One suspects that the usual suspects will suddenly rediscover fiscal responsibility and claim that the relief package is too expensive. But for love of God, don’t roll back the tax breaks to the tip 1% to begin to balance the budget!

Zichi,

As long as Melania has funding for her tennis pavilion......

You are correct, Trump has no interest in the welfare of his citizens. Not even his base.

Actually, Trump is not allowed to reside in the Florida location, but he has no regard for his contractual agreements. In return for a low tax rate on Mar a Lago, he agreed to keep it a commercial resort and never claim it as a residence.

Once again, as usual, he lied. The press is complicit in not reporting this.

As for Congress and the administration, 99% of them are worthless scum. This is not their money. It is the taxpayers' money - the people who need it the most now due to no fault of their own.

What the hell is wrong with people now to put up with this?

Peter,

Once again, you beat me to it. Trump is not allowed to use Mar-a-lago as his residence. If I were the local government, I would enforce that contract.

Hoyer, the Democrat, 81 years old shuffling a bill thru the Congress that benefits not the many or the common good. but the elite and the masters of finance. Moscow Mitch, 78 year old, blocking any efforts to expand the recipients of the government largesse in the senate. We the people. apparently meaningless drivel to these creatures of the night. Apparently, the Democrat controlled House is unable to finagle its way to a larger stimulus bill due to senior members of the appropriation committee, a committee the Democrats control. Welcome to the Biden years, strapped by a self-imposed austerity for all but the rich & powerful.

As for Trump and Mar-a-Lago, he entered into an agreement in 1993 with the Palm Beach city council, there is nothing to prevent its use as a residence, he would simply lose the tax status attached to it remaining a 'club'.

Watching the wealthy & aristocracy go tooth and claw over local ordinances in Palm Beach, might be amusing.

$1.4 trillion to prevent government shutdown; and $900 billion in long-sought COVID-19 relief.

Not enough at all, far from it.

You need at least $2 trillion for the pandemic's further relief and $1.6 trillion for the temporary funding fix to avoid shutdown. How do you get the money at the earliest possible time?
