I find it unbelievable that AP could generate a story like this and never mention the actual name of the place, Metzada, or alternatively, Masada.

You can see why Israel's enemies in the region reject science. Its fruits, like carbon-14 testing, verify certain archeological finds which provide inconvenient but irrefutable corroboration of Jewish history.

The hill is natural at Masada, I believe. The article mentions a mighty man-made mound.
