The virus is blamed for over 267,000 deaths and more than 13.4 million confirmed infections in the U.S.

All on Trump's watch. While he plays golf and continues to NOT do the job he once WAS elected to do.

And while on his march of shame back to Mar a Lago leaves as many ugly messes as he possibly can for soon to be President Joe Biden.

And his supporters (US and 'foreign') LOL at the damage Trump's done to the country.

Health experts had pleaded with Americans to stay home over Thanksgiving and not gather with anyone who didn't live with them. Nevertheless, almost 1.2 million people passed through U.S. airports Sunday,

Everywhere in the world people are getting tired of this Covid thing.

Therefore they ignore health experts or government warnings or requests to stay home.

The problem is that the people also start to stop their personal preventions, like wearing masks, washing hands, use sanitizer...

Everyone Is tired and waiting for the vaccine.

People want to live their lives!

It is understandable...

At home is where the super spreader events are.

“By the way, you won’t hear about it after November 4th”

Idiot.

Count down to a rapid increase in cases, hospitalizations and eventually death. All because of “Freedumb!”

11 ( +15 / -4 )

One arachnid superhero once said "with great power comes great responsibility." And just like that moto, "with (great) freedom comes great responsibility." They abused (and have been) that freedom, now time to pay the consequences of their actions.

"The virus is blamed for" does not equal "the virus caused". In most cases, the victims were already suffering from various ailments and/or elderly. Take the case of Canada, where more than 3/4 of all covid deaths occur among residents of elderly care facilities. Less than 10% of victims are under the age of 60. This is the reality. The chances of dying from Covid are vanishingly small unless you are elderly and already weakened.

So, yet more restrictions on the vast majority of people, whose chances of suffering even serious illness from covid are tiny, are ridiculous.

And after Thanksgiving not a few Americans will face funerals.

Trump and the damage done. Just as his narcissism demanded he will go down in history, but his name will live in infamy.

All on Trump's watch.

Soon to be on Biden’s watch and then conservatives will keep daily count.

While he plays golf and continues to NOT do the job he once WAS elected to do.

Like what, Tell people to wear masks and to social distance, maybe encouraging more lockdowns?

And while on his march of shame back to Mar a Lago leaves as many ugly messes as he possibly can for soon to be President Joe Biden.

After 4 years of Dems attacking and delegitimizing this President, he’s supposed to now role over and be nice given what has happened?

And his supporters (US and 'foreign') LOL at the damage Trump's done to the country.

Not laugh, more like shaking our heads.

So, yet more restrictions on the vast majority of people, whose chances of suffering even serious illness from covid are tiny, are ridiculous.

It's hard to tell people who refuse to understand the science of the Coronavirus, and believe in it was a hoax, the seriousness of the spread of this particular virus. It has killed a quarter of a million people in America and 1.5 million deaths world wide.

You think it's a relatively small amount, and believe it's 'just' the weak and elderly who are prone to dying from COVID-19, and a large percentage of people who get it are fine. It's difficult to tell the Trump crowd who has little empathy and narrow mindedness to understand how severe it is and how many came close to dying from it or suffered for weeks, like a Chris Christie.

But, the most danger is how a virus can quickly mutate if spread further along with super spreader mentality so it can become an even greater threat, and much deadlier than it currently is.

Perhaps, to the point masks won't matter, vaccine's won't either, as the virus will find a way to expand, no matter what precautions are taken. Stopping the virus early was imperative, but Trump didn't get that, at all, because he has no ability to vision what science was saying.

To prevent filling hospitals to capacity, everywhere, and getting completely out of control is why there is such caution for this virus, and why action now is so necessary.

You're still thinking it's the common flu, because of Trump, and it's naive and down right wrong not to believe in the science.

At the end of the day the public have been told and told they have chosen to ignore it so they will face the consequences unfortunately.

Sunfun, please don't tell me what I think and why I think it. It has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with science. Yes, the deaths are tragic but need to be put in perspective. This isn't the bubonic plague we are talking about here, it is a simple respiratory virus. They come and go. And yet I notice you did not dispute the facts I wrote, merely reacted emotionally to them.

Even the CDC in the United States acknowledges that only 6% of all deaths can be directly attributed to the virus. The rest, it is merely one in a series of complications and conditions that contributed to the sad passing of the victim.

The lockdowns seem to be causing the phenomenon of the cure being worse than the disease. The cost isn't just economic, it is social and also a health risk. Lockdowns are responsible for spikes in domestic violence, crime, suicide, and so on. Lockdowns also punish the poor and working class much more than the wealthy. After all, who can work from home? Not carpenters or shop staff or taxi drivers. White collar workers yes, blue collar no.

“But the amount of people defying government orders is telling a different story.”

About time too

Comorbidity is a contributing factor to deaths from the virus. Death, however, is caused by COVID. No COVID, the individual would not end-up on a respirator and die. Over 80% of individuals placed on a respirator die. Comparisons to the flue are moot. It isn't influenza any more than it is leprosy.

The pandemic spread world-wide in March. It has been approximately eight months. That there is a compulsion to enact life as if it is 'normal' ignores the impact of such actions.

The means to reducing deaths is to avoid unnecessary contact. Any manner of celebration, sporting event, holiday gathering, on & on & on should be avoided like the plague. That certain individuals are 'suffering' from 'COVID exhaustion', however genuine, need to realize that continued vigilance is necessary. The import of masks & hand washing & disinfectant & social distancing are easily enacted. Those places where protocols are respected and maintained have been successful in reducing the impact of COVID.

Those who absurdly claim it is an infringement on their 'freedoms' or rights are ignorant. The means of entitlement purposefully asserted with the most spurious of logic contributes to an ongoing tragedy that could have been tamped down many moons ago. The number of individuals who are completely shameless is not surprising and reflects an overarching lack of responsibility that is evident in certain cultures, especially in The West and particularly the USA. This isn't about politics, it is about the actual health & welfare of the many.

They knew the risks and consequences when they took it, so no whinging when the infection rates increase leading to countermeasures

It is understandable...

No, it is a gross lack of adult self restraint and self discipline. It wouldn't matter to me if others want to be lazy and stupid but it could kill me or others of my age group I care deeply about. That makes me angry at the negligent stupidity I see everywhere. Put a mask on outside and inside and stay the heck away from other people. A year or two of hunkering down won't kill you but this virus may, or worse you give it to someone else who gets very sick and dies.

Like what, Tell people to wear masks and to social distance, maybe encouraging more lockdowns?

Yes, exactly.

After all, who can work from home? Not carpenters or shop staff or taxi drivers. White collar workers yes, blue collar no.

The working poor are still working. All the building contractors are busy building in our area. If fact if you call one to have some work done they'll all tell you they are booked up into the next year. Grocery store workers are all working. Same at Walmart, various drug stores, gas stations, etc. All the refinery workers and warehouse workers are busy working as are the truck drivers delivering goods. And they are the ones getting sick and dying at higher rates than the wealthy tossers who think Covid is just this massive inconvenience on their ability to dine out or go to a ball game or the beach.
