Trump always said that. He also pushed the development of these mRNA shots with his "operation warp speed" program, which the mainstream media criticized as too hasty and misguided. Already forgotten?
In effect, the current vaccines are Trumps creation, and ironically now the old Trump haters are most eager to force everyone to get them.
I wonder who the "disinformation crowd" is.
sunfunbun
Great job, President Biden! Exactly what needed to be said.
The fact is the disinformation crowd won't change their views, the lies own them.
Wait a minute...this must be...no, really???......Trump has said of late to go get vaccinated. He himself got vaccinated long ago. Goodness, gracious Martha.
Well, the leader has spoken to you, disinformation crowd...do as he says, eh? LOL.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Completely agree with these. The quote I've read is, "Insisting on your rights without acknowledging your responsibilities isn't freedom, it's adolescence." The unvaxxed are behaving like children.
Garthgoyle
Normally I wouldn't agree with a vaccine mandate like this one. But most Americans have been extremely irresponsible, selfish and even acted like crazy and immature adults during 2020.
When we were at the beginning of this, white dudes walking around and eating at Subway while carrying their automatic riffles and even freaking Bazookas. Why? Coz they couldn't be told to please wear a mask.
Memorial Day 2020 weekend with massive parties and signs at store declaring they wouldn't accept shoppers wearing mask.
Protests around the country against wearing mask... and same protests were about Trump 2020. You figure.
Then a guy gets killed by a cop and massive protests EVERYWHERE in the country, blocking highways and other roads, mayhem and anarchy running wild, all in the name of "black lives matter." Chaos going in Portland city and civilians taking over police stations.
All of that while all of a sudden, they all forgot about Covid.
Then the rallies by the orange and him declaring "we have turned the curve on this virus" and declaring victory. All in the name of more votes and they all blindly followed, no masks, no social distancing, total disregard to the virus situation.
Selfishness and irresponsibility left and right, north and south.
It's good to have freedom. But you HAVE TO be responsible with it.
Ahora cojan pa' que gozen. Don't know how to translate this into English in a way that makes the same sense.

We no longer have a COVID problem. America has multiple safe and highly effective vaccines in ample supply with the infrastructure to rapidly distribute them (none of the latter existed when Cheeto-Jesus was ejected from the White House.)
What we have is a moronic cultist problem.
“I won’t take a safe, effective, proven vaccination because (select one or more of the following) “Ma freedumb”, some opaque religious objection not supported by the governing body of my faith, “something I read on FB”, other.....
BUT, I will gladly take horse de-wormer.
This is the definition of stupid.
So yeah, we the rational literate majority, and we are the overwhelming majority, have had enough. And our legally elected President is going to take lawful actions to keep us safe but making life unpleasant for those too stupid (and often too selfish) to act in the interests of public health in an interconnected society.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Yes, as of August 2nd, at least 70% of the population, according to your link, had at least one shot.
I don't know. It's possible that some didn't, I suppose. I'm not really sure how that's relevant though, it's not like there was a huge spike in the number of vaccinations in the past few months.
I don't think the media lied. That's your opinion- not mine. If you want to argue over the exactitude of saying "70% of the population is vaccinated" after receiving at least one shot, be my guest, but I don't think that is "false goal," after all we can see how anti-vax conservatives on this site are.
Yes! Absolutely. The places that are lagging in vaccinations are leading in deaths and hospitalizations. That isn't a coincidence.
stormcrow
Pres. Biden is absolutely right. As a matter of fact, you might even say he didn't go far enough. The unvaccinated who are whining about their freedom to walk around unvaccinated and unmasked are extremely selfish in their thinking. The other day there was a report of an American elementary school teacher who, and this is very recent, taught class unvaccinated and uinmasked. Two weeks later half of the children in that teacher's class had gotten the coronavirus . . . from just this one selfish teacher. The unvaccinated are now a social health threat to not only themselves but to everybody else as well. Don't let them on planes. Don't let them ride the bus. Don't let in restaurants. And for goodness sake, don't let them teach our children in the classroom.
It's time for everyone to do their patriotic duty and get vaccinated. Remember, this is not a political issue. This is all about protecting yourself and those around you.
GdTokyo
All the arguments of anti-vaccine cultists are specious.
At this point they are willfully obtuse and have disqualified themselves from the conversation.
At this point we have a pandemic of unvaccinated cultists, morons and egoists. They, not the Biden administration, are the reason we cannot get pat this
Yes, In a democracy the legally elected government can make reasonable restrictions in the interest of public health. Happens every day without impinging on you precious “Freedumbs”
Its even better when it is supported by a majority of the electorate and make no mistake, make mandates and vaccination requirements to take full part in society have very solid majorities even in so-called Red states.
This is Biden (and Howard Stern of “Duck your freedumb”) speaking for us saying “We, the rational majority, have had enough of your idiocy. Get on board with stopping this pandemic or prepare for reasonable restrictions on public life.”
And it’s not only Biden, a fact which certain so-called free market capitalists forget. It’s any number of major companies that have decided that vaccination is a condition of active employment.
Just to head off the stupid, nom-Sensical arguments about religious freedom, which no mainstream faith is making, United says that any employee objecting on religious grounds will be out on indefinite unpaid leave. so, you’re not fired. You just don’t get paid.
So ignore the cultist howls of the few and loud, they amount to a wet fart in a hurricane.
lincolnman
That's what this guy says, you know him?
I would recommend it," Mr Trump said during an interview on Fox News Primetime on Tuesday. "I would recommend it to a lot of people that don't want to get it and a lot of those people voted for me, frankly." He added: "It's a great vaccine***, *it's a safe vaccine and it's something that works.****
Trump is urging everyone, but specifically his supporters in MAGA-world, to take the vaccine - he assures you all that it is safe and effective...
But a majority of MAGA-world think the "Trump vaccine" is fake, that it contains "mind control chips", and will make you sterile...
So why is he recommending everyone take the vaccine? Maybe a Trump supporter here can explain this?
Ingvar
If the vaccines work, why would vaccinated people need to worry? What's the problem?
Bob Fosse
You consistently display a fundamental misunderstanding of basic concepts.
Blacklabel
So 70% of people had one shot on August 2nd.
The second shot is 2 weeks later. So you are telling me all these people had one shot but then didn’t bother to go back 3 weeks ago for the 2nd one?
you can’t answer why the media lied and said Biden met this false goal, as you are claiming he didnt.
anyway, vaccinated % is up. Cases, deaths, hospitalizations higher than ever. Solution: vaccinate more people?
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Simples. We haven't reached herd immunity, vaccinations are up, yes, but still significantly lower than the levels experts agree need to be reached to provide herd immunity. But please, by all means, don't get vaccinated, because who cares about anyone else, right?
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
Yeah, one shot. Not fully vaccinated. You're trying to claim the shot is not effective, even though you know full and well that that 70% figure you quote is not fully vaccinated, and you should know that a single dose of the vaccine is not as effective as receiving both doses.
The fact is that the vaccine works. There's no credible dispute with this.
Blacklabel
Care to explain how cases, deaths and hospitalizations are higher than ever then? Even as more people get vaccinated.
Blacklabel
and the AP agreed, see their headline and article. 70% vaccination goal MET.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
lmao That is your claim, Black. You claimed that 70% of the population is vaccinated. That is demonstrably false.
Well that's your opinion, Black, but I trust Biden and actual infectious disease experts far, far more than the folks on the site who claim the vaccine doesn't work. They've been routinely been proven wrong.
Blacklabel
then why did that count to meet Biden’s goal? He had a goal to get people partially vaccinated? That’s a stupid goal then and he taking credit for it when it’s false.
“The U.S. on Monday finally reached President Joe Biden’s goal of getting at least one COVID-19 shot into 70% of American adults -- “
Blacklabel
Wyoming has a 7 day average of THREE Covid deaths.
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
That's at least one dose, not fully vaccinated.
At any rate, that doesn't change the fact that Red states have far, far lower vaccination rates. Incompetence on full display.
Blacklabel
“US hits 70% vaccination rate -- a month late, amid a surge”
https://apnews.com/article/joe-biden-health-coronavirus-pandemic-e33cc7e3eb782ceffdc9107a7cac25ab
takeda.shingen.1991@gmail.com
70% of the US population are not vaccinated. What are you talking about? Only Vermont comes even close, and they're only at 68%. Red states are much, much lower.
https://www.google.com/search?q=us+vaccination+rates&sxsrf=AOaemvL0Achohu_kHaex7HDSsnDTXTxclA%3A1631323015737&source=hp&ei=hwM8Yay1KsXBhwOS_59I&iflsig=ALs-wAMAAAAAYTwRl3mMD9sB0Cvq6BpKQeAD0KuV7wmq&oq=us+vaccination+rates&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBAgjECcyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQ6BQgAEJECOgsILhCABBDHARCvAToLCC4QgAQQxwEQowI6BQguEIAEOgUIABDLAVC7eViajAFgto0BaABwAHgBgAH4AogB5BeSAQgwLjE4LjEuMZgBAKABAQ&sclient=gws-wiz&ved=0ahUKEwjslPXm3_XyAhXF4GEKHZL_BwkQ4dUDCAc&uact=5
Yeah, because predominately Republican states are far, far behind in vaccinations. In Wyoming, for example, only 39% of people are fully vaccinated.
No no, this is the Republican game plan. It's going according to plan.
Blacklabel
So Biden starts with a vaccine in hand and now has a 70% vaccinated public.
yet more cases, deaths and hospitalizations than this time a year ago when there was no vaccine at all?!
incompetence on full display.
Wolfpack
That’s not leadership- that’s dictatorship.
Blacklabel
So there are triple the number of cases now with 70% vaccination rate than there was last year with 0% vaccination.
vaccinated people don’t get hospitalized or die! say Biden supporters.
Then why the hospitalization rate 2.5 times higher and death rate is double?
Yrral
Biden anger is misplaced, lots of unvaccinated people are taken more precautions than a lots of vaccinated people, they have the same risk as non vaccinated
Yrral
Biden anger is misplaced, lots of unvaccinated people are taken more precautions than a lots of vaccinated people, they have the same risk as non vaccinated
bass4funk
Not the public one, you’re right about that one.
Blacklabel
How is this possible when almost no one was vaccinated last year?
bass4funk
I did, but again, COVID IS not the only reason why more and more parents are opting for home schooling.
You’re close.
bass4funk
No, they don’t.
bass4funk
Not just covid.
Politics as well.
Desert Tortoise
Vaccines, wearing face masks and social distancing are not only to protect the individual who is taking these measures. It is to protect others. It is proven that someone may be infected and spreading Covid-19 virus while being asymptomatic. The individual is not sick and has no idea they are infected, but they can very much infect others. Vaccines greatly reduce this risk. Masks reduce the risk even more as does social distancing. One does these things out of a respect for their friends, neighbors and co-workers, and hopefully out of a sense of duty to the communities we all share. The longer it takes for everyone to do all the right things the longer this misery will last, and the more people will die or end up with life long lung damage. A little consideration for others will go a long way. Please stop arguing and take this emergency seriously. Everyone depends on everyone else to do the right thing. If it becomes each man or woman for themselves we're doomed. This is a time to pull together, not to squabble.
bass4funk
They don’t. If they had utter contempt, they would have stood by and let this administration dictate how all citizens should behave and force them to eat what they want and to take drugs THEY think are good for you.
But are being praised by millions for upholding the values of freedom and choice. That’s leadership, to listen and hear your constituents.
Well, as you pointed out, the leaders (real ones) are taking a stand for sure to tell the American people that they will fight for them.
Biden is not winning it either. See the lawsuits coming his way. A lot of them. But I’m glad he’s pushing this, it continues to help the GOP retake the House next year
So being born white is a bad and shameful thing? Why is that?
Wait, you’re confusing me, so Cubans, Haitians and Puerto Rican’s are White Nationalists?
ulysses
Ah I understand, you are confusing Russia with America.
They were during desegregation too, but then people came around. Though you were home schooled, which explains a lot.
That was exactly my point sir.
Sir, we are talking about America not Russia.Though I understand the confusion.
Sir, taking a vaccine shows your education or the lack of it!!
bass4funk
And a lot of people in school are taught to believe what the government tells you. No wonder Home schooling numbers are through the roof.
I disagree, quite the opposite
You would think, but not indoctrinating them
Not when it involves taking a vaccine.
PTownsend
Leadership usually includes those, but also often requires making decisions that might not always please some, including those comprising a minority that has shown contempt for their fellow citizens and that supports far right politicians like Trump, De Santis, Cruz, Tuberville, MTG etal wanting to further undermine US systems.
The US, just like so many other countries, has been dealing with a pandemic that has killed and/or sickened millions while also seriously harming the economy, the US needs leadership that is willing to make strong decisions that a minority of the population may oppose. The era of a president saying 'that's not my responsibility' like Biden's predecessor did is over. Trump threw in the towel and lost the war. Biden is trying to win it.
Unlike people in China the anti-vaxx minority are still free to move to another country. These far right anti-science religious extremists seem to prefer the leadership styles found in Russia, Belarus, Poland and Hungary and others run by authoritarian regimes. Plus in those countries the majority of people are white, just like them. They are free to go there instead of continuing to try to drag the US to low levels found in places like Florida and Texas, places long dragged down by far right extremists..
sf2k
Did those against this obvious measure get the vaccine making their comment meaningless or are they one of the uneducated?
Why have hospitals at all under such a mentality?'
So many right wing hate radio announcers are gone via COVID and comorbities in 2021, karma is working overtime
Numan
@ulysses
Though some may be illiterate, most are just willfully ignorant. There is a difference!
ulysses
Thank you dear sir for your views on education, everyone doesn’t have the luxury of being home schooled.
No sir, they don’t, that’s why they are ignorant.
Oh no sir, the government has a responsibility for educating people. You know there is something called compulsory education.
Bob Fosse
Leadership also means making decisions for those who can’t or won’t. The hint is in the word ‘leadership’. See if you can find it.
agondocz
Burning Bush,
President Biden has tried that and more. But when the other side refuses to come to the table, refuses to compromise, and substitutes appearances on Fox for dialogue. When the other side actively undermines what the President is trying to do....
The Republicans' greatest fear is that President Biden and his administration will succeed without any Republican assistance and will transform the United States into a country that actually embraces diversity, accepts equality, and eradicates discrimination.
Best wishes,
bass4funk
By more indoctrination
Most do, they just don’t want the government telling them what to do.
No, they just want the government to leave them alone
ulysses
Let us treat the unvaccinated the same way we treated the unintelligent.
These people haven’t had the benefit of education and the knowledge that comes with it.
The illiterate need your support!!!
