So glad to hear that much of Asia is getting back to normal.
Here's to hoping that 2023 brings good health, prosperity, and happiness to all.

According to worldometer,
Covid19 deaths last 7 days in Australia are 147.
On the other hand, in Japan are 2294, It's worst in whole world.
But, LDP Kishida regime does nothing to rescue patients.
Fighto!
I've got 1 or 2 vices...but 108?! Anyone who manages to have 108 vices likely needs more help than a ritual bell ringing lol!

That photo, first thought “no thank you”.

Disgraceful. There was plenty of time to prepare. Seems the armchair 0-C19 fan club are in no mood to celebrate too. Tut, tut...

Yesterday, my neighborhood had two community service announcements about the bell ringing. Then, at midnight, the bell rang out 108 times. I’m so glad I don’t live near that flamin’ bell. Let me sleep!

The COVID restrictions and lockdowns attributed to more deaths than COVID itself. WHO states that there was 14.9 million excess deaths directly and indirectly associated with the COVID pandemic. So, with 6.7 million dying of directly from COVID, that means there was 8.2 million indirect non-COVID excess deaths. WHO states that the lockdowns were the main cause of the excess deaths because people were unable to get medical care and/or preventive measures due to hospital lockdowns working at a fraction of capacity. The solutions were much worse than the problem.

At least the bells are only once a year! Try living in any Muslim country where they blare out calls to prayer through loudspeakers multiple times a day through loudspeakers at ungodly hours.
108 vices… not a big fan of the Judeo-Christian model but I think pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony and sloth pretty much cover it. But I’ve seen some pretty effed up stuff in Asia so maybe the buddhists are more twisted than I thought lol.

That looks as much fun as watching paint dry.

I lived near a zen temple for 16 years and found the temple bell relaxing even when rung at 5 am.

Just happy the crazy drunk party that happens in Shibuya New Years Eve was cancelled again.
Keep wearing masks and stay cautious.

良いお年を、
来年も宜しくお願いします。
Happy New Year, everyone.
The mind is a powerful thing; some people believe that Sensou-ji gives them a better chance; they’re willing to wait hours in the cold because they want the gods to listen to them; we all have our prayers/wishes; you could say it’s all psychological but it’s not that simple.
I saw the images of Shibuya last night and I was like: seriously? Even if it was canceled, thousands of people were still there, just… walking around the scramble; … to each their own, I guess.
