They see what they wish to see. There wasn’t such a thing like surgery at those very ancient times. That’s only due of war, crime, torture, theft penalty and all such.

The article describes how it was clearly a cut, not an accident or injury, and there are signs of healing and years of regrowth.

The whole point of the discovery is that we now know that there was surgery. They can tell that the foot was surgically removed. The reason why is a different matter.
Ah_so
Because to do it well you'd want something surgically sharp and to prevent infection. And also we haven't come across evidence of "the ancients" doing this at any point prior to 7000 years ago, following the development of agriculture.
There patient died at 20, so let's not get to carried away by what the people of 30,000 could teach us.
