Assad would not be in this predicament if his regime had been just and fair with the population. I do agree with him that other countries should stay out of the equasion. Libya ,Iraq Egypt and Afghanistan, all of whom recieved or are receiving assistance from sympathisers have shown little in iether democracy or life improvement for their inhabitants, since the fall of of the old regimes

I really hate that women and children so often get caught in the crossfire of adult male stupidity. Why can't they find the testicles to go away from the cities and fight in empty fields like in the old days?

I pray the day is near when Assad meets the fate he so deserves for the blood on his hands! Those who support him should take a good long look in the mirror, their days are coming as well.

Christina O`Neill:

" Assad would not be in this predicament if his regime had been just and fair with the population. "

Oh yes, he would. His regime was just as "just and fair" is possible in any tribal Arab society, with a large restive Sunni population pushing to take power.

The takeover drive by the Muslim Brotherhood (which has been going for decades) has nothing to do with "just and fair", it has everything to do with replacing the secular Assad regime with a Sunni Sharia dictatorship.

And if you think the Muslim Brotherhood regime that would replace him will be be one iota more "just and fair" than the secular Assad regime, you have a surprise coming.

It is simply mind-boggling to see how many people are buying into this naive narrative of the noble "freedom fighters" resisting the evil dictator. Have they all forgotten what happened when islamists replaced the Shah, Saddam Hussein, Mubarak, Ben Ali, and Gaddafi?

We have Shariah regimes sprouting all over the Middle East, women are subjected to islamic "purdha" apartheid, Christians and other infidels are persecuted..... and people are cheering on another replay of yet another Shariah takeover?????

How did the rebels get a video of the post-massacre scene with the bodies all lined up? It seems strange that the rebels control the area, then they claim that some other non-uniformed militia men, (purportedly pro-Assad but how they confirm that I don't know) moved in, randomly killed people and then ran away and then the rebels came back to "inspect" the scene. Sounds like a questionable chain of events to me.

Don't forget that the last video which the rebels conveniently provided to the press actually turned out to be 8 years old and from Iraq. The British foreign ministry seems to have forgotten that even though it was the BBC that first dished out the video to the world, only to retract it later in embarrassment.

If this massacre actually happened the first question that should be asked is who benefits. Especially since the rebels are desperate for foreign intervention.

And is it just me or are other people getting tired of fact that the whole world is relying on reports from one single source, the British-based SOHR. Can't they at least make another fake "activist" organization to dish out our daily "unconfirmed reports from Syria".

That's what all these dictators shout on their way out the door.

My guess from Moscow to Teheran to Beijing, them folk in power while torturing and killing their own people will do anything to keep old Assad in power so evil will continue night and day in poor wretched Syria, IMHO.

Not at all. In fact, judging by some of the comments on here and the "head in the sand" approach most people are taking, they dont even know that the SOHR or the London Observatory have nobody on the ground in Syria and are purely a propaganda machine. Anyone one of us could be as objective as them.

Its a disgrace that the worlds most-read media sources allow this group to not only exist but maintain credibility. They are fake, have no credibility and even the worst conspiracy theorist couldnt make up what these guys are throwing out. Yet so may people eat it up!

In these days of media saturation, you dont need to have any credibility to shift public opinion.

In Moscow Teheran and Beijing people at list not suffer from hunger (as in some special countries) and do not kiss the American boots ( nothing personal)
