Trump is incapable of empathy, sees no problem with hypocrisy when it comes from his mouth, and does not care about the American people, only his own ego.
For the life of me, I can not understand how his supporters can justify throwing their support behind him. They have absolutely nothing in common with the man, which is typically how, until Trump, people identified with who they vote for in a presidential election.
Not to mention if anyone they knew acted or talked, or treated people like Trump does, they would punch them in the mouth! But Trump gets a pass!
plasticmonkey
That is pretty much it. The man is seriously deranged.

Trump's 'assurances' mean nothing. The most dishonest politician in US history.
Trump has shown he's the least compassionate of any modern US president. He knows the virus has hit Americans at the lower end of the economic spectrum hardest, especially Blacks, Hispanic and Natives, people he's shown zero regard for at any time in his life.
Trump's a president serving his own needs, his family's, and those of his fellow 'elite'. He cares nothing about the general population, i.e. Main Street. He only cares about Wall Street.

And all those people with co-morbidities were living with them until Covid came along. If anything the death toll is being under reported.
Yubaru
At least Biden would let the professionals do their job and not act like he KNOWS everything better than the doctors and nursing ACTUALLY dealing with it!
How ignorant and stupid are Trump's supporters to think he is doing anything, other than talk?
Not one democrat, nor Biden himself has made any claims nor inferences than you do in your bombastic comment here.
Jimizo
Trump’s approval on Covid was actually good at one point.
Tactically, you could argue playing the victim card ( China virus etc. ) is his only defence but it isn’t going down well now. Marry that with mindless crap on this issue like the disinfectant episode, and it can’t be any surprise he sunk so far.
Spineless and incompetent is a tragic combination for leaders during Covid.
Elections have consequences.
Bob Fosse
Sounds like a real font of wisdom. Did he give you life advice about all the other ‘groups’ too?
My old man told me judge people on what they do not on what hat they wear.

And we don't know how many other deaths caused by Cironavirus were not recorded.
The best way is to determine how many deaths there have been this year compared to how many there are in average to determine the so-called "excess deaths".
As at the beginning of September, there were 200,000 excess deaths in the USA compared to typical years. This is very close to the number of deaths recorded as being down to Cironavirus.
So in conclusion we probably do have a good estimate of the number of deaths from COVID-19.

Not mythical sorcery just a bit of competence, listening to the experts, and formulating a coherent plan. It helps that he doesn’t think the virus is a hoax and that he knows more than the doctors.
The US death toll, which is actually slightly less than the number of “excess deaths” compared to previous years showing the COVID deaths are probably understated, is highest in the world and on a per capita basis is one of the top ten in the world. Trump is doing better than nearly 200 other countries in that regard. It is what it is!

Donald Trump has been so successful with the virus, he's stepping into the Safety business....
First up, a Trump Smoke Detector - its the only one that remains silent when detecting smoke so you don't panic...
Next - a Trump Life Vest - it dissolves in water so as not to inhibit your freedom...
Buy yours at Trumpstore.com - like Trump's clothing line, proudly made in China....

But just so we are clear, you still refuse to wear a face mask? And you take your scientific cues from Donald Trump?

I believe what you’re referring to, and twisting to fit your narrative, is when Biden called Trump’s use of “China Virus” xenophobic. Can you provide a quote where Biden says he’s against the travel ban?
Also, one action which generally followed what several other countries also did at the same time, is not a coherent plan. It would have been a good start but there was no follow through except for Trump’s calling the virus a hoax, lying to the American people and, in general, a pathetic response.
Oh, you do realize that most experts say the virus entered the States from Europe. Trump limited travel from China but allowed travel from the hot spots on Europe.
You can go on and on about what would someone else have done, but the truth is that almost anything would have been better than what we got with Trump.
stormcrow
200,000 deaths and counting . . .
"I alone can fix it." . . . Pres. Trump
Oh, come on! Gag me with a spoon!
u_s__reamer
"A single death is a tragedy":
"Ruth Bader Ginsburg has just died."
Trump: "WOW!"
"200,000 deaths a statistic.":
Trump: "We've done a great job!" "We've saved millions of lives."
Trump's notorious inability to show empathy and compassion will ultimately convince those good folk who can see the true content of his character to pull the plug on him come November when the American death toll will have passed the tipping point and doomed his re-election bid.
u_s__reamer
Elections have consequences.
Yes, but when will they ever learn? You can't fix stupid.
Covid-19/20 is going to have consequences, too. The trail of death and destruction it leaves in its wake will likely change our lives in a way few can imagine. I believe we are all facing another year of living dangerously, but also that something good is bound to come from all this mayhem, like some greater awareness that will produce in humanity a renewed sense of humility and reverence for life and the natural environment. Too rosy a picture? Maybe, but, as they say, hope dies last.

@Black
See post above. Wearing a mask is not to protect yourself. It's to protect others.

Bob Fosse
Randy, where are you finding all these interesting stats? I can’t believe nobody has mentioned them before. What an eye opener.
Jimizo
What a very rational idea. Far too rational for the partisans here.
Maybe the socialists, anarchists and BLM killed the 200,000 off.
Jimizo
Please post links to medical research showing that the wearing of masks is ineffective in stopping the spread of Covid. You must have quite a range to choose from here if you regard this as a consensus view. The disingenuous types would cherry-pick outliers to support preconceived and often politically motivated ideas.
I know that’s not how you roll.
Links, please.
Yubaru
Shhh....this is the big "secret"! Trump would gladly have more and more people from the "lower" economic spectrum die from the virus, as they are not going to vote for him, so why should he care?
I am just surprised he hasn't openly said anything yet like this. "Why should I care? They wouldn't have voted for me anyway!"
Jimizo
I’ve read around on this and get a sense that masks helping limit the spread of Covid is a majority view. Erring on the side of caution is the decent thing to do. You are not being asked to make any great sacrifice here. It’s part of being a decent citizen.
Forget the political partisanship which has stupidly become part of wearing masks.
?
Jimizo
Not serious. That is basically an opinion piece from a tabloid. If that’s your idea of ‘extensive research’, there is nowhere to go from here.
plasticmonkey
@bass
I don't know where you've been for the past six months, but the overwhelming medical consensus on masks is that they don't protect you from the virus, but they greatly mitigate the spread of the virus to other people.
Now that you know that, not wearing a mask is simply a disregard for other people's lives. Which is why Trump doesn't wear one.
ArtistAtLarge
Not and never was true.
Ah_so
Undoubtedly some, but almost certainly they would be fewer than if there hadn't been a lockdown and the virus has spread unchecked through the entire country.
Fighting a pandemic is about choosing the least bad option. All options have some negative consequences.

There sure aren't many of them.
You may not believe that masks help prevent spreading the virus to other people, but why not err on the side of caution? Would you feel good about yourself if you found out you were wrong and your lack of action led to somebody's death?

Trump looks like a kinda dictator who wants to make same kinda speech about death toll. He is like Berarussian, Brazilian president. No much difference.

As the niece (clinical psychologist) of the current occupant of the White House has stated, he is a delusional narcissist. The man will continue to claim progress and victory, when the opposite is the truth.
He is completely unfit to be President of the United States of America (POTUS) and the end result has been seen since 2017. It will take decades, if ever, to repair the damage done by the incompetent way his administration has conducted its internal and external policies.

The real number is well over 200,000 that's because people died in the US before they knew what it was.
Bob Fosse
Isn’t that the same argument you used yesterday to justify police homicide?
Bob Fosse
But Biden...yeah nice try. Here’s an interesting quote.
I thought that was supposed to be trumps big selling point; a straight talker telling it like it is, walking the walk etc.

It’s an old argument, and used by both sides, but I think for many people, it’s a matter of liking the other candidate less.

Yeah. And I have no regrets for my (deleted) ricin comments either, and here is why. Why is Trump given his voice here and I am not? Is Trump even a member?

Don't lose hope. I am sure a cure will come someday. In the meantime, hang in there!

According to the CDC, 97% of the American Corona deaths had 2 more more co-morbidities. So, what actually killed them in the end is impossible to say. So pure Corona deaths are about 6000, not 200,000. Similar accounting in most countries, I would expect.

They won't. My old man told me, liberals never stop brooding when they can't get their way even since way back in the 50's. So I know they won't stop, it's not in their nature.

So was this a lie?
“While masks may block some droplets, Fauci said, they do not provide the level of protection people think they do. Wearing a mask may also have unintended consequences: People who wear masks tend to touch their face more often to adjust them, which can spread germs from their hands.”
Randy Johnson
@artistatlarge
CDC Director Robert Redfield disagrees with you.
Randy Johnson
In a nutshell, Dr Birx shows that not all 'covid deaths' are actually c19 deaths.
Therefore, the actual, real covid deaths will in fact not be known for a long time.
The so-called 'covid deaths' that the so-called media intentionally displayed are speculative at best.
"Dr. Deborah Birx, the response coordinator for the White House coronavirus task force, said the federal government is continuing to count the suspected COVID-19 deaths, despite other nations doing the opposite.
"There are other countries that if you had a pre-existing condition, and let's say the virus caused you to go to the ICU [intensive care unit] and then have a heart or kidney problem," she said during a Tuesday news briefing at the White House. "Some countries are recording that as a heart issue or a kidney issue and not a COVID-19 death.
"The intent is ... if someone dies with COVID-19 we are counting that," she added."
Randy Johnson
This is directly from the cdc. It is extremely long and detailed.
This site shows the difference of dying with c19 plus 2.6 additional health problems on avg. versus dying because of c19 only.
Stark differences.
Comorbidities
Table 3 shows the types of health conditions and contributing causes mentioned in conjunction with deaths involving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). For 6% of the deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 2.6 additional conditions or causes per death. The number of deaths with each condition or cause is shown for all deaths and by age groups. For data on comorbidities,
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm#Comorbidities
Randy Johnson
Following is a quote from CDC Director Robert Redfield.
So I think, probably it is less operable in the cause of death, although I won’t say there are not some cases. I do think though [that] when it comes to hospital reimbursement issues or individuals that get discharged, there could be some play in that for sure.
bass4funk
I have read extensively on the issue as well and if people want to wear the mask I support it, but I don't 90% of the time and that's my choice, and less about sacrifice.
bass4funk
Yeah and they got so much of the science wrong as well.
I don't, you guys make it political, I'm just saying, I have a different outlook based on opposing medical research I've read. Again, do what you like and I will do the same. Easily solved.
Zaphod
Another biased headline. The implication by the journalists is that Trump had some magic wand to wave that made the virus disappear. Of course he did not. No politician had.
And US total is vastly misleading. Most deaths are in a few states, if you take them out, the US average very low. Just like Europe, the deaths vary widely between regions.
bass4funk
When you silence often the opposition, it would seem so.
I’m usually not around elderly people, so I don’t worry about it, but if I am, then I will.
bass4funk
Ok, that's your opinion, I trust the medical experts that cry foul on this hoax. You can wear a mask, I won't.
Serrano
The real number is well over 200,000 that's because people died in the US before they knew what it was.
Or - get ready - a lot of "COVID" deaths are elderly or people with underlying conditions who were going to die very soon anyway with COVID slipping in at the last minute.
It is what it is.
Nov. 3
Yep! Vote in person unless you're disabled or out of the country.
Wolfpack
This headline reminds me of the headline on the front page of the NY Times the day after Pearl Harbor. The NY Times printed something to the effect that FDR could care less that the Pacific Fleet was wiped out in a few hours due to his utter incompetence. And who can forget the headlines of JFK’s Bay of Pigs fiasco. I’m paraphrasing but the headlines were JFK Kills thousands of Cuban Freedom Fighters.
Journalism hasn’t changed a bit in all of these years.
Randy Johnson
Dying with c19 vs. dying because of c19 are two completely different things. But some with a certain political bent intentionally muddle the two.
Randy Johnson
And let's remember that hospitals get more money for reporting a covid death whether it's an actual covid death or not.
Randy Johnson
Nearly 6,000 cases of 'covid deaths' of people who died of unfortunate accidents, poisonings, etc.
They died because of severe injuries. They just happened to be infected with c19 at the time.
Key words: because of vs with
Result. CDC counts the above cases as covid deaths.
bass4funk
Funny, now some of the experts are saying that a mask can protect you from the virus, other say it doesn't so which expert is right? Personally, I don't care, if people want to wear a mask, they should and those that don't, don't need to. Where I live a lot of people are not wearing masks and especially my favorite coffee shop people aren't. People are waking up to another overrated and overblown hoax.
Randy Johnson
The motorcyclist accident in Florida died because of serious injuries. He also died with covid.
The injuries were the cause. He just happened to be carrying c19.
Huge difference.
Result= covid death.
Same goes for so many other 'covid deaths'
bass4funk
Trump did that, he closed the country down, but Biden said it was racist, but now he says, he would do it if the experts told him, so good on Trump for doing and following his instincts because Dr. Fauci (the expert) agreed with Trump's lockdown, but it's racist when Trump locks down the country, but it's saving lives, being compassionate and not racist when Biden does it? Are you guys for real? So bypassing all the liberal mindless rant, what could have Biden done better and remember, according to Democrats, everyone that has died, died because of the Corona and nothing else. Give me a break!
bass4funk
I sincerely hope liberals understand this and stop having childish temper tantrums.
bass4funk
Not even remotely close! Democrats think that voters are stupid, if they elect Biden, what could he have done differently? He magically had more pull, more sway over the virus? He had the power to tell that nasty virus to pack up and leave? He could have prevented more people from dying (even if they had pre-existing medical conditions? What kind of mythical sorcery skills does Biden posses that could help save lives?
bob
the same people moaning over Trumps performance are the same ones who predicted 2 million dead, called him a racist when he shut down the borders with China, then moaned saying he didn't do it fast enough. The same ones who lost their heads when he said he'd get hospital ships into NYC within days, which he did. And are the same moaners who ventilators!! and got so many they were giving them away.
Anyone else see pattern here?
