Boris will be nervously eyeing ditches.

Johnson is a disaster, at least as bad a Theresa May. Empty promise after empty promise. The government and the media keep blaming others, but I don't think the public are fooled.

Brexit is extremely complicated and difficult, but it is still being handled ineptly.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Still, an election appears inevitable well before the next scheduled one in 2022 if Britain is to move on from the stasis caused by a prime minister who vowed to deliver Brexit "do or die" and a Parliament that has repeatedly thwarted him.

Will "Boris Johnson dead in a ditch" be one of the ballot choices?

(Asking for 67.5 million friends.)

Bozo has put his foot in his big yap again.

The EU know that they have the upper hand, they're just running down the clock watching the uk self-destroy hence those 'endlextensions'.

They've (uk) lost already, even if they stay they're well down the EU pecking order. Now trying to figure out what the least bad option is and how to sell it to the ppl.

December election is on.

Boris wants a ransom. Something that won't happen. The EU needs the UK and the UK needs the EU. However, with France and Germany in the EU, it greatly diminishes any bargaining power the UK has. Furthermore, the fact that Ireland will remain in the EU and now the UK is in danger of losing Northern Ireland, this places the UK in a huge hole. Johnson has done a horrible job and has further divided the country and parliament.

This might become one of the rare times where the Queen steps in and removes a Prime Minister.

Relax, Brexiteers. You'll get your Brexit. Why the rush?

You do want to get it right, don't you?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

To all the EU doubters that said it was irrelevant, it clearly shows that being in a large united union has far more power than going it alone

1 ( +2 / -1 )

This is a decrepit and dysfunctional Parliament, time to put it out of it misery once and for all, a General elction is no guarantee but let the people decide, for better or for worse.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Zichi, politicly we must hold our public elected politicians, i.e. members of Parliament directly accountable for the laws they enact. Here is no other political course of action.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I predict the Uk will definitely be out of the EU by February 31st

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Zichi I will leave the olitics to your judgment.

Eastern European employees, Brighton, have frankly forsaken there true nationality, mistakenly, in my limited opinion.

Because of UK leaving the EU. They could have retained there nationality and claimed residence. This is what depresses me, these people make my business count yet they don't have a voice, Should they?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Put it to a second referendum. The majority voted out. We should get out but only partisans and people reading idiotic/fake news/conspiracy theory websites can say the message was clear from Brexiteers regarding what Brexit actually meant.

Brexit with a deal or Brexit without a deal.

Two choices for the electorate.

So much for a great Halloween.

EU delays Brexit to Jan 31

This is an indication of how the EU is going to decide a lot of things for Britain if it remains.

Ya'll better vote in the politicians who will get Brexit done in the upcoming general election or you're doomed.

This has become the world's longest running comedy of errors, ranking right up there with the Trump administration...

cant argue with that, karma does have a habit of punishing the foolish

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Well at least you are up front and straightforward, zichi, and with the life experiences I probably lack,

However Germany and the EU commission see the future as a federal Europe. A political scenario

that is anything other to UK ability to hold there politicians accountable

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Even those who voted Brexit can't agree on what kind of Brexit they want

0 ( +1 / -1 )

UK should be coming to grips with the fact that democracy isn’t a real tangible thing anymore

I have memories of an Andy Capp cartoon that said something like, "What's the point of democracy if the person you vote for doesn't get in?"

Although I'm not sure this is relevant to the Brexit mess.

Sorry zichi, I wanted to reply earlier, however I have been working long hours and I will admit to falling asleep in a chair.

What I am trying to emphasise is the damage, the prolonging of an election is having on my staff and business. When I refer to East Europeans, I am stating not only EU nationals, but also Russians etc etc.

My Business in the UK relies on a significant number of East European software developers.

My problem, their problem, is the UK leaving the EU has been so bent out of shape, they feel the only necessary course of action has been to apply for UK citizenship. The company supported there applications, I did not agree with this course of action. However it was there decision

Apples and oranges, Toasted. Texas and Hawaii are integral parts of the U.S., a sovereign nation not subjugated by a global entity. The global entity EU is basically a liberal empire, with its HQ in Brussels.

The lack of comprehension in that statement is simply astounding.

It is likely doomed.

Unlikely, it's not an empire it's a collection of sovereign states, which have varying political outlooks all across the spectrum. But you'd know this, being an avid follower of Brexit, surely?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Relax, Brexiteers. You'll get your Brexit. Why the rush?

exactly Id give it 99% for Brexit 1% stay. Now all the Brexiteers have to hope is the damage to the UK economy can be limited . EU has all the negotiating power and theyll make being in the EU more advantageous than not did anybody really think the UK would come out of this fiasco on top!? LOL

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Boris's team of Tory blimps must face the reality that time has already run out for a Brexit victory. The EU are now just kicking the ball around waiting for the ref to blow the final whistle. My champagne has been on ice for 3 years and counting.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Is this going to continue until "St.-Never-Day"???

No, it's going to continue until they've got it right, and kind of important things like the GFA aren't jeopardized.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

This is an indication of how the EU is going to decide a lot of things for Britain if it remains.

Hardly. The EU does not decide when the UK politicians get their act together.

Ya'll better vote in the politicians who will get Brexit done in the upcoming general election or you're doomed.

That's not how it works. The vast majority of UK voters didn't vote for the DUP and yet they managed to hold the UK to ransom.

It's alarming that Trumpists want to see the EU dismantled like Putin does. I wonder how they'd feel if we cheered on Texas leaving the US? Or Hawaii?

Michelle O' Neill of Sinn Fein has said that Brexit will bring about a united Ireland "within a generation", so I suppose that's one of the few positives to come out of the nasty business.

Although supposedly playing a passiverole, EU plays time to make suffer UK to show the rest of EU countries how painful it is to leave the Union.

UK's regions are imploding.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

What a nonsense. Britain is one of the EU’s largest trading partners, so a bad deal would be just as disadvantageous for other EU economies. Brussels is trying to avoid this at all cost

exactly which is why the UK parliament has made a no deal Brexit illegal, 60% of all UK exports got to the EU, nearly all of those exports will have tariffs attached once Brexit is finalised, then the fun starts when all thso UK manufacturers start moving to the EU, make economic sense to make those items in the tariff free zone where they're going to be sold. anybody want to place a bet that Brexit will worse off for UK manufacturing than advantageous!? Already placed a bet with another Brexiteer a few months ago, they've suddenly disappeared from these threads LOL

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The global entity EU is basically a liberal empire, with its HQ in Brussels.

Where are you getting this ‘global entity’ expression from? Fox News or an hysterical crackpot in a basement?

One fear many have is doing deals with the likes of ‘America First’ Trump and seeing the UK swallow whatever that disgraceful specimen puts forward as we are in a weak negotiating position. The UK at the mercy of Rump with Bozo is a horrific thought.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Even those who voted Brexit can't agree on what kind of Brexit they want

You’d be surprised at some who watch and read fake news/crackpot conspiracy sites/subterranean nutters/Fox News who still think the idea of mixed messages from the Brexit campaign was an invention of the media after the event.

Barking mad.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Well, instead of blaming Johnson, one should blame the Labour party. Labour is against an election for they would likely get hammered, so they keep voting against it. Which is odd, for Labour leader Corbyn opposed Britain's membership of the EEC, opposed the ratification of the Maastricht Treaty and he also opposed the Lisbon Treaty, so one would expect at least him to be really eager to make Brexit a reality asap. But they are hiding behind the pretext of a “good Brexit deal”, acceptable to everybody, so as drag things out and avoid any election.

After Bexit, even a no-deal Brexit, Britain will not “self-destroy”. What a nonsense. Britain is one of the EU’s largest trading partners, so a bad deal would be just as disadvantageous for other EU economies. Brussels is trying to avoid this at all cost, regardless of the threats displayed in public against Britain.

I always wonder what was wrong with the EEC? The EEC had as aim the economic integration of member states, not political integration and dragging corrupt pauper states into the EU, which is what people are opposed to. One can whine all one wants about Brexiteers, but back home in The Netherlands, the majority of the people also voted twice against further EU integration in a referendum. I could say “vast majority”, which it was at two thirds voting against, but in an election, they count the votes and just 1 person can make the difference. Only nitwits can’t get their heads around this. The French also voted against further EU mingling with their lives, but in both cases the will of the people was ignored. Further south they probably voted in favour, for the money flow has always been north to south.

At this point the people of the UK should be coming to grips with the fact that democracy isn’t a real tangible thing anymore.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The UK at the mercy of Rump with Bozo is a horrific thought.

Yep - that kind of talk is helpful.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

zichi;

No to Brexit. No to no deal. No to general election. Yes to PM Bozo should resign.

Well, so you want to live in an undemocratic, corrupt, Merkel/Macaron empire. Fine, that is your opinion. But the majority of your fellow citizens voted otherwise. Are you not a bit ashamed of the dirty tricks by the remainers?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

I doubt Brexit will ever happen in a meaningful way. All these games are designed to just keep the obfuscation going forever. Very sad that Labor and the LibDems refuse to accept the result of the democratic referendum.

-4 ( +8 / -12 )

zichi:

Well, so you want to live in an undemocratic, corrupt, Merkel/Macaron empire.

I disagree with your opinion and I would prefer to remain.

Sorry, can´t have your cookie and eat it too. Either you don´t want to live in an undemocratic, corrupt, Merkel/Macaron empire, or you want to remain. Can´t have it both.

Brexit will happen, after the opposition have finished with their games.
