Politics aside - glad to see these men are free.

Good news

Great!

I wonder how many others will try to go to NK on religious missions then used later as pawns in a geopolitical game.

They aren’t the first ones...

7 ( +7 / -0 )

God Bless America, the greatest nation in the world.

Those poor men. From one nation of brainwashers to another.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

He is the one who got them released.

Joint effort imo. Trump, KJU, Pompeo, Moon and Xi (and probably a few more) all contributed to their release (directly or indirectly). DT himself said so i.e " it was a sign of cooling tensions'. Trump sure did his bit, but so did others.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Even positive things with this guy always has a hit job at the end.

Do you mean like Trump blaming Obama for not getting all three of these men released during his term?

When will these dumb Americans stop going to N. Korea?

Agreed. It is similar to those extreme sports types that need to be rescued from the middle of the ocean, some barren wilderness, etc.

"Everyone thinks so, but I would never say it,"

Trump is truly a tone deaf egotistical buffoon.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Welcome home guys. Your former boss went over and got you out. And it wasn't Trump.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

That makes 14 US citizens that have been released from foreign countries since Trump started

You seem to be suggesting that criminals, spies and mere fools who get themselves into trouble overseas shouldn't be subject to the laws of the country they messed up in, simply on account of their being US citizens.

Do you think non-US citizens locked up in the US for breaking the law should be given the same privileged treatment? Everyone should be escorted home on an official plane and treated like heroes?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

When will these dumb Americans stop going to N. Korea?

This silly process repeats itself again and again every few years now.

Fortunately these 3 are all Korean-Americans by the look of it, otherwise, they'd be returning in vegetative states.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Even the headlines are snarky, will it ever stop? no, I dont think it will.

Trump fans seem to be as thin-skinned as he is. Yes, there's a little snark, but it's in reference to Trump's habit of giving most of the credit to himself for everything. If he goes overboard with the self-congratulating, the press is allowed to touch on that.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Thanks for the reminder that it isn’t only Trump who can do things Obama can’t.

LOL, only the extreme right could twist facts so badly that even they cannot believe it.

Planes of cash and uneven swaps, 4 in return for 7? Liberals can’t math.

Or the extreme right is bad at basic reading skills.

Amazing and great news for the freed American men! Next we hope the Japanese kidnapped 13 will be freed,Trump and PM Abe promised to finalize it.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

even though I already brought you up to date on the facts that two of those detainees where detained last year, 2017 when Trump was prez, not Obama.

I wanted to see a conservative bite on Trump's lie. It is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Trump's supporters are a discerning bunch.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

To answer your question, N Korea and Iran do not have adequate systems of justice for any US citizens to get a fair trial.

More fool then the US citizens (or citizens of any other country) who go there regardless on their own bat and break the rules.

On a par with the ojisan who insists on climbing on the roof to check for leaks in the middle of a typhoon.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump loves to be on TV -- but not if he has to face and answer questions!

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Well credit should be given where it's due, so well done and I am glad the 3 are back home safe.

I am sure the extreme right will conveniently forget that Bill Clinton went there during Obama's time and bought back 2 journalists. The quiet way the democrats handled it then and how the extreme righties are trumpeting about it now is an interesting study.

And then there are the lies, about things which can easily be fact checked and proved otherwise.

The man has no shame.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The other two detainees hadn't been tried.

No words. Glad they seem to be in good health.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trumps in office so he gets the credit for the good things that happen and blame for the bad things. but thats the problem he doesn't accept the blame for the bad things, ever, just blames somebody else, but will happily accept the credit for all the good. Yes a broken clock is right twice a day, but majority of the time its wrong.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trump is truly a tone deaf egotistical buffoon

How so?

Let see, Trump will go to meet these people at 2AM . . . but only with the full WH press corps tagging along.

The nobel peace prize??? For a guy defending white supremacists and the worst dictators in the world. A guy who is scrapping a treaty to prevent nuclear proliferation because he wants to look tough for his nationalistic supporters. Nelson Mandella Trump is not.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

One thing is for certain - Trump will claim this is all because of him.  No one else played a part except him.  Only he could have done this.  A stable genius.  Deal maker.  And probably this would have occurred earlier if is wasn't for Obama and Hillary.  All Hail the Chief!

And then impeach him.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Congratulations, President Donald J. TRIump. . . .

You have a narrative to distract your followers.

A big three man W in trump's seA of Lies and Deceit. . . doing what Obama couldn't.

Better than Hiraldo digging up a football field in the middle of the night. Real news and progress for the nation when it happens, at 2AM. You have really elevated the nation to new highs. To bad the plane can't circle around and land during prime time. That would be large and ratings breaking.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trumps in office so he gets the credit for the good things that happen and blame for the bad things. but thats the problem he doesn't accept the blame for the bad things,

Because the left No Matter what Report ONLY bad things, they are so hyper partisan, they can’t think or do it any other way.

ever, just blames somebody else, but will happily accept the credit for all the good. Yes a broken clock is right twice a day, but majority of the time its wrong.

Obama did the exact same thing, so I don’t see there’s a difference.

Those poor men. From one nation of brainwashers to another.

That’s how I feel about almost every left wing European.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Liberals, this is what HOPE and CHANGE really looks like.

Congratulations, President Donald J. TRIump. . . .

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Wouldnt it be crazy if Kim Jong Un got off this plane too?

Or if the yesterday flight to N Korea was actually taking Kim back to NK, where he released the hostages once he safely arrived? Already met Trump in DC last week? Wow speculation IS actually kinda fun....

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

CNN sounds kinda resentful, like this should be no big deal for the President to even bother to get out of bed for.

"It's very unusual for a US President or any President to arrive in the middle of evening basically...but the President clearly wants to mark this as a major milestone."

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Those of us watching this event now being broadcast live here in the States realize President Trump continues to MAGA, one day at a time. . . . .

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

So funny that people hate Trump so much that they won't even give him credit for this or anything positive. A broken clock can be right at least once a day you know. Good on you Trump, now keep the trend going.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

Correct. So instead of “strategically ignoring” NKorea we are trying to help their people by negotiating with their dictator. You know Americans, we want “democracy” everywhere for all people.

Sending the government of Iran pallets of cash to continue funding their brutal regime and their terrorist groups was counterproductive to this. But Trump tried to talk to them anyway.. they just won’t listen until they run out of that Obama cash, so sanctions for now.

To to be correct North Korea and Iran do not have adequate systems of justice for any person, domestic or foreign.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Well done, President Trump. The positives just keep coming!

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

In 2016, for instance, Iran released four prisoners -- including Saeed Abedini, Amir Mirzaei Hekmati and Post reporter Rezaian -- as part of a deal to free seven Iranians imprisoned in the US.

thats how the last guy did things. Planes of cash and uneven swaps, 4 in return for 7? Liberals can’t math.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

No didn’t forget. Thanks for the reminder that it isn’t only Trump who can do things Obama can’t.

I mean did anybody in any country ever do anything for just Obama without cash payments or trades for more than what came back?

I am sure the extreme right will conveniently forget that Bill Clinton went there during Obama's time and bought back 2 journalists.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Ah so that’s the liberal spin. trump is bad because he is releasing people from foreign countries who deserved to stay in those countries and face “justice” for their “crimes”.

Let’s get the Hawaii judge on this, he can put an injunction on their release and send these criminals back to NK before they land. Imagine the look on the orange dotard’s face as the plane is made to turn back! Imagine the liberal media joy!

To answer your question, N Korea and Iran do not have adequate systems of justice for any US citizens to get a fair trial. So we call them “hostages”. Foreigners in the US however seem to get more rights than even citizens do, so they are fine.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

And you don’t care that Obama WAS president for an entire year of Otto Warmbier’s captivity. You know, the guy who died, remember him?

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Three Americans coming home and no pallets of cash required for their return.

Well done, Mr. President!!!!

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Do you mean like Trump blaming Obama for not getting all three of these men released during his term?

And Trump did what Obama couldn’t do.

Trump is truly a tone deaf egotistical buffoon

How so?

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

That makes 14 US citizens that have been released from foreign countries since Trump started. That’s kinda inconvenient for obama protecting liberals, how’d he do in this area again? Seems all the apologies would have gotten something in return, no?

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

Another Trump win.

-9 ( +6 / -15 )

The wee-hours ceremony Thursday was to be an early celebration for an issue that has already put the prospect of a Nobel Peace Prize on Trump's mind.

In actuality the Peace Prize idea originated with the president of South Korea. Regardless, Trump should know better than to believe that the Nobel Committee would award the Peace Prize to him no matter how much he contributes to world peace. They are not the same unbiased and clear thinking organization they used to be.

Welcome home guys. Your former boss went over and got you out. And it wasn't Trump.

That’s like saying Obama didn’t kill bin Laden because Bush set up the military infrastructure in the region used to get him before his successor took office. Trumps in office so he gets the credit for the good things that happen and blame for the bad things. That’s how it goes.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

zichi: even though I already brought you up to date on the facts that two of those detainees where detained last year, 2017 when Trump was prez, not Obama.

So it was Trumps fault that the hostages were taken? So I guess it was Obama’s fault that Otto Warmbier was taken and then so mistreated that he died a few days after Trump got him released? Come on - that’s beyond just petty.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Even the headlines are snarky, will it ever stop? no, I dont think it will.

Freed detainees head home for big welcome, featuring Trump

Why would it not be featuring Trump? He is the one who got them released. He even got Otto released, but unfortunately it was too late.

Shut up you partisan hack Chuck. Even positive things with this guy always has a hit job at the end.

On Capitol Hill, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer celebrated the detainees' return but warned that "we'll see many more hostages" if the administration provides an incentive for imprisoning Americans.
