Australian immigration policy in microcosm?

Apple should be boycotted.

Their marketing strategy remains however amazing, getting fools to queue up to buy massively overpriced fashion accessories masquerading as a useful technology neither understood nor needed by the masses...Suckers!

Back in the day Apple and AMIGA computers were mostly is d for graphics, they were great on those till other PC's and Software caught up.

Now most graphics software's(CAD, etc) run on Windows, Linux, etc.

Apple market used to be small due their specialising which justified the Hardware Cost.

I've been a windows user and a UNIX user and an Apple user. Apple is the best hands down for myself, and for my staff. Very useful technology.

What a disgrace. Not surprised that it's Melbourne either - they're a very unpleasant folk

Moderator: You can't say "they're a very unpleasant folk," as if every person in Melbourne is unpleasant. That is offensive. Please repost.

I would be worried about any group that looks suspicious. No need to stereotype. Just saying.

“We want every person who joins our team, every customer visiting our stores or calling for support to feel welcome.

What's Cook going to do about this incident? Reprimand, re-educate, fire him? That's what I'd like to know.

Meanwhile, the whites in the store at the time we're Making off with half the merchandise.

The bigger issue here is how rife racism is around the world. A lot (maybe most) of the incidents with passengers screaming racial abuse at another passenger on a bus happen in Australia. No excuse for the staff at the Apple store though. Shouldn't have happened... end of story.

@Madverts, really? You mad bro? Boycotted? Due to some security guard(s) and a few boneheaded retail store staff? Play the Apple is overpriced, only marketed to dumbness, and unnecessary card all you want...they seem to be doing just fine without smart people like you.

Nah they're doing fine thanks to a clever marketing strategy making the ultimate in telephone fashion accessories targeting idiot consumers that think they need it. Thanks for solidifying that position for me.

Surprised about the Apple fan downvoters, but back way in the fay Apple was the primary graphics platform. Talking many years ago before they became popular and affordable with the the iMac. Plus both their OS and the Mouse was bought from Xerox, Apple is all about marketing now.

One thing not reported here, but was reported in other accounts is that one of the guys later wrote on Facebook that they were satisfied with the response from Apple. "They apologised, so we're chilling, no need to take it further," he wrote. Nice words.

Apple could cure cancer tomorrow and Madverts reaction would be "Supid Apple with their silly stuff doing silly stuff for silly people and I don't like advertising something or other, and sheep and it sucks"

I remain, as always, utterly amazed at the viciousness of tech nerds...

They are great marketers, no doubt. But they also make a quality product, and have a good ecosystem, and have a good support system, which is why I use their products. The phones are quality, and when something does go wrong, they just give you a new one right then and there. Considering my hourly rates, any time I have to spend working on something like getting my phone fixed costs me a significant amount of money. When I can go into the Apple store and walk out with a new phone in half an hour, that's well worth the extra cost of the phone in the first place.

Then when considering how the phones fit into the ecosystem - MacBooks, the icloud (although I don't actually use it), ipads, apple watch, it adds even more value. Being able to answer calls to my phone through my computer is an excellent feature I use regularly. If I were on Android, I couldn't do that. Being able to receive/send messages from any of my devices is also great - I can start a conversation at the office, continue it on the train, and pick it up when I get home, and the person on the other end doesn't even know I've changed devices.

If Apple were only marketing, they wouldn't be the biggest company in the world. Marketing only goes so far - without quality products to back it up, they wouldn't be at the top. They may still do well, but not at the top - especially when you consider their products cost more than others.

Hmm, being ejected from a store with no really good reason. Hopefully the company will get this resolved in that region. Personally I'm not a big Apple fan. Some folks use them some folks don't. Most budget and necessity minded people don't use Apple. Some things while kind of unique for Apple products aren't really all that necessary to many folks enough to warrant a purchase.

Very true, and a balanced comment. So many people think that because it's not for them, it's not for anyone.

Doesn't sound like the employee likes those kids very much.

@It"S MENOV. 12, 2015 - 08:35PM JST Guys would be stupid wearing their school uniforms. I know many countries don't have them but they clearly identify them and a Dress code.

As for the girls many to roll them up outside school into mini's, within the school dress-code and skirt length are strictly enforced.

Seen many girls enter a public toilet with uniforms and they looked very different coming out,(loose socks, etc).

I am sure that people of African descent aren't more likely than whites to shoplift. It's like saying women are more likely to steal than men, and young people are more likely to steal than older people. In fact, the opposite is probably true. Shopkeepers would be better served if they focused on a patrons behavior rather than on a persons race, age or gender. Sadly some retailers will inevitably continue to train salespeople or security people to profile customers of color. If you are racially profiled while shopping, you can deal with it immediately. Go see the manager. If the manager's the one doing the profiling, ask to see the manager's superior and on and on. Detail the incident in a letter to company higher-ups. Don't make a purchase to prove that you're an honest person who can afford to shop at the establishment. Instead, make it a point not to patronize the store again, Tell friends about what happened to you and blog about it to let the whole world know.

Is it true that Korea and China have demanded the Japan apologize for this incident?

In Australia I would think they are probably of Australian descent.

African Australians are Australians of African descent. The Australian Bureau of Statistics classifies all residents into cultural and ethnic groups according to geographical origin.

I'm sure many people here have worked in retail... and racial profiling unfortunately does happen... but in my experience it was a waste of time. Much more important was attitude and manner, and class would come into it as well. Threw a lot of people out after trespassing them and of all the people we trespassed, race could not be used as an indicator of who was more likely to steal.
