“By the end, with kind of snorting and the water gulping and leaning on the lectern that he just seemed really out of gas.”

The obvious health problems of a man over 70 and long overweight were on display for all but Trump's truest believing, pied-pipered and blinkered minions to see.

Mike Pence is Trump's VP. Pence having to take Trump's place if his health continues to worsen worries me as much as Trump actually holding office.

Reagan was younger than Trump when he took office. Reagan's dementia put the country and the world at risk. Trump's health - physical, mental and emotional - should be greatly concerning to all.

20 ( +25 / -5 )

Now theres a balanced assessment. haha. Why no mention from you of hillarys health problems - which, btw, are causing a lot more people a lot more concern than trumps ever have??

One thing that was really interesting about Hillary's approach to debating was the use of sentences. Trump bragged about not having paid any federal taxes, and then complained about how the Government had failed to fund improvements for our airports. The guy wants everything for nothing. He is Donald Deadbeat.

Notice how he used the example of great new airports in places like China and the Gulf States; which all are run by one party systems who have total control of all the wealth of the nations.

Trump talks more irrational gibberish than even Sarah Palin has done.

29 ( +34 / -5 )

This guy got stepped on like he should in the "debate". No good policies, no good plans, brags about paying no taxes, profiteering and generally making a fool of himself. Not to speak of his disgusting personal attacks. Anyone considering voting for this lowlife should take a long hard look at themselves.

Clinton's debate victory might not matter quite as much as you might think. The debates don’t have a huge effect on the polls. The shift of only few points at most and make the race a true dead heat?

Sometimes it's the seemingly smaller things that end up being more important. Trump's attack on Rosie O'Donnell was an aside but a telling one: An inane attack brought up completely voluntarily by Trump, wasting precious time and alienating crucial demographics; it was so stupid, one called it evidence of a “toxic, unreliable mind.”

The reason I think this was particularly stupid is that it might well alienate young people, a group Trump is not doing so badly with. Those college age and under tend to be less attached to any party and more susceptible to peer opinion. Not only was what Trump said not cool, it has alienated a wide swath of entertainers. Be sure that, between now and November, Hollywood will be very vocal about their disdain of Trump. And then voting for him becomes not cool. While it may once have been cool to vote for this bull in the china shop over Grandma Clinton, it's not cool to vote for a racist misogynist - and the "friends don't let friends vote Trump" movement could take off.

And remember, this is the younger generation. Once they've voted Dem, the may stay so.

I had to laugh at the editors note to that article:

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

(note that there are links in the original quote to support the claims)

The editor may have a bit of bias! I seriously can't remember any candidate ever being this polarizing to the point of having editors notes like that in articles, and ex-presidents voting for the other party.

If Trump wins, he's going to break the country. Which is of course what his Strumpets want, but they don't realize the impact that's going to have.

Clinton's debate victory might not matter quite as much as you might think.

Trump "lost" in the same way he finally destroyed himself after every primary debate. And after each debate everybody was shocked to learn that Trump had not done that. That he was continuing to build his momentum, he was continuing to attract new voters, in defiance of everything the insiders considered to be common sense. If you scored this like a college debate, Hillary won. But that's not how this works. People are looking at the person. All you have to do is look to the rally today in Florida. Maybe 12,000 in the arena, another 12,000 outside and over 25,000 watching live streaming coverage. And their enthusiasm is electric.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/sep/27/presidential-debate-focus-group-frank-luntz-hillary-clinton-winner?CMP=fb_gu

It is clear from all of the major media ABC, NBC, PBS! (Which the Koch brothers bought), and even Stormfront (white KKK group) that Clinton won. BUT don't worry right-wingers, this won't change your minds whatsoever because...because of those EMAILS!

10 ( +13 / -3 )

One revealing feature of watching the debate online was seeing Twitter comments as it unfolded. Frank Luntz, a longtime Republican pollster, said 17 of the 20 people in his debate focus group said Clinton won. Bernie Sanders tweeted, “I don't often agree with @MittRomney but he's right: Trump is a ‘fraud’ and a ‘phony.’” Others said the choice facing voters was “first female president or first white nationalist.” Others suggested that Trump just set a record for the most self-congratulatory statements in a presidential debate.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Lizz, very true!

-15 ( +4 / -19 )

Apparently, Public Policy Polling says Clinton won their instant poll by 51-40 percent—and won young voters by 63-24 percent. And that was their instant poll, before the spin, which has been heavily negative against Trump - sets in. The young voter result spread is unprecedented. We'll see if whether it actually results in changed voting behavior.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Some of his responses seemed little more than free-associative non-sequiturs. “I have a son who’s 10, he’s so good with computers,” said Trump when asked about US cybersecurity weaknesses.

Trumps reply to question about the importance of cybersecurity to the USA. I guess he missed this subject when he was preparing for the debate, check that he did not do any preparation. The man hates reading. He just winged it as he has done for the last year. Well for the primaries when he was surrounded by idiots, it did not matter. Clinton is smarter than him by far and that was the key difference last night. She showed voters how flawed and frankly mentally challenged Trump is. He is a con man, show man and that is all. That is what the world learned last night. That is why this election is over. People want change but they do not want a loser like Trump in the WH. All he would do in the WH is change things for the worse, and most dramatically for the deluded middle class voters who will vote for him.

whats the problem with the miss universe stuff? winning that title means a year of PR and various activities as Miss U. gaining 50 pounds and waddling around as the reigning Miss Universe is ludicrous and unprofessional in the extreme. If you want to pork out on tortillas, black beans and loisiana sausage DONT enter Miss Universe.

-18 ( +5 / -23 )

The day after his first general election debate, Trump blamed the moderator, a bad microphone and anyone but himself for his performance. Next time, he threatened, he might get more personal and make a bigger political issue of former President Bill Clinton’s marital infidelities

What a Winner!

Trump "lost" in the same way he finally destroyed himself after every primary debate. And after each debate everybody was shocked to learn that Trump had not done that.

Oh, I don't think many will be shocked this time. I'm pretty sure the huge majority expected that nothing Trump could say, or not, would change his supporters' minds.

whats the problem with the miss universe stuff? winning that title means a year of PR and various activities as Miss U. gaining 50 pounds and waddling around as the reigning Miss Universe is ludicrous and unprofessional in the extreme.

Of course Ms. Universe gaining 50 pounds as the reigning Ms. Universe would be a problem (I'm not clear on the details, so I say 'would'). But the problem with Trump was in how he dealt with it. Calling her Miss Piggy, and Miss Housekeeping just shows his attitude towards women.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Outrider, you apparently have never met an 18-year old woman, particularly the busty type favored by these pageants. They balloon at that age, even subsisting on water and saltines. (My daughter was the same.) It is genetic, the female body preparing for motherhood, and not much can be done to prevent it.

In addition to the myth of the "perfect" female body that these pageants exploit were Trump's sexist and racist remarks,; encouragement to stay in shape is one thing, body shaming is another; and conflating her accent with "the help" was simply racist. If he feels this way about women, he should restrict his pageants to Eastern European women as he has done his wives.

Trump easily destroyed her. She made personal claims that she knows nothing about. It was good that he didn`t stoop to her witchy level. Vast majority of polls show it, peoples opinion is the mist important not news pundits. We already k now that 95% of the news is pro Clinton.

Yes, I know, some of you are so tired of the "emails" angle. Why, it barely came up during the first debate so it can't be important. Right? Anyway, the emails on her private server were inconsequential and so their deletion was no loss. Right? She would have the electorate take her word for it. And why not? She's proven her word can be trusted again and again. Right? So, let's not bore her by asking again. Ask her aides about the server setup and deleted emails. But, haven't they pleaded the Fifth Amendment? You're absolutely right, but shouldn't everyone be scoring it like a college debate, if not stricter? This is the presidency. Those massive crowds in Florida only proves that most Trump supporters don't care about facts. I think that's pretty deplorable.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

But the goal is to expose just enough of that 46% so that they switch to Clinton. I know most will vote for Trump even if Clinton drops his pants to his ankles in the next 2 debates, but there will be some, and who knows how big it is, who will finally decide that backing Trump is just too humiliating to continue.

But naturally there will always be the left-behinds, the conspiracy theorists, the racists, etc, who will vote for Trump no matter what. Demographics will eventually phase them out.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

pointofview, no kidding! CNNs ost debate coverage was laughably biased towards hillary - to the point of juxtaposing unflattering pics of trump with "nice" pics of hillary. it was so bad it was funny.

"A defensive Donald Trump"

Maybe the next moderator will ask Hillary some questions about her many scandals and bad decisions.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

The debate was more tame than I expected. I was waiting to hear "Hillary Rotten Clinton", but was disappointed.

But it was all a sham, neither said anything remotely related to the truth. Just more pandering to the middle class, promises to tax and spend more, etc etc. That the middle class will suffer more regardless of who wins is something it probably doesn't understand.

Trump did hit a good note, the US has indeed indebted itself by $20 trillion since 2008, and the money seems to have vanished. It was not spent on infrastructure, or defense, or any of the usual places. The government did hire a great deal of workers, but not enough to justify the expense. And with no real benefit for the money squandered, I don't see how Hillary's spending even more will amount to any improvement. The more they spend, the less we receive.

Much the same happened after Katrina. Enough money was spent in aid to buy every affected person a new home and a new car to boot. But the victims ended up with pretty much nothing. Amazing, isn't it?

0 ( +5 / -5 )

misunderstood,

I can guess you are a trump voter by your comments. You easily fall in the basket example HRC gave a while back. But I am sure you are proud of that. Good for you!

Bill Murphy, the email scandal is like so many other fake investigations that the republicans have used to target HRC. Millions spent on Whitewater, Benghazi, emails and nothing has ever come out of it. She is always found innocent. The email issue, if you do homework on it, is much ado about nothing. Chris Christie among so many others did exactly the same thing. If you are interested in real examples of corruption look at Trump University or his fake Foundation which he does not contribute to at all. Or his many, many bankruptcys. There you will find real criminal activity.

I never thought I would say something like this, but

I enjoyed the debate. Or rather, I enjoyed getting to see Trumph self-implode and Clinton's ambush. "What!, Where did you get that?" He asked about Clinton citing disparaging remarks he made to a Miss Universe. Clinton later published a video from the woman.

The guy was plainly set up and ambushed, but he even continued to fuel his failure the following day. He really does live in his own reality. He just can't stop running his mouth.

Only fake because you have a corrupt administration covering up their trails, which they are good at, gotta give them credit.

Trillions more spent by this administration, that doesn't bother you?

She is always found innocent. The email issue, if you do homework on it, is much ado about nothing.

FBI Docs: Hillary Deleted Nearly 1,000 Emails With David Petraeus

Now we find out that 1,000 emails between Clinton and General Petraeus were not turned over. This should be a bigger story. Petraeus started out as the leader of U.S. Central Command and then became the director of the CIA during Clinton's tenure as secretary of State, so not only were those emails obviously work related, they very likely were highly classified.

The FBI summary also revealed that top State Department officials were actually putting pressure on employees to hide the fact that they were finding classified information in Clinton's emails.

I am not sure how related this is, but why does it seem like often when I give a thumbs up, it does a double negative, or if I do a negative, it still does a double negative on a person`s comment? Is this a glitch?

About the debate, I thought it was a pretty good debate, but seemed like a warm up for both. I am definitely looking forward to things heating up at the next go.

I thought that the moderator seemed a little biased at some points. For example, he seemed to admonish the crowd when they cheered for Trump, but when they cheered for Hillary (several times) he allowed it. Also, he seemed to be pressing Trump on some points almost as if he was attacking him.

I think Trump failed to answer several questions as well, and seemed to miss the point. Hopefully he will practice staying on topic for the next round. Hillary had a good presence in the debate, but I do not like her robotic and smug disposition. I would like to see her seem more "real". I think this would improve her image of being fake and a liar.

It will also be interesting to see if Julian Assange and the wikileaks team does make good with their promise to drop some juicy bomb with regards to Clinton. If so, this could be some great ammo for Trump, assuming this does not lead to her prosectuion/having to drop out of the race. (BTW if she does withdrawal from the race, how does that work with voting?)

Amazing how if a democrat had EVER insulted a woman by calling her Ms. piggy or Ms. housekeeping, the right-wing would be OUTRAGED, why it would be "Piggygate" and there would be calls for him or her to resign. For Donald, it (insulting) is a hourly gig, and the right-wing gets off on it, seeing the insults as a sign of strength. Goes to show how crazy these right-wingers are, but with those in the south, this is a case of truly FINISHING the Civil War.

I think it was mostly strategic, he was coached (perhaps overly) to lay off the attacks and appear more personable and subdued. And what you and others see as Trump on defense, in a defensive posture, his supporters see Trump attacking. His supporters see Trump defending himself and standing up for them in ways the Republican Party hasn't in a very, very long time.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

His supporters see Trump defending himself and standing up for them in ways the Republican Party hasn't in a very, very long time.

Bull puckey. Trump wasn't standing up for anyone other than Trump. He was defending himself, not Joe the Plumber.

He lamented the poor state of America's infrastructure while smirking about the fact that he doesn't pay federal taxes, the very source of infrastructure funding.

He lamented the state of the American workforce and lost jobs while insisting spending half a million dollars isn't a lot of money to fuss about.

He lamented the state of minority communities while boasting that he never admitted guilt in a housing discrimination lawsuit that he, paradoxically, settled with a cash payout. (I'm still reeling from that one).

Trump most certainly does NOT represent Mainstream America by any definition. He's in this for himself in a shameless, brazen way that makes any of the assorted nefarious sins you like to accuse Hillary of look absolutely tame by comparison.

A trivial matter called due process.

I understand how much Donald J. Trump -- Clown Prince of Thugs -- and his thuggish supporters want to get rid of that. Trump was gaining on Clinton in the polls after his handlers got him to stick to a teleprompter and stop speaking off the cuff, but he fell right back into his old ways once the crutch of a teleprompter was taken away from him for the debate. The man is incapable of acting like a President. To have him in charge of the nation's military is a chilling prospect.

He be right about the U.S. is a serious debtor nation, something Clinton doesn't seem to grasp.

Gee, Serrano, you might want to check out the Clinton tax returns for the last decade or so to see how they've helped the federal balance sheet. Bloomberg notes that, in 2015, the Clintons paid a tax rate of 34.2 percent in and donated 9.8 percent of their adjusted gross income to charity - the tax rate was roughly twice that that Romney had paid in the year prior to his run. Clinton tax records are available back to 1977, according to the article, and show little variation in tax avoidance. Now, maybe they're just being tricky as they know their tax records will be scrutinized, or maybe they're putting their money where their mouth is. Trump? - Who knows! NO Trump supporter has ANY right to criticize the federal deficit until we know how much Trump has paid - or evaded. The "balance" of a balance sheet cannot be ignored (unless it's just "smart" or "business", according to Trumpians - those who pay taxes are suckers).

Trump isn't good enough for the job. Set aside his insane and inflammatory babbling in the past and just watch this debate. I actually thought he put up a decent show all things considered. His ineptitude became clearer as the debate went on but he was in above his head here. The GOP candidates' debates are not good preparation for this level and that's a handicap the GOP needs to look at. You just can't make the step up in class from a fart-lighting competition to an intelligent debate.

As I said, just not good enough but I'd give him some marks for effort.

Apparently, if enough people get together and wrap tinfoil around their heads, the combined focus of their brainwaves is amplified through the tinfoil like an antenna, focusing on everyone else wearing a tinfoil hat, and this combination disrupts any wires the candidates may be wearing.

I suggest you get your buddies together, and anyone else you can find, and make sure to do this so as to stop her from being able to use her wire at the next debate.

@Simon

Mm.... That was interesting.... ; )

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The word is getting round that those online polls were rigged by Trump supporters casting multiple votes.

Quote from the article:

But The Daily Dot suggested online results from about 70 debate polls were particularly egregious because Trump supporters “artificially manipulated” the results “to create the false narrative” that he won.

Trump supporters using Reddit and 4chan message boards bombarded the online polls and spread the effort to Twitter to catapult the hashtag “#Trumpwon” to the No. 1 trending topic.

As I claimed earlier today:

Look at his rallies. He hypes the people up with hyperbole, gets them riled with emotion and hatred. They embrace him as their savior. His strumpets and deplorables are all over the Internet, vigorously defending his bigotry, his misogyny, his lack of paying taxes, his willingness to go to war. To think that a significant number of them wouldn't be out there hitting every poll then can find is ignoring reality.

And as I said even earlier today:

As for the other polls you showed, we all know Trump's supporters are almost like cultists - look at his rallies, and look at their participation on the internet. Online polls are a reflection of those who actually vote in the online poll. Trump fanatics are much more likely to be rushing every online poll they can find.

And as I said yesterday:

The polls are online polls. As we all know on this site, the right-wingers are out in full force to support Trump. Online polls are hardly accurate.

And yet some are gullible enough to believe these polls had any accuracy whatsoever.

The far majority of polls taken after Monday night's presidential debate say Donald Trump came away victorious.

A Daily Mail story highlights many of the polls that appeared online following the showdown at Hofstra University. A CNN survey that found Democrat Hillary Clinton to be the winner is being widely circulated, but that conclusion seems to be in the minority.

Of the 21 polls (including CNN's) mentioned in the Daily Mail story, Trump won 17 of them, including:

Time: Trump 58 percent, Clinton 42 percent CBS New York: Trump 24K votes, 17,600 votes San Diego Tribune: Trump 66 percent, Clinton 34 percent Slate: Trump 54 percent, Clinton 46 percent Variety: Trump 51 percent, Clinton 48 percent Fortune: Trump 51 percent, Clinton 49 percent CNBC: Trump 51 percent, Clinton 49 percent The CNN poll found that 62 percent of those surveyed by the left-leaning network thought Clinton won. Trump garnered 27 percent.

those 51/49 % polls are probably fixed as this is the general vote fraud spread used by the hacked fake vote machines in the usa.

Wow, the Arizona Republic, a newspaper that has been endorsing Republican candidates for 120 years, has endorsed Hillary with the following comments:

Endorsement: Hillary Clinton is the only choice to move America ahead

“The challenges the United States faces domestically and internationally demand a steady hand, a cool head and the ability to think carefully before acting. Hillary Clinton understands this. Donald Trump does not,"

And:

When the president of the United States speaks, the world expects substance. Not a blistering tweet.

And:

What’s more, Arizona went down the hardline immigration road Trump travels. It led our state to SB 1070, the 2010 “show me your papers” law that earned Arizona international condemnation and did nothing to resolve real problems with undocumented immigration.

Arizona understands that we don’t need a repeat of that divisive, unproductive fiasco on the national level. A recent poll shows Arizonans oppose both more walls and the mass deportations Trump endorses.

We need a president who can broker solutions.

And:

Trump’s long history of objectifying women and his demeaning comments about women during the campaign are not just good-old-boy gaffes.

They are evidence of deep character flaws. They are part of a pattern.

Trump mocked a reporter’s physical handicap. Picked a fight with a Gold Star family. Insulted POWs. Suggested a Latino judge can’t be fair because of his heritage. Proposed banning Muslim immigration.

Each of those comments show a stunning lack of human decency, empathy and respect. Taken together they reveal a candidate who doesn’t grasp our national ideals. Link: http://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/editorial/2016/09/27/hillary-clinton-endorsement/91198668/

On top of that, the Cincinnati Enquirer, and the Huston Chronicle, both of which has endorsed Republican candidates for over 100 years, have also Endorsed Hillary over Trump:

CE: http://www.cincinnati.com/story/opinion/editorials/2016/09/23/enquirer-endorses-hillary-clinton-donald-trump/90728344/

HC: http://www.chron.com/opinion/recommendations/article/For-Hillary-Clinton-8650345.php

These are blistering. Three newspapers, all entirely partisan, endorsing Republican candidates for over 100 years, have not just dropped support for Trump, but have actively endorsed Hillary. Add this to Bush the first, and this is unprecedented beyond anything we've ever seen.

Kristol’s Twitter feed has an active following of hecklers and harassers, ready to pounce when his Kristol ball fails him. They usually don’t have to wait long. Kristol, for example, has been consistently wrong in predicting the trajectory of Donald Trump’s presidential bid. Although he’s certainly not alone in this, he has been wronger longer than just about anyone. According to New York magazine’s tally, he has predicted “peak Trump” — Trump’s crest as a candidate — 11 times since July, including most recently on Jan. 29. That was three days before Trump finished second in the Iowa caucuses and 11 days before his crushing victory in New Hampshire.

No. He just characterizes multi-million dollar loans from his father as "small" loans and uses tax law loopholes to avoid having to pay income taxes. He's not elite at all!

Regarding the anonymous online polls that are highly vulnerable to ballot-stuffing: Pfft! Meaningless because they are manipulated so easily. What I consider more telling is real people of note's comments: People like former Republican President George HW Bush endorsing Clinton over Trump, or former Virginia Senator John Warner (R) endorsing Clinton over Trump. These are not people hiding in some anonymous online poll. These are not some person from Paduka who couldn't tell you the difference between a Bill and a Resolution. More importantly, these are Republicans of note whose opinions are valued by the majority of Republicans who voted for them in the past.

Nice try, Zurcronium. First, you try to use the "bundling technique" to dismiss objections. I didn't mention "Whitewater" or "Benghazi". You did. Second, you say that "nothing has ever come out of it (i.e. Whitewater, Benghazi, emails: mine)". Let's rewrite that as no convictions were had - if they even warranted conviction. Third, you say she was "always found innocent". If you are referring to FBI Director James Comey's statement on the email issue, he did not use the word "innocent", but said simply that no charges would be recommended to the DOJ. However, he did say that the former SOS had been "extremely careless". "No charges brought" does not mean "innocent". Perhaps you meant she was found "innocent" in the court of public opinion. I'm sure if you were selecting jury members you'd look for sympathizers just as those who don't care for the former SOS would select their fellow partisans. Your claim that she was found innocent, then, is rubbish. "Extremely careless"? I disagree. I think the woman was extremely careful when it came to using unapproved methods of communication. But, she was caught. Then elements of her true character - shared by many granted - appeared from beneath her carefully tended make-up. First, she tried to drag Colin Powell into the fray. Yes, pointing the finger at someone else to divert attention is ... well, says something of character. More telling to me regarding character was her statement that she took "responsibility". Just how does one "take responsibility" yet take no action? This statement is truly the last refuge of a scoundrel. (By the way, if it makes you and other readers feel better, I don't intend to vote for Mr. Trump.)

Regarding the email server issue, Clinton wasn't "found innocent" because there never was a trial to determine innocence or guilt. What the FBI Director said was the level of compromise found on Clinton's email servers and in her handling of classified data would normally warrant termination from their position but not court action for the offending employee. Seeing as Clinton was no longer Secretary of State when this was determined, she had already been removed from the position.

If there's anything that terrible I'm sure I'll be hearing about it soon enough. The crises of the past few years are just minor hassles compared to the catastrophes we'd be facing if a disaster like that had ever been in Hillary Clinton's position or, even worse, Bush's or Obama's. You just don't have a very well-defined concept of what's actually interesting, do you? I mean, "news outlet or individual that doesn't like Hillary Clinton says bad stuff about her?" Not exactly confounding any expectations, is it?

Meh. Clinton isn't my ideal choice for President, but the Republicans left me and millions of others no choice when they selected a circus clown as their candidate. Like John Warner said, National Security for Dummies is not the way to learn the Presidency.

Had the Republicans chosen a candidate with even an iota of Foreign Relations sense, Clinton would be fighting an uphill battle right now but instead she's making Trump look like a fool without really trying hard.

She doesn't need to try. She just needs to let him open his mouth.

She doesn't need to try. She just needs to let him open his mouth.

She did that a few times in the debate. She just kept giving him more and more rope through her silence, and he wrapped it around his neck with his talking.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Fadamor,

And because of this thinking if she wins the Republicans will never win another election again. Once the Dems open the doors to tens of millions of immigrants and give a free ride to illegals they will forever vote Dem as a thank you. Very stupid reasoning.

In addition, she accomplished nothing as a senator and a SoS and helped nobody except her own organization. How is she qualified?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yeah, hilarious. Good thing you put the "lol" there, I would never have realised. Well, we've established Trump didn't hit Hillary Clinton, collapse, drop out of the race or drop dead. That's just about all the good things I can think of to say about his performance, really.

Which is extremely important because the test was, can Trump handle the stage and and handle Hillary, he proved that he can. So now hopefully in the second debate, he can slam her.

Oh, and he did well at the beginning and the end. Apparently. Well, it doesn't matter if a football team scores one goal at the start and another at the end if the other team scores ten goals in the middle, does it? Sorry, that football analogy isn't too hard for you to grasp, is it?

We're not talking about Football (soccer?) we are talking about appealing to the undecided and not to his supporters, Trump handled himself well, independents weren't worried so much about about what he was saying as much as can he be presidential, and he showed that he can.

Yeah, except for the part him bragging about not paying taxes, incessantly speaking out of turn, reiterating putdowns of "miss piggy" and Rosey O'Donnell, failing to address why he refuses to release his taxes. Yeah, that's a winner right there.

Can't to hear more about his illegal foray in Cuba. Mmmm

0 ( +0 / -0 )

can Trump handle the stage and and handle Hillary, he proved that he can

Well, he proved that he can manage to not run off stage. He didn't handle her very well. Did you see when he freaked out because she pulled up that Machado stuff? "Where did you get that, where did you get that?"

He was so shocked, he couldn't even deny it, or defend against it. And he reacted in panic and anger.

He's been a rich kid, then a CEO for so long, he's never been in situations where everyone isn't kissing his a$$. He has no idea how to handle people who aren't doing that.

The guy is ready to start a war over some Iranians on a boat flipping America the bird. And he wants the nuclear codes.

What's crazy is that while it can be understood that he is what he is, and a product of his upbringing, he's got so many people who are so irresponsible that they are willing to give a guy who gets into Twitter wars the nuclear codes. They are willing to sacrifice our entire planet for this 'giant douche' (to quote South Park).

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump needs to stop ridiculing and insulting people who went to support him at rallies. Talking about. Bill will baccfe. Some people might dislike Hillary. But there are people. who still think Bill was cute. Not every voters are square.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

the moderator was never going to ask Hillary about it.

But he did.

So when Rosie calls him names, he just has to shut up and listen to her lies and exaggerations, but he retaliates, its all of a sudden and issue? Ahhh, the liberal priority mindset. LMAO Funny, how all of a sudden, a washed up Hollywood loudmouth is in the spotlight and no one cared about until a few days ago. Rosie brought a lot of that heat on herself, being obnoxious as she is and frankly, putting two New Yorkers in the room with inflated egos, you're going to get this kind of petty nonesense, the only people that care about this tabloid junks are the Hillarybots, but keep peddling and keep wasting time on this, I personally find it all amusing. If that's the best the Dems can do, Trump is in real good standing for the next debate to shut that down.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

So when Rosie calls him names, he just has to shut up and listen to her lies and exaggerations, but he retaliates, its all of a sudden and issue?

Again, it's not the retaliation. Obama has called out some who have insulted him, but always in a classy manner. Trump is the exact opposite of class. It's what he says when 'retaliating', the content. It exposes severe character flaws. It shows that he cannot control his emotion. Do you really want someone who cannot control their emotion with the nuclear codes? Someone who freaks out and gets into twitter wars? Twitter wars hurt no one. Nuclear war hurts us all.

But not it doesn't matter what the message it or how it is delivered if the person delivering the message is perceived to being a habitual liar. Some people appreciate a strong direct bullish tone and stance, if people didn't think so, Trump would be nowhere near where he is today.

Trump is the exact opposite of class. It's what he says when 'retaliating', the content. It exposes severe character flaws.

Only to the people that can't stand him.

It shows that he cannot control his emotion. Do you really want someone who cannot control their emotion with the nuclear codes?

Well, Trump debunked that argument the other day, so pretty much, I'm good with him and the nuclear codes, Hillary on the other hand, hawkish, mean, I deeply believe and have a lot of fear we would be dragged into another war.

Someone who freaks out and gets into twitter wars? Twitter wars hurt no one. Nuclear war hurts us all.

True.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Some people appreciate a strong direct bullish tone and stance, if people didn't think so, Trump would be nowhere near where he is today.

If Trump wasn't born to a multimillionaire father who gave him 14 million to get started, he wouldn't be where he is today. His attitude would have definitely prevented him from rising up out of poverty to his point. But when you have 14 million, that's enough to pay for a lot of forgiveness of blustering.

Only to the people that can't stand him.

No, only to people that thing misogyny and bigotry are bad.

Trump debunked that argument the other day, so pretty much

You mean when he lost his temper on stage and showed that he can't control his emotions? I don't think 'debunking' means what you think it does.

Hillary on the other hand, hawkish, mean, I deeply believe and have a lot of fear we would be dragged into another war.

You think Hillary would start a war if some iranians on a boat flipped the bird to some Americans on a boat? I doubt it. Trump has admitted he would.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

They call him Hitler, a Klan member, racist and other horrible names, make disgusting twisted tabloid front pages, you name it. But when Trump gives it back its front page news. Lefties are incredibly hateful and rude and love their double standards.

@Strangerland,

Trump totally destroyed her at the debate.

I think Clinton said 14 mil the other day. In an interview last year he said his dad gave him 1 mil. Not sure how she knows more about his life than he does. You seem to have problem with family businesses. Youd be happier if he squandered it on booze and drugs? Out of the two of them it is only Clinton that has caused civil unrest and pushed for war in addition to looking for trouble with Russia. Id be much more worried about her

Come on, Strange! That's like saying, if ONLY Hillary would have chosen to remain on the farm, take up farming and never get into politics, things would be a lot different.

No, only to people that thing misogyny and bigotry are bad.

And the same goes for Hillary and her lies and cover ups, it goes both ways.

You mean when he lost his temper on stage and showed that he can't control his emotions? I don't think 'debunking' means what you think it does.

But he made it, the point is, he passed the ultimate test and there are two more debates, so it wasn't like he slapped her or became physical. He got loud, had to correct her record (can't blame him for that) and drive that point home, granted, anyone else would have been out, but for Trump, there are millions that thought he should have pushed harder.

You think Hillary would start a war if some iranians on a boat flipped the bird to some Americans on a boat? I doubt it. Trump has admitted he would.

I believe Hillary would go a step further. That's my personal belief.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

They call him Hitler, a Klan member, racist and other horrible names

To be accurate, we've compared similarities between him and Hitler, not called him Hitler. We've pointed out how he is supported by klan members, not said he was a member. And we've pointed out his bigoted statements that show him to be a bigot. As for horrible names, we've pointed out his misogyny, and his contempt for the average person.

I think Clinton said 14 mil the other day. In an interview last year he said his dad gave him 1 mil.

Yep:

Clinton is right on this one. The Wall Street Journal tracked down a 1985 casino-license disclosure that showed Trump’s father lent him $14 million — a value of $31 million in today's dollars.

Link: http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-presidential-debate-fact-check/2016/09/clinton-is-right-about-trumps-very-small-14-million-loan-228709

Not sure how she knows more about his life than he does.

Well, she knows what the actual truth is, which he isn't willing to admit. Not the same thing.

You seem to have problem with family businesses. Youd be happier if he squandered it on booze and drugs?

I have no problem with it at all. I'm trying to build up the same for my son right now. And no, I think he's a much better person for not squandering it on booze and drugs.

But, the claim was he wouldn't be where he is without his business acumen. I entirely disagree. His business acumen has definitely helped do what he could with the money he was given, but if he hadn't had that first boost of his father's money, he wouldn't be where he is. Without the business acumen, he could still be where he is at, simply by investing the money he was given, and collecting interest.

the point is, he passed the ultimate test

Well no, he didn't. The 'ultimate test' will be the election. And he didn't even pass the debate test - he blustered, went off track, told a significant number of falsehoods (if not downright lies), and showed that he doesn't have any policy. That would get you an F in debate class.

@Strangerland,

Why dont you let your son build a business from scratch then? Isnt that what you just said about Trump?

He did great. The assault he`s up against is unbelievable. Just go to Yahoo and see every headline trying to bring him down somehow but not a one on Clinton, there are plenty its well known. This is what happens when the establishment feels threatened. So dirty.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Why dont you let your son build a business from scratch then?

Because I'm a father, and I think any good father wants to provide for their children.

Isnt that what you just said about Trump?

No, that's not even remotely what I said.

He did great. The assault he`s up against is unbelievable.

He did poorly. And he is against no more assault than Hillary did, yet she maintained poise, presented policy, showed his weaknesses, and defended against incorrect accusations. Very presidential.

Just go to Yahoo and see every headline trying to bring him down somehow but not a one on Clinton, there are plenty its well known. This is what happens when the establishment feels threatened. So dirty.

After a decade of the right trying to smear Hillary, it seems that you want me to feel bad that Trump is under scrutiny. Sorry, but that just don't cut it.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

He did poorly. And he is against no more assault than Hillary did, yet she maintained poise, presented policy, showed his waeaknesses, and defended against incorrect accusations. Very presidential.

On the issues Hillary did beat him, but Trump didn't do horribly, in fact, he did very well for someone that's new to this. If he can destroy 17 professional politicians, then he can most definitely hold his own against Clinton and now that he sees what's at stake at the next debate, I'm sure he'll do better. After 35 years of Clinton's, it's time for the country to move on, no need for more corruption, Obama was more than enough headeches for the nation.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

he did very well for someone that's new to this.

Has the bar ever been set this low for someone who is trying to be president? When has 'being new to this' ever been an excuse for poor showing, when in a race for the presidency?

If he can destroy 17 professional politicians, then he can most definitely hold his own against Clinton

No, he showed he can't. And that's the difference between arguing with 17 people who are essentially on your team, and therefore believe in much of the same stuff you do, with slight variation, and debating against someone that doesn't agree whatsoever with the things you are pushing.

Which is exactly why they should have inter-party debates during the primaries. So people voting for their leader can get an idea of what they'll actually be like.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

On the issues Hillary did beat him

I respect that you could honestly assess this even though you are clearly for Trump now. However, I ask you to consider that the issues are all that matter. That is why I feel Hillary Clinto clearly won the debate. This is also why I feel strongly that Ms. Clinton will be elected president of the US in November.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Has the bar ever been set this low for someone who is trying to be president? When has 'being new to this' ever been an excuse for poor showing, when in a race for the presidency?

Most people don't watch the entire 90 min. Debate. The bar is set lower because you have a candidate that needs to prove that he CAN be presidential, most people don't really care about the loudness and comparing that to a president that was frustrating quiet and meek one that allowed himself to be pushed constantly, seeing Trump in is natural unapologetic form is refreshing to a lot of people.

No, he showed he can't. And that's the difference between arguing with 17 people who are essentially on your team, and therefore believe in much of the same stuff you do, with slight variation, and debating against someone that doesn't agree whatsoever with the things you are pushing.

Of course he did and without a doubt. Where are they now? He met his objective, his poll numbers moved up and his crowds keep getting bigger.

Which is exactly why they should have inter-party debates during the primaries. So people voting for their leader can get an idea of what they'll actually be like.

Thank God they don't, otherwise NO one would watch them anymore.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

seeing Trump in is natural unapologetic form is refreshing to a lot of people.

That is undoubtably true for a segment of the population. However, I would argue that being naturally apologetically ignorant of the issues is not a useful skill-set for a leader of a country.

Aren't one time office holders responsible for what they may have done while in office? I believe there was a long line of Illinois ex-governors who exchanged pin-stripes for prison stripes. Mrs. Clinton was not removed as SOS, but resigned in February, 2013 shortly after Mr. Obama's second inauguration.

Yes, but as I mentioned, that degree of infraction would normally just result in the person causing the infraction being removed from that position - something that was moot in Clinton's case because she had already resigned. Why are people demanding that Clinton be treated more harshly than what would be the norm? (That was a rhetorical question. I know EXACTLY why the Trumpsters want her treated differently than anyone else in the same situation.)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Clinton the political hack corrupt robot didn't cheer. She ducked out, snuck away and left that debate as soon as it ended. Trump is the one who stated after, did spot interviews and promoted himself.

Well that's the Trumpster way of looking at it. Another way would be to say that one candidate left having felt that her mission had been accomplished while the other felt the need to stay and perform damage control. By the way, Trump hasn't held a REAL press conference since July 27. He's had mock press conferences since then with Fox News where they specifically tossed him softball questions and stayed away from controversy, but he has specifically avoided everyone else. His handlers are adamant that "press conferences" not push any of Trump's buttons and send him on another rant.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Anyone that declares Clinton won that debate, couldn't decide until the talking heads told them what it was they heard...and how to think.

I'm sure you'd like to believe that, but many of us posted as soon as JT had an article up on the matter, well before any 'talking heads' had made their commentary to follow. Here is my comment https://www.japantoday.com/category/world/view/clinton-trump-debate-fiercely-over-taxes-race-terror#comment_2276816

You'll notice a lot of the Strumpets floundering in that thread though, unsure of what exactly to say, for the exact reasons you stated - they didn't have their talking points and spin yet.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Yeah, because there was nowhere else to comment before that. They closed the other thread about the debate about an hour before they posted the new one.

I was ready to post right when the debate finished.

To win debates just call the other person a racist, misogynist, xenophobe, bigot etc. Don`t talk about the facts.

To win debates just call the other person a racist, misogynist, xenophobe, bigot etc. Don`t talk about the facts.

When the debate is about someone's strength of character, particularly when they're going to be leading people of different races and sexes, pointing out the racist, misogynist, xenophobic and bigoted statements makes all the sense in the world.

It seems that the Strumpets just want to take the things that show him to be incompetent away from the discussion table. Which as a strategic move makes sense. But as a humanistic move is pretty deplorable.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump is amazing(ly clueless). His handlers announced he was going to make a nine-sentence statement regarding Clinton and instead of a quick soundbite-worthy statement, he went off on so many tangents the nine sentences took about 25 minutes to complete. With every tangent I bet his handlers were screaming in their heads, "JUST. READ. THE. #@&%*. SENTENCES!"

Even when he HAS the teleprompters he can't control himself. Yeah, this is a guy I want near The Button.
