Mareo, you do realize that the majority of funding to pay for establishing overseas bases is paid by the host country, right?

Well, Im just wondering how many americans jobs costed these bases abroad and can be uninformed to think that arming yourself for self-defense and arming yourself for keep world peace have the same price tag. Even if the host taxpayers pay part of the bases and their maintenance, is american taxpayers who pay for the extra aircrafts and tanks. If the host start to pay for the weapons and salaries of the extra soldiers to, then the US armed forces start to look just like an american private military contractor, in place of an military ally committed to defend the host country in exchange to serve as a base for military operations against other countries and some economic incentives. Again, my points is that these have a cost in tax and jobs for the american citizens. The point of expend billions in military operations abroad and lacking a national medicare that can cover every american. Is just talk about priorities.

Who to turn to for financial commentary: a) Warren Buffet b) "adaydream"

Really hard to decide... hahaha

The fact remains. These markets have gone bankrupt. No matter how they did it, they have gone bankrupt.

Now the people of the United States have to prop up these markets. If I went bankrupt, the country wouldn't prop up my personal portfolio and give me millions.

Then these same people that bankrupt the markets will go home at the end of the day with my money.

Warren Buffet has the money to throw around, whether it actually helps or gets him a cent of profit.

We've been screwed and even if profits were made from this bailout, the country is so far in debt, we'll never see them. < :-)

daydream:

" So SuperLib, you want to give Wall Street as little as $350,000,000,000.00 up to $1,000,000,000,000.00. I don't think I should have to prop up Millionaires or Billionaires. "

That is not a fair representation. They want to buy the junk securities to take them out of the market. In the end, the deal might actually be profitable. Warren Buffet thinks so, and I trust his judgement more than that of poster "adaydream" on JT.

Be that as it may, Ahmedinejad may still be right. The way Western governments are refusing to deal with the islamist threat, it is correc that the West is digging its own grave.

I don't think I should have to prop up Millionaires or Billionaires.

You want to give Wall Street all this money for gambling with our money and we have to cough it up again.

I've invested in my 401, IRAs and now I have to be glad that my tax dollars are being loaned, given, granted or debts forgiven to Wall Street moguls so they can continue to go home making giant parachute bonuses, paychecks no individual should receive and I should be happy to give mt tax dollars.

Like I said, I shouldn't have to pay it. And you're for more tax breaks, also? < :-)

So agree or not, our empire is crashing. And I shouldn't have to pay for it. < :-)

Ah, could this be the limits of anti-Americanism? Rejoice that the "empire is crashing" as long as it doesn't affect your pocketbook? ;)

These are heavy costs imposed on the U.S. economy.

Nothing compared to the cost of entitlement programs.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The imposition on the U.S. economy of the years of heavy military engagement and involvement around the world ... the war in Iraq, for example. These are heavy costs imposed on the U.S. economy.

Didnt this is a good news indeed?

The financial empire of the US is collaping right in front of our eyes. With the greed of dirty realtors, banks that made loans to people that couldn't afford them, speculators selling these packages of failed mortgages.

And how could anybody ever re-negotiate a loan that had been bought and sold so many times that ownership of a particular mortgage is impossible to track.

So agree or not, our empire is crashing.

And I shouldn't have to pay for it. < :-)

While he may be insane, fewer lies come out of Ahmadinejad's mouth than Dubya's. It's unfortunate that the few leaders who do stand up to US bullying also happen to be crazy, hmmm, does that make me crazy too? Probably, find out: www.theendisalwaysnear.blogspot.com

And don't forget that also means the end of financial aid we give to keep so many foreign economies afloat.

Makes sense, as it seems America is on the receiving end of financial aid from around the world.

Not only will I excuse you for not going to the KKK's website to get your statistics, I'll applaud you for recognizing the truth of the statistics even though they appear on the KKK's website.

And I'll applaud you for taking the time and effort to speak completely around my point.

I don't think I have any particular problem with people just because their ideas are different from mine. Perhaps one day you can get around to excusing me for seeing things differently than you do.

Well I think most of our problem is that I can see right through you. It's times like this when I'm reminded that you're no better than the rest on here. A radical is a radical is a radical.

American empire in the world is reaching the end of its road

I don't recall giving Ahmadinejad a new suit. When did I do that? Was it expensive? Are you sure that was me or are you just seeing what you want to see?

skipthesong,

You say that many are kissing the truth-teller. Who is doing so and how are they doing it?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

superlib - As sugar daddies go Ahmadinejad is no Nasser or Saddam, but we on the Left cant be choosey.

SezWho: Acknowledging a truth is not the same thing as kissing the truth-teller.

You'll have to excuse me if I don't go to the KKK's website to get statistics on black people, even if they are technically accurate.

By the way, your boy Ahmadinejad looks good in that new suit you gave him. ;)

Did you see Ahmadinejad on Larry King?

This tough reporter pinned Ahmadinejad down and admonished him sayin', "You look too young to be a grandfather".

since the majority of the money moving in our economy is tied to military?" How much of a wager would you be willing to put up to prove you're correct? Did it ever occur to you why the Bush admin was so easily able to shrug its shoulders when meeting opposition over the war??

Acknowledging a truth is not the same thing as kissing the truth-teller." Yeah, but right now, many who are acknowledging are kissing the truth teller.

I would agree that America at the moment is on its but I wonder about this so called empire he talks about. Haven't notice the US annexing any countries in the past few years/

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Near collapse? I dont think so. I am sure that a lower economic output is going to lower the military power. But how much depends of how much americans want to fix the economy. Is not impossible that for pride the US chose to keep an unsustainable high level of global military power at the cost of a collapse of the economy in the long term, like the soviet union. Also giving acccess to the US market in free trade agreements that can cost americans jobs, as a diplomatic card for get permision to build US military bases in other countries. After all keep the world peace have a logic cost and sacrifices.

there is some truth to what he says." Never go there man. A lot of crazy and evil people have had truth in many of their words... its no reason to start kissing anyone.

"its next rulers must limit their interference to their own borders,” Ahmadinejad said.

...as Iranian tentacles reach further into Syria, Lebanon, "Palestine", Iraq

0 ( +0 / -0 )

SuperLib,

You continually talk about me and not about the point. My point was that:

Ahmadinejad is at least right about the folly of continuing to try to solve problems in this manner.

Now, did you have something to say about this point? Or did you just want to try to say something bad about me because I can find something good to say about Ahmadinejad?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ahmadinejad is at least right about the folly of continuing to try to solve problems in this manner.

It's always nice to see Sez pick up the holocaust denying gay killer, run a comb through his hair, and sanitize his message as best he can.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

If the economy is not moving then what would happen if we stopped our military action? Would the economy fail completly since the majority of the money moving in our economy is tied to military?

Based on the math of both of the canadites budget plans you will see an increase in the national debt that is almost equal to what we are adding every year now. You cant build up all the goverment paid plans and decrease taxes. Both plan to keep the military in combat situations..

So yes Iran is right in the fact that if we keep up on this trend we will run out of money sooner then later, sad but its true..

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sarge,

Yes, we'll have to add that to the list of gay-deniers that includes generals who have insisted that there are no gays in the military. But, seriously, unless one is a fundamental Christian, what does gayness have to do with the American empire being near collapse?

Some may be tempted to assume that Ahmadinejad is an idiot. This would be comforting. It would be wrong.

Ahmadinejad's remarks about gays serve to dismiss a problem that is inconsequential compared to the other problems that Iran faces. His remarks about Zionists are over the top even if other criticisms of Israel are sound. He is a shrewd and calculating politician and there is some truth to what he says.

We undertook to spend the Soviets into submission. Following our success there, we have continued to throw money at our problems. Our national debt, decreasing only under Clinton increased from about $0.9T in 1980 to possibly $11.3 if the bailout proceeds as requested. As a percentage of GDP, our national debt has gone from about 26% to 38% and our total debt has gone from less than 40% to almost 70%.

Ahmadinejad is at least right about the folly of continuing to try to solve problems in this manner.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

He's wrong, if he were right, many here would be going out and celebrating

0 ( +0 / -0 )

That's what the Soviets said the U.S. about 20 years ago...old news!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sounds like he is worried about the Zionist's.

Otherwise sounds like a lot of truths.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"Mahmoud Ahmadinejad"

Isn't this the guy who said there are no gays in Iran?
