U.S. farmers sound wary.

And they should be. Only Trump's hardest core followers believe anything he says.

Smaller farmers are going bankrupt while corporate farms are getting subsidies, aka welfare/socialism for the richest.

Beijing insists, though, that its farm purchases will be based on consumer demand and market prices, pointedly implying that it won’t buy more than it needs just to satisfy the Trump administration's promises.

Yep.

As I've said before, this isn't a concession from China. I could get them to commit to buying based on demand and price. That's how the world works. Nothing special at all for US farmers.

The bad news for US farmers is that people will get duped into believing China will commit to buy more because of Trump.

If farmers voted for Trump, they did it to themselves

Beijing has rejected the accusations...

Beijing also committed to ending its long-standing practice of pressuring foreign companies to hand over their technology as a condition of gaining access to the Chinese market

I guess the CCP is just trying to be ironic.

Don't worry, they won't figure it out until after December 2020.

U.S. farm exports to China, which hit a record $25.9 billion in 2012, plummeted last year to $9.1 billion.

(as a result of D.Trump's policies.)

Now suddenly he expects farmers to believe it's going to skyrocket to $40 billion? ($50 according to the President). He is insulting the intelligence of farmers.
