"Whatever happened to the free press?

Trump must be talking about Russia, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey and other totalitarian states where the rulers control what's reported and how it's reported.

It's clear Trump and his bund are trying to further undermine what remains of a free press in the US.

Telling BIG LIES.

24 ( +32 / -8 )

What a beautiful rally that was! CNN's resident windbag Jim Acosta endured deafening chants of "CNN sucks" live on air and had to sit there and deservedly eat it.

Meanwhile the latest Rasmussen poll has President Trump's approval rating at an unprecedented 50% and climbing.

-36 ( +9 / -45 )

Trump’s trying to force his own reality into his base.

The media can’t be trusted. The courts can’t be trusted. The intelligence agencies can’t be trusted. The only thing you should ever believe must come from Trump himself and that’s the real story.

And his base is falling for it despite knowing that he’s a proven scammer and known liar.

28 ( +36 / -8 )

Trump must be talking about Russia, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey and other totalitarian states where the rulers control what's reported and how it's reported.

No, he was talking exclusively about the majority of the US MSM.

It's clear Trump and his bund are trying to further undermine what remains of a free press in the US.

The free press only undermine the President regardless of what he does, if he cured cancer, they would complain about it. No one is saying the media has to look at the President ONLY in a positive light, but the MSM ONLY view this President and what he does in a negative light. They can report what they want, the viewers and readers don’t have to consume it.

Telling BIG LIES

Bingo.

-30 ( +7 / -37 )

Here come the Trump-hating Trolls!

-25 ( +9 / -34 )

Another temper tantrum by the drama queen by the name of Donald J. Trump.

He is the main source of disinformation, fake news and misinformation and the biggest threat to U.S. national security and world peace.

20 ( +26 / -6 )

Meanwhile the latest Rasmussen poll has President Trump's approval rating at an unprecedented 50% and climbing.

Unprecedented? I don't think it means what you think it means... Rasmussen has consistently pegged Trump's approval rating at around 50%, so it's nothing new. Meanwhile, the average of all polls shows his approval at 41%, an unprecedented low for a president this many days into the job.

26 ( +30 / -4 )

CNN - I rest my case!

-21 ( +8 / -29 )

Trumps just telling it like it is. We're tired of beingspoon fed garbage bupy so called "news" outlets.

-25 ( +8 / -33 )

President Donald Trump unleashed a torrent of grievances Thursday at a Pennsylvania campaign rally in which he cast journalists as his true political opponent.

Still hasn't learned his lesson, I see. Journalists across the world lose their lives to bring us the truth. Only dictators portray the press as the enemy.

It was interesting how Trump deplorables booed and hissed Acosta, they went up to him after the cameras were switched off to get selfies and autographs from him and asked him loads of questions.

The atmosphere was likened to one of those pro-wrestling matches that some are fanatical about.

You know; those fake "sporting" events where everyone pretends to be angry and violent and participants are adorned in bright colors?

Bright colors stimulate audiences, a bit like the Teletubbies, but not as believable.

20 ( +23 / -3 )

Unprecedented? I don't think it means what you think it means... Rasmussen has consistently pegged Trump's approval rating at around 50%, so it's nothing new. Meanwhile, the average of all polls shows his approval at 41%, an unprecedented low for a president this many days into the job.

So that’s ok for Trump, it still means he has been pretty much consistent throughout the polls.

-24 ( +2 / -26 )

“Fake, fake disgusting news”

Coming from a man who cites trash conspiracy theories from the National Enquirer.

29 ( +31 / -2 )

So that’s ok for Trump, it still means he has been pretty much consistent throughout the polls.

OK, for Trump, bad for the 52.8% of the country that disapproves.

18 ( +21 / -3 )

Still hasn't learned his lesson, I see. Journalists across the world lose their lives to bring us the truth. Only dictators portray the press as the enemy.

But not all journalists speak the truth, many journalists will lie and contort the truth for ratings, clicks, competitiveness.

It was interesting how Trump deplorables booed and hissed Acosta, they went up to him after the cameras were switched off to get selfies and autographs from him and asked him loads of questions.

As bad as Acosta is and with the numerous of documented lies he’s been caught up in over and over again, you would think he would have learned given the fact, that network has fired more pundits than McDonald’s.

You know; those fake "sporting" events where everyone pretends to be angry and violent and participants are adorned in bright colors?

Funny, when left journalists complain about conservatives they seem to be right in their analysis, the other way around, it just hate speech and a desire to oppress the left. ROFL

-26 ( +1 / -27 )

So that’s ok for Trump, it still means he has been pretty much consistent throughout the polls.

That is true, his unpopularity has been quite consistent in the polls.

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Coming from a man who cites trash conspiracy theories from the National Enquirer.

And re-tweets garbage from vile UK racists . And lies to the people of the US each and every day.

These rallies are to stoke his ego. Before the fall.

And it will be a spectacular fall from grace.

If he had any to begin with.

15 ( +20 / -5 )

And lies to the people of the US each and every day.

And the media triples their lies and they wonder why their ratings are tanking.

These rallies are to stoke his ego. Before the fall.

6 years later he should be falling for exhaustion.

That is true, his unpopularity has been quite consistent in the polls.

But it’s rising among Republicans going into the 80s wow!

-24 ( +3 / -27 )

But not all journalists speak the truth, many journalists will lie and contort the truth for ratings, clicks, competitiveness.

Very true. A discerning mind is needed.

So what do you think of Trump citing trash conspiracy theories from the National Enquirer and retweeting dodgy racist trash from the net?

Is that fake news or is that Trump just telling it as it is?

17 ( +20 / -3 )

@cochise CNN - I rest my case!

We're tired of beingspoon fed garbage bupy so called "news" outlets.

Which ‘we’ are you referring to? A free press means different things to different people. Most media outlets are for profit and appeal to certain markets. If the outlets lose readers, they lose profits. The US has laws against slander and libel which restricts what outlets report and how they report it.

I (speaking for myself) like the reality that I can choose from an array of online sites to find news and opinions. That a limited number of companies have largest market share is a concern, but as long as individuals have options that are FREE from government control, I (speaking for myself) won’t worry.

I do find it extremely worrying, however, that Trump and his bund in the US and ‘abroad’ continue to undermine what the media do.

I do find it worrying that Trump and his bund shout ‘fake news’ whenever outlets print news from perspectives different from theirs.

And if you don’t like CNN, you can switch to Fox ‘news’ or RT, Al Jazeera, any number of others.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Very true. A discerning mind is needed.

Glad we agree.

So what do you think of Trump citing trash conspiracy theories from the National Enquirer and retweeting dodgy racist trash from the net?

People make mistakes all the time, the National Enquirer is a nostalgic paper, some articles are legit and some not.

Is that fake news or is that Trump just telling it as it is?

Both

-24 ( +1 / -25 )

It's quite scary how the goalposts shift everytime this man opens his mouth.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45053406

Even his daughter is contradicting him.

He famously re-tweeted images of muslims throwing homosexuals off of tall buildings, a common occurrence in muslim countries. This is an important warning to the West.

Not surprised some here would get confused.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/nov/29/trump-account-retweets-anti-muslim-videos-of-british-far-right-leader

As you have openly declared yourself a homosexual here on JT, do you not struggle with these conflicting messages?

I've not declared anything here on JT but I would struggle with the agenda of the far right, yes.

Your lying sex pest of a President is putting the lives of journalists at risk.

Why do you support that?

16 ( +18 / -2 )

These rallies remind me of the old newsreels of Mussolini addressing the adoring multitudes. After all, Mussolini was a clown, too. Just not a very funny one, and dangerous with it.

19 ( +20 / -1 )

But it’s rising among Republicans going into the 80s wow!

True, most Republicans are in their 80s.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Donald Trump will be remembered as one, if not, the greatest US President in history.

Build that wall!!

@PTownsend, just saying I agree with your post. I am, yet again, unable to up or down vote certain posts, so just wanted to give positive feedback and express my concerns at the dangerous situation Trump has brought about.

14 ( +16 / -2 )

Trump recently called a UK tabloid fake news for printing what he said, and then lied about saying it at a press conference despite it being on tape.

Anyone can listen to it. It’s cringeworthy to hear.

17 ( +18 / -1 )

I've not declared anything here on JT but I would struggle with the agenda of the far right, yes.

Yeah, you have. Just yesterday, in fact.

*Now WE'RE more visible and here to stay, so you can either accept it or switch off.*

So you do struggle with my last point, yes?

Your lying sex pest of a President is putting the lives of journalists at risk.

Has not been accused of anything let alone admitted to anything. Perhaps you have President Trump confused with PM GROPE up in Canada.

Not one journalist has been harmed in the name of Trump. The only violence you see today is leftist against conservatives.

Antifa, anyone?

-16 ( +3 / -19 )

Poor precious Trump. He can't take the exact type of press coverage that his predecessors endured - sure, they may at times have complained, but they did not personalize it.

Trump is too narcissistic to avoid personalizing anything, even this rally, which was purportedly to support a GOP Senate candidate who typically became an afterthought.

Trump could, though, revert back to his old habits of calling the press using a pseudonym - say, John Barron - to extol his many achievements. That to him was "real news," I suppose.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The only violence you see today is leftist against conservatives.

Seriously? What about that woman killed by a white nationalist at the now famous rally in Charlottesville? To name just one example.

These rallies remind me of the old newsreels of Mussolini addressing the adoring multitudes. After all, Mussolini was a clown, too. Just not a very funny one, and dangerous with it.

-17 ( +5 / -22 )

Seriously? What about that woman killed by a white nationalist at the now famous rally in Charlottesville? To name just one example.

Interesting spin. The woman was killed by accident as the man was trying to escape Antifa scum from assaulting him.

Also interesting that you had to go back a year to find even one false example. Meanwhile, you literally are taking your life in your hands when you do nothing but wear a MAGA hat.

Leftists are the overwhelming source of violence. It is indisputable.

-22 ( +4 / -26 )

Every time we hear President Swamp say the words 'fake news', all we need to do is to mentally delete the 'fake' part. He is simply referring to news, a lot of which is naturally negative about him because he generates such vast quantities of negativity with his dishonesty, incompetence and degeneracy.

15 ( +18 / -3 )

A free and independent press is the bedrock of a democratic society. For Trump to attack it shows his desire to undermine democracy and emulate the authoritarian dictators he so loves.

The one glimmer of hope in all this is that there are signs the participants at his rallies may not be entirely sincere in their complicity in his attacks. Some have reported that for example, at the rally where Jim Acosta was so vehemently attacked by the crowd, as soon as the rally was over they started treating him like awestruck fans. In effect, the people at his rallies may be treating the media more like a wrestling heel than with sincere hatred.

It'll be small comfort to all those politico-wrestling fans, of course, if even one person in the crowd is stirred up into enough sincere hatred to follow up with violence.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Interesting spin. The woman was killed by accident as the man was trying to escape Antifa scum from assaulting him.

Gee, I wonder why he was charged and then indicted by a grand jury with murder then.

Also interesting that you had to go back a year to find even one false example.

Still more than the zero examples you have given, and a year old is hardly ancient history.

Leftists are the overwhelming source of violence. It is indisputable.

No, it is disputable. I dispute it.

18 ( +20 / -2 )

Interesting fact of the day;

President Trump is looking into new and tough voter ID laws.

Take away the illegal vote, and the Democrats are finished. Its all they have.

http://dailycaller.com/2017/06/16/this-list-of-attacks-against-conservatives-is-mind-blowing/

It includes this doozy;

James Hodgkinson opened fire on a congressional GOP baseball practice, injuring five, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

@serrano CNN and MSNBC write nauseating tripe every day.

This someone who parrots RT/Sputnik lines and posts youtube videos made by people who do the same.

But I guess that shows that with a free press people can choose sources that reflect their perspectives and beliefs.

Protect a free press!

12 ( +12 / -0 )

True, most Republicans are in their 80s.

In Congress you are soooo right. Thank god for millennial conservatives.

Seriously? What about that woman killed by a white nationalist at the now famous rally in Charlottesville? To name just one example

Ok, but the list of leftists attacking conservatives is longer than a giraffes neck.

-18 ( +2 / -20 )

They can report what they want, the viewers and readers don’t have to consume it. same goes for FOXs Hannity and his unfounded lies

10 ( +12 / -2 )

Tough voter ID laws are not aimed at eliminating the non-problem of in-person voter fraud which has taken place in seven cases out of the last billion votes cast, but rather is aimed squarely at disenfranchising legitimately registered blacks who would reliably vote Democrat if their legal right to vote was not falsely stolen away from them.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

Was Nixon as anxious as Trump is now about the Mueller probe?

"First, I think what we are seeing is more than anxiety on the part of Donald Trump, we are seeing seeing a president who is behaving and acting unhinged. Nixon did not really publicly act unhinged, but I think we need to look at something larger and that is in Watergate the system worked. The president of the United States did not publicly declare the press an enemy of the people and seek to undermine the First Amendment and the very legitimacy of what the press did although he did try to make our conduct the issue or an issue rather than his own conduct. But really, President Trump has taken the question of the free exercise of the First Amendment and whipped up a kind of hysteria unlike any other president in our history, but more than that I think it's time to recognize that what we are watching in the Trump presidency is worse than Watergate. It's worse than Watergate as I say because the system worked in Watergate. The heroes of Watergate were Republicans who demanded that the president be held accountable, who demanded that he be transparent, who demanded to know what did the president know and when did he know it . . . whereas the Republicans on Capital Hill have done everything to impede the investigation."

The one incident was not an exhaustive list:

White supremacists and other far-right extremists were responsible for 59% of all extremist-related fatalities in the US in 2017, according to the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) Center on Extremism. The ADL’s annual report—“Murder and Extremism in the United States in 2017”— found that the number of murders conducted by white supremacists US more than doubled last year, compared to 2016.

What kind of a president goads a crowd of supporters into heckling journalists who are there to report on the event? Since when is bullying considered honorable?

It doesn’t matter if you’re left or right, red, blue, or purple. Whatever you think of Trump’s policy positions, as a human being he is a despicable, narcissistic bully.

Anyone who can’t see that is seriously deluded.

16 ( +17 / -1 )

He can't take the exact type of press coverage that his predecessors endured - sure, they may at times have complained, but they did not personalize it.

Oh, I remember when a certain president was angry at FNC and he and Anita Dunn trid to ban FNC from the White House.

Trump is too narcissistic to avoid personalizing anything, even this rally, which was purportedly to support a GOP Senate candidate who typically became an afterthought.

Let me guess, liberals will think that is in somehow or someway illegal, right?

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

In Congress you are soooo right. Thank god for millennial conservatives.

My understanding is that while millennial support for Democrats has declined in the past year, they still prefer that party to the Republicans by a wide margin, and overwhelmingly dislike Trump (as distinct from their opinion on the GOP in general, which is a bit more favorable).

9 ( +10 / -1 )

They can report what they want, the viewers and readers don’t have to consume it.  same goes for FOXs Hannity and his unfounded lies

Yup! The journalist with the least amount attractions among almost any other cable pendant, has one of the highest rated shows. On cable TV so the numbers and viewers suggest otherwise. No wonder Zucker and Griffin are pulling their hairs out.

I remember when a certain president was angry at FNC and he and Anita Dunn trid to ban FNC from the White House.

Do you also remember Ohama repeatedly pointing out FNC reporters at his rallies and calling them disgusting enemies of the people? Or calling accurate news about him that wasn’t flattering “fake”?

I don’t.

Trump is deranged.

15 ( +18 / -3 )

The more this idiot screams, the more this dotard complains, the more bad tempered the display you know

he is telling lies. The bigger the noise, the bigger the lies.

He is the largest threat to America. He is the largest threat to their economy. He is the largest threat to Global

Peace. And no matter what happens, his personal fortune just grows on his voters misery.

“They don’t report it. They only make up stories.”

I’d like to know if the Trump supporters here agree with this analysis.

"Wow, highest Poll Numbers in the history of the Republican Party. That includes Honest Abe Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. There must be something wrong, please recheck that poll!"

You're welcome.

legitimately registered back voters de facto have ID. You are perpetuating the obnoxious myth that blacks are too stupid to even obtain a drivers license ID.

Kaishu - Obamas inflated numbers mere days after taking office is beyond a joke. Why did you avoid showing what it was in his last year in office? It was constantly 48% or lower.

President Trump, is currently at 50% despite an unprecedented campaign of hatred against him by the MSM.

When you look at it with eyes wide open, it is remarkable.

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

Interesting fact of the day;

President Trump is looking into new and tough voter ID laws.

Another interesting fact, Trump thinks you need an ID to buy groceries. A true man of the people...

And whatever happened to the evidence that Trump promised would be coming regarding the millions of illegal voters?

Take away the illegal vote, and the Democrats are finished. Its all they have.

If the illegal vote was significant at all, Trump would have revealed proof like he promised. The fact is, when everyone votes, Democrats win. Most of the population actually likes the idea of things like medicare for all and social programs, that's just common sense. There's a reason why it's the GOP that pushes to suppress votes.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

Rasmussen Reports;

Todays (August 3, 2018) President Trump approval rating among black voters: 29%

Another one! Is there a code of practice among Trump supporters to find the poll with the numbers you like and run with it? This is unbelievably common. The other rule in this book seems to be to mix and match numbers from polls to show his rising popularity.

Can we stick with the average of polls? It’s not perfect but this cherry-picking nonsense is ridiculous.

It’s almost as bad as reading a bonehead conspiracy theory in one source, say the National Enquirer, and running with that.

Only a moron would do that. We are not morons here. Show some respect for fellow posters.

I don’t.

I do, vividly.

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

Amazing -- Trump actually called Fox News "fake, fake, disgusting news." Anything to say, Trump supporters?

13 ( +13 / -0 )

I do not have time for those triggered by "hate facts". There is no such thing

Cherry-picking is intellectually dishonest. It does not stand up as a valid way to make a point.

Very shady.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Trump is a treasonous coward, and what he has been saying EVERY time he has been on the air ("NO COLLUSION!") is about to be proven wrong, so he is ramping up his attacks on the media so later he can claim they are false and keep his brainwashed supporters with him and say, "See? Look at what they are saying now?"

The facts seem to indicate he has colluded with an enemy government to win the election, and I Believe there are illegalities in that. And yet, ALREADY people like bass, who have said there is no collusion, that the love affairs were lies, etc., starting to say, "Well, so what if he colluded? He wasn't lying... he was just speaking like Americans and pointing out.... well... what about hillary?"

14 ( +16 / -2 )

Of course Benedict Traitor is trying to obstruct with justice! He knows he's doing wrong and his occupation of the WH is illegal. He keeps on repeating that 'witch hunt' crap because he is GUILTY. If he were innocent he wouldn't be so obsessed as he is.

The constant mention of no collusion and calling for the investigations to be shut down, then the changing narrative of collusion not being a crime... this is an administration desperately flailing around.

Make no mistake - the enemy of the people is not the press who report the truth about the PotUS and his minions. The enemy is standing there, inciting hatred and trying to obstruct justice.

Not just an enemy of the American people, but an enemy of world peace and stability.

14 ( +15 / -1 )

legitimately registered back voters de facto have ID. You are perpetuating the obnoxious myth that blacks are too stupid to even obtain a drivers license ID.

Statistically, blacks are less likely than average to have access to drivers' licenses or other forms of ID, due to various economic and social factors. To suggest that this has anything at all to do with being stupid is, well, stupid. The lack of acceptable ID in some cases prevents legitimate registration for voting. Anybody not aware of this problem has no business referring to it on here.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Say what you will but since he became president, the US economy has grown better than it was forecast. Whataboism maybe a thing in Trumps fantasy land but it doesn't hold up in a court of law.

Unfortunately, about 95% of the articles about the current POTUS published by the MSM--including Japan Today---are anti-Trump. I urge you to broaden your perspective by adding a balanced publication to your daily reading, such as The Drudge Report, that includes many sources from alternative news sites.

Ah, the trashy birther/conspiracy theory/anti vaccine/ garbage report.

Classy.

Luckily JT is an actual media outlet which has plenty of sources that don't rely on pure trash.

For every report about Trump, the news should replace it about a report on climate change. Day after day, week after week. Environmental news, science, advances, issues, panels, awards etc. As long as the muppet is in office

"We do have something here that was unlike Watergate in that a foreign adversary is involved in the hacking of the DNC, with Watergate it just started with a bungled burglary and expanded beyond that. . . . I think we're still in the middle of a cover-up and I never feared for the country during Watergate. I fear for the country and I fear for our democracy right now. I have a knot in my stomach and it's been there ever since Donald Trump won the election. I never had that with Nixon. I knew he would ultimately apply and follow the law. With Trump I'm not so sure."

Unfortunately, about 95% of the articles about the current POTUS published by the MSM--including Japan Today---are anti-Trump.

They may be anti-Trump, but they contain facts.

I urge you to broaden your perspective by adding a balanced publication to your daily reading, such as The Drudge Report, that includes many sources from alternative news sites.

The Drudge Report is your example of balanced? It promoted the fake birther conspiracy and Pizzagate conspiracy among other stories that have been thoroughly debunked. How often and badly does a source have to get it wrong before you give it up?

Yeah, you have. Just yesterday, in fact.

Ah, missed your reply, apologies for the lateness.

Now WE'RE more visible and here to stay, so you can either accept it or switch off.

So you do struggle with my last point, yes?

Your last point had nothing to do with the topic, though.

When I said "we", I was referring to representation of those who are often sidelined - women/poc/bame/LGBT etc.

Those who have been maligned by a sex pest, a bigot and man trying to turn back equalities.

I never get into specifics about my own personal details as I find some individuals tend to use it as ammunition against the poster.

In relation to the topic, obfuscation and deflection, misdirection and falsehoods are the shiny currency for Trump supporters. They are not actually interested in the truth. As I said earlier, it's like a pro-wrestling bout. A game.

And it feeds the monstrous ego of the man. A symbiotic relationship, of sorts.

To be honest, just how many of these Trump "supporting" posters are actually agents of hostile nations against the US?  Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites had to delete a ton of accounts with ties to hostile activities against the US that specifically target our society's political views and social perspectives.

They know that "United we stand, divided we fall" is what is spurring them to try and divide our society from the seams.   Why would Russians want to support the NRA?  Simple.   Create an division in US society and hopefully encourage more Americans to believe that owning a gun and making it easier for more Americans to own guns will cause us to murder each other more often.... which we're already doing, and they're happy to help cause more of this.   Why lift a finger with war, when you can make your enemy destroy itself for you?

And people like Bass, Black, etc. play the fiddler's tune because the fiddler knows what will make them follow their lead.   They tell them what they want to hear, and they'll bend down prostrate to lick their boots. As I said before, these hostile agents know how to play you, and you're stupidly following them without so much as a question about it.  Instead focusing on denial, misdirection,  and conspiracy rather than face the truth which is staring our society straight in the face.  Such blind ignorant, "patriotism" is what people that lack the intellect to truly comprehend what the US and it's constitution truly stands for.   The leaders and governments of China, Russia, Iran, and other authoritarian corrupt regimes/oligarchies would like to thank you whole-heartedly for your foolishness and assistance in destroying the US.   You're making their jobs so much easier.   I'm sure if they could, they'd hold ceremonies in their countries for you to give you medals.

A country is only as important as it's people, not it's government, nor it's leaders.   A DEMOCRATIC government is only as stable as the wisdom of the choices that the majority of the PEOPLE of that country.

A healthy society is only as competent as the people who present it.... Right now the US is filled with incompetence representing the "majority" of our society.  Or, they may just be foreign hostiles engaging in social commentary warfare in attempts to disrupt social unity and stability in US and Western society.

I still find it funny that instead of putting those resources towards improving social stability and equality in their own countries, they'd prefer to use them to attempt to destroy others in the misguided perception that it will make themselves more "powerful".

Happy, comfortable, and stable citizens/societies = strong, supportive, productive and peaceful countries.

Trump trashes media as 'fake, fake disgusting news' at rally

Paraphrase: It is unfair that you don't believe the lies that I tell you. If you don't trust me then how I can use my position to make money for my company. How I can avoid being indicted for illegal business practices. It isn't fair because I'm rich, and my associate's illegal activities might expose me too. Too many people are checking everything I say. I am not use to that.

End the Mueller investigation now!

14 ( +14 / -0 )

End the Mueller investigation now!

That's a possibility but an unlikely one. Trump knows Mueller's report will make him look very bad - perhaps impeachably bad - but because impeachment is a political process, which in turn reflects (somewhat) public sentiment, Trump is salting the soil now with negative sentiment about Mueller, the media, and those who have turned against him.

He's clearly panicked, but he has little other choice but to take the confidence Americans have in their institutions down with him. And as Silvafan said, some are buying it, Pied Piper-style.

"One of the things that one would hope that we would see in the reporting from the newspapers, from the networks, from Bob's (Woodward) book, is the question of whether or not this president is acting in a competent and coherent manner because every evidence that we see so far is that he is incoherent and not competent in terms of how he is conducting the presidency and the policies of the United States. . . . All of these questions are related to the Russia investigation, to what we saw in Helsinki. What the hell happened in Helsinki?! We don't know. Did what we see occur on the stage happen because of incompetence or because of nefariousness on the part of the president of the United States? This is unprecedented! We have never had a president of the United States whose loyalty has been called into question by responsible members of both parties in the Congress of the United States. It's never happened!"

But collusion doesn’t amount to crime has been committed or even an impeachable one.

The facts seem to indicate he has colluded with an enemy government to win the election,

Over two years an not a shred of evidence that it either swayed the election or that Trump was involved in anything remotely that would be considered a criminal act.

and I Believe there are illegalities in that. And yet, ALREADY people like bass, who have said there is no collusion, that the love affairs were lies, etc., starting to say, "Well, so what if he colluded? He wasn't lying... he was just speaking like Americans and pointing out.... well... what about hillary?"

And yet, the public says otherwise, his number are climbing, the left is in total disarray and still the begs to ask the question, what crime was committed and let’s say for arguments sake Trump was charged with some bogus obstruction charge, then what?

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

I don't believe everything I read in the news and I don't believe anything that comes out of his mouth.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

@bass4funk

But collusion doesn’t amount to crime has been committed or even an impeachable one.

Collusion isn't a crime, but a collection of crimes!

An example of a “collusion” crime, the special counsel’s February and July 2018 indictments against alleged Russian hackers charged them with conspiracy to defraud the United States. Their cyber-misconduct defrauded the government by interfering with federal elections. If Trump campaign operatives were a part of that — say, by coordinating the release of hacked DNC emails with Russian operatives or planning speeches or other campaign events around those releases — then the campaign, too, could plausibly be a part of the conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Again, there is already enough evidence to warrant searching review, such as the fact that within hours of the Russian offer of dirt, Trump announced a major speech promising revelations about his opponent (a speech that he would promise again the following week but never actually deliver). Such campaign encouragement of, or involvement in, illegal Russian activity would not just implicate conspiracy law. The Russian conduct appears to have violated federal anti-hacking statutes, such as the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the Wiretap Act. The Wiretap Act is especially relevant because we know that the Russians infected the DNC servers with malware that transmitted emails to the Russians’ main server in real time. They were literally intercepting communications, one of the precise activities the act criminalizes.

Even if members of the campaign didn’t encourage or direct that hack, they could still be subject to prosecution for aiding and abetting — in lay terms, helping — a violation of those statutes. Aiding and abetting liability could become a factor if, for example, campaign operatives took a step to make sure the Russians used the hacked materials in the best possible way. (Indeed, campaign aides could even have directly violated the Wiretap Act if they themselves used the contents of any illegally intercepted communication, if they knew or had reason to know the communication was intercepted illegally.)

Nor do the varieties of possible criminal “collusion” with Russia end there. If the president knowingly accepted something of value from the Russians, such as harmful information about his opponent, that could be an illegal contribution by foreign nationals. That is an election law crime. If he accepted that information in exchange for the promise of some action (like taking a more accommodating posture toward the Russian invasion of Ukraine) that he or his administration would take if his campaign proved successful, that could constitute an illegal quid pro quo — that is, bribery.

What if the Russians only informed the campaign about their plans to disseminate stolen emails and the campaign did something that interfered with the crime being uncovered? That could constitute the crime of misprision of a felony — essentially of hiding crimes. And if any money transfers were involved to further the collusion — like if the Russians wired money to the National Rifle Association to avoid FEC scrutiny — that could violate the money laundering statute. Both would be forms of illegally working with the Russians. In a word: “collusion.”

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Collusion isn't a crime, but a collection of crimes!

I get it, but to make a long story short it doesn’t mean even with the collection of supposed alleged crimes that the President committed an impeachable act. No one on JT can definitively make the claim or prove either way otherwise we all would be on the legal teams. One thing is for sure if there was a real red flag that would stick to the President Adam Spliff would be the first to scream it from the mountain top!

Hmm, coming from Trump, the biggest liar of them all. Using his 'Chumpian' logic, anyone can now call news that he or she dislikes 'fake news', regardless of whether it's true or not. Trump has lowered the bar to ground level (the lowest the bar can go).

10 ( +10 / -0 )

I wish Trump would cite examples of "fake news" when he goes on these rants. As far as I can tell Trump spends most of his time telling lies, making him the source of much of the "fake news".

8 ( +8 / -0 )

That isn't true because

Many fall under the rubric of conspiracy: an agreement to further illegal action. The core federal conspiracy statute, 18 U.S.C. § 371, would be triggered here if there were any agreement by Trump or those around him with Russian agents to do something that the law forbids.

Which means if found guilty of any of them then it would be an impeachable offense like Clinton for lying to certain people and Nixon for everything.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Ha Spliff!! A hilarious joke. If you're a kid.

Disney was a kid at heart, he got it right.

Nope.

That isn't true because

The left has said that so many times and so far, they were almost proven wrong every single time.

Which means if found guilty of any of them then it would be an impeachable offense like Clinton for lying to certain people and Nixon for everything

Ok, let’s say he gets impeached, then what? The Senate won’t convict him. All that work for nothing.

@Disney4funk

Ok, let’s say he gets impeached, then what? The Senate won’t convict him. All that work for nothing.

Do you have any sense of justice other than what people on your side can get away with?

I wasn't happy with Bill Clinton getting away with what he did regardless of who was conducting the investigation. I also, as a liberal and Democrat, despise the DNC's cronyism and corruption. I voted for Hillary in 2016, holding my nose as I did it. Had she won, I would be calling her to account, especially on foreign policy, as I did for Obama. Everybody can have an independent voice. It's not Team A versus Team B, you know. No need to get tribal, old chap.

So, would you happy with Trump getting away with something wrong, simply because he's your man?

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Trump will survive this.

What I’m interested in is exposing him to the world, and exposing his base and the Republican Party overall as corrupt, spineless traitors. The kind of things that sticks to a party for a generation.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Plasticmonkey, David Frum wrote about this recently, saying that, while parsing vocabulary and being specific about precise terms in relation to actions is important, there is no getting away from the growing stench. "Collusion" may not be a crime but it is still selling out the US for personal gain; conviction in the Senate may not happen but this still does not remove the indelible taint from Trump's presidency.

It is obvious now, even before Mueller's report has been released. How worse could it get for Trump? - imagine being a lame duck in your third year.

Super, we'll see if he survives. His life support now consists on his innumerable rallies leading up to the midterms (and even those are turning from ideological protests to simple freak shows), but interest in those will drop off precipitously, and I don't see anything else he has to distract with (aside from war).

However it goes, 2019 looks pivotal, with a Dem House and a besieged president (increasingly even from members of his own party). He seems to be pinning his hopes NK, Iran, or China capitulating (particularly the latter), but they can smell weakness like a shark does blood and they will not. Trump is an increasingly desperate man, conviction or not.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Fake, fake disgusting President.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Ok, let’s say he gets impeached, then what? The Senate won’t convict him. All that work for nothing. and why wouldn't they,

Because they wouldn’t slit their own throats especially more and more Republicans agree that Mueller is on a witch hunt. And Nancy as bad as she is doesn’t want Pence, a hardcore professional politician and deeply religious Christian to be President that would make her rather accept and deal with Trump over Pence.

Republicans would still control the Presidency as Pence would be next in line, and as difficult it is to say Pence would be an improvement over Trump

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Do you have any sense of justice other than what people on your side can get away with?

Not these petty blips.

I agree and that’s why I support Trump, got tired of the GOP and especially despise the MSM and how much lying is for them the same as drinking a cold glass of kohl aid.

So, would you happy with Trump getting away with something wrong, simply because he's your man?

No, but as of now, Mueller and the left have crumbs and nothing more, but this guy is scrapping at the bottom that he has to try and give Manafort a life sentence for something that should be about a year in prison and a fine. Desperate to the max.

Again, if Manafort walks, Mueller is done.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

US news isn’t fake, but it is woefully lacking. Did you know that Japan’s recent weather calamities were barely mentioned, even though many, many people died? Did you there are whole continents with floods, volcanoes, wars, genocide, etc., etc., and none of that appears in US news. Instead, Fox, CNN, and the MSNBC fill the airwaves with what Trump meant or didn’t mean with his latest tweets. Folks, you either believe Trump is a moron with dementia or you believe he is the only person who can save the US from total destruction. The latest news about the latest tweet isn’t going to change your mind. Let’s get back to telling more interesting stories about the world and put Trump at the bottom of Page 4.

Trump has never claimed to be a born again Christian. He made a faustian bargain with conservative Christians that has paid off in spades for both sides. Two conservative Supreme Court justices and potentially more in the future among other things.

As for the Lefts charge of racism, the fact is all Democrats are openly racist in their public policy. Like all good racists they always have an excuse for discriminating by race. Obama’s attacks on white police, Dems support for affirmative action, discriminate impact legal theory, and anti-Asian education barriers are all examples of actual racism supported by the Left. Trump is politically incorrect but has not endorsed any policies that I am aware of that discrimate against Americans based on skin color.

As I said on another thread: interesting...

This seems to be the new tactic of the Alt-right movement : accusing the Democrats or the 'left' of racism, affirmative action is of course reversed racism, act if like they were advocates for the black case but in the meantime hoping for those boats... :)
