Time for Assange to face his accusers. Go to Sweden, face the legal system then go to Ecuador and take his ego with him...

I wish Assange the best of luck.

I also wish there were more like him

There are lots of them. After all, there is a sucker born every minute and lots of them will follow Assange or some other .loser or cult leader and there seems just no end to them. However, they are actually a small (if very noisy) minority and are rather disorganized. The chances of any Assange sponsored political party or candidate getting more than a few hundred votes in any election is exceedingly remote, because most of his so-called followers probably wouldn't even bother to vote anyway. Julian Assange is just a legend in his own mind.

P.S. I bet hardly any of the people who claim Assange is some kind of hero never even read most of his "wikileaks," Whether he really accomplished anything I am not sure, but refusing to answer the accusations of sexual assault against him does not make him any kind of "hero" in the eyes of most people; quite the opposite. He looks like a lowlife criminal trying to evade the law.

The worst thing that could happen to him would be to return, answer questions, then have the case thrown out. He needs the people to think that governments are after him.

Tyr Bjoerdal, Assange said he plans to keep politicians honest, complaining about the stealth with which our elected representatives have worked together (often across party lines) to pass laws without proper public consultation. The be honest yourself and face the charges in Sweden.

I could not agree more. If the charges are bogus as some claim, then he should face them. They are serious charges that demand a reckoning. Sweden, hardly a "U.S. lackey", things that there is credible evidence. His claims of being unable to get a fair trial are farcical. He does not think that the law applies to him and he does not want to face the charges. That is the opposite of open, transparent.

In some respects I think that he is not totally wrong. But he's living in la-la land if he thinks that bomb-throwing equals governing, or that everything the govt does should be public.

Assange, cool guy,but what is up with that nasty white hair!!??Only 42 years old and with a head of hair as white as somebody 100??Not too sure if I can trust anybody with that color of hair!

Assange; the most awesome candidate ever!

And he presumes the British will just let him walk out to catch a flight to Australia? That's a laugh!

Let's hope he's arrogant enough to try, so he can finally be extradited.

Wikileaks is/was a good idea.....It's just a shame Assange is the leader

He is a fraud and hypocrite. This is just another stunt to keep him in the news. Wikileaks are not journalists at all - just some IT geeks who receive information from insiders. I hope Aussies see through ther whole sham. Pity his own ego and self promotion and flaws have adversely affected the original idealism of the Wikileaks concept.

“We will not accept legislation or government policy that is based on inaccurate, poorly disclosed or inadequate information. In this way our positions will always reflect fairness, good government policy and practice, and protecting the interests of all Australians.”

Wow, nice marketing....heh.

The charges in Sweden are insane.

I hope the Aussies have the sense to vote some of his party in, if for no better or more necessary reason, than to shake up the establishment of dishonesty.
