Ridiculous that anyone prostrated themselves in front of another human or that anyone allows others to prostrate themselves in front of them.

Yep. If you're in Thailand it's better to avoid any political talk whatsoever.

Lovely ceremony. She looks like she’ll definitely be treated as an equal. Nothing subservient going on there, nope.

Thailand actually claims extraterritorial jurisdiction for crimes of lese majeste, so even if someone were to defame the King while in Japan, they could be brought to justice if/when they ever set foot in Thailand.
The lese majeste provision is in Section 112 of the Thai Criminal Code.
Might be good to know for anyone who's a regular visitor.

The first photo looks like the guys are playing twister on the floor.

In the words of Mel Brooks - ‘It’s good being the King’

For king lying on the floor? I wouldn’t do that for king thing at all.

In view of his dubious past it is unlikely that the erratic King Rama X will long reign over his people. As always, the real power behind the throne is the military and a showdown with the new king is surely looming.

Read this and then say he'll be a wonderful king...

Y'know, this entire scenario makes me sad. Many countries that have/had monarchies started ditching this kind of thing when they learned how to modernize and become a king/queen/emperor for the people. People should only do this because they "choose" to, not because they "have" to. Being born into the "right" family means ***t all because in the end, we all die the same and become food for worms.

Inside the box is a card that reads "Rise up and sit at my side, my beloved Queen."

Calm down, Chip, in the second photo she's sitting right next to him in the same position as he is.
It's tradition.
@tooheysnew That's "It's good to be the King."
