Powerful stuff. New Zealand showing the way forward.

Good on Arden, she means what she says. Such vile propaganda doesn't need any more exposure than it already has.

I see Arden’s point, but I’m not sure this is the best way to deal with it. I agree that the video of this filth shouldn’t be there for everyone to see as it doesn’t give any insights, but I’d like to know what makes people like Tarrant think. This could give some useful insights.

Maybe it’s better to know what we are dealing with.

Perhaps I was not clear in my first post. The article has gone ahead and named the perpetrator anyway, so her vow of silence is meaningless now here. I meant the coming together of the communities is powerful stuff.

I think it's obvious what we're dealing with. Does he really need more platforms for his hateful agenda?

What are we dealing with? I’ve heard all kinds of explanations for people committing massacres. To give just two examples, some say it’s psychopathy and the ideological motive is incidental. Others say the ideology is central.

Which side people take often depends on how sympathetic or repulsed they are to the ideology in question.

"... she hopes artificial intelligence will one day stop such attacks from being broadcast online."

What she really means is that she hopes the internet to be completely controlled by a particular ideology, suppressing any content that strays from the approved content, a truly Orwellian wish. This is a leap toward a totalitarian society, how very.... Liberal!

Liberalism on steroids worlds gone crazy, oh sorry am I a hater? So be it as it’s a human emotion what’s next love, kindness, fear. I get it but you need to go to the root cause and hate is not it, education, upbringing, “entertainment” the list sadly goes on....rant over

while she hopes artificial intelligence will one day stop such attacks from being broadcast online.

Worthy goal to want people to be nicer to one another but it is more than a little inappropriate to resort to Orwellian tactics to achieve such a goal. Freedom of speech is a critically important aspect of a free society. It is very unhealthy in a democracy for the ruling elites to go around deciding what speech is allowed. Look at the turmoil in Hong Kong and Iran for the logical blowback that you can expect from such policies. For the government to promote the use of artificial intelligence to inhibit freedom of expression is an authoritarian impulse that should be avoided.
