The Arctic has gone through countless natural warming and cooling phases throughout the ages, and life goes on.

Sigh...where to begin....The Ostrich Effect is strong in some. If only we could ignore it all away.

Are all doubters of the seriousness of global warming flat earth believers?

I admire your stance, I really do. But the debate has gone far beyond that; Human's are causing climate change, this is now fact. A mass of scientific research points towards a global catastrophe caused by human activities. To deny this is the same as claiming that the earth is flat, or that evolution is just at theory, or that the world was created by God.

But I agree with what you didn't say but what you perhaps think, that the denial of the causes of climate change is possibly a political choice

Only in America is this a bi-partisan issue.

Neither man, nor his taxes will ever stabilize the climate.

I'm not sure anyone is attempting to "stabilize" the climate. Is it not more a question of whether human activity affects the climate?

Climate changes and has often done so in very dramatic ways without assistance from humanity.

True, but not really relevant. The issue is whether human activity has an effect too, and whether that effect is of concern. (i.e. should we change our behavior?) Al Gore's views are probably as relevant as Donald Trump's.

In other news; the earth is flat, it's only 6 thousand years old and the theory of evolution is a lie.

The other side of the coin. Mocking ignorant views is fair enough, but it goes both ways. Is any questioning of science open to mockery? Are all doubters of the seriousness of global warming flat earth believers? This debate sometimes sounds like young earthers versus gaia worshippers.

I guess depends on what you mean by "global catastrophe", but that kind of language seems to fit the topic of the article below. (who can tell the scariest story)

Whether or not climate change is affected by human impact, this debate doesn't explain the demise of the polar bear.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Polar bears are not going extinct. In the late 1960's the population of bears was down to about 12,000. Today there are upwards of 30,000.

https://polarbearscience.com/2017/02/23/global-polar-bear-population-larger-than-previous-thought-almost-30000/

Polar bears survived the Medevil Warm period when Greenland was ice free. As long as man doesn't hunt them until they are all gone, the polar bears will survive with out much of the ice that exists today. They were able do adapt in the past and then can do so again.

Don't lose your mind about a changing climate. Adapt and move on. It is literally not the end of the world.
