and intimidate like trump by Macron!
