''Renewed debate about gun laws.'' Debate, maybe, but nothing will change. When the next one happens, just cut and paste those words onto that story, too.
SenseNotSoCommon
Americans deserve better. The 2nd Amendment must go.
HonestDictator
Americans deserve better. The 2nd Amendment must go.
No the 2nd amendment is allowed to stay. It's the twisted interpretation that has to be addressed.
The 2nd amendment reads as follows:
"The right to bear arms IN DEFENSE OF THE COUNTRY.
The gun nutters ONLY see this:
"The right to bear arms."
So pretty much the 2nd amendment from the olden days to allow citizens of the US to carry firearms in the event of an attack on the US. And we can see just how far it's original interpretation has been reduced to "Durrrr, I want's to carry me a gun cos I like shootin' stuff!"
yabits
I don't believe the 2nd amendment needs to go. It's clear that few agree on what the amendment truly means.
For the record, I support sensible gun laws and believe better gun laws are needed. And I definitely support the Second Amendment as the framers intended it.
WilliB
I am agnostic about the wisdom of gun laws, but lets have a reality check:
Drugs are outlawed too. Do the "gun control" fanatics seriouslbe believe that banning guns will make them disappear? In what universe?
kwatt
Again and again,,,,America is cursed by guns and racists. It seems almost kinda war now. All people would need strict curfew from 6pm to 6am to avoid shooting. They still can have fun home.
MarkG
This may end up as an argument gone deadly. This was a teen activity with reports saying a 12yo was one of the shot victims. This is 12:30am, why are 12-14yo out then? Is there a curfew in FL?
With this being a teen gathering also a 27yo as another victim. I ask how old was the shooter?
Gun laws or not, this will wreak of lawlessness.
@kwatt.....absurd! USA is not cursed by guns or racists, just crooked poloticians.
Blattamexiguus
Allowing only the carrying of pole arms would be within the penumbra of the 2nd....the right to bear arms is almost as important as the right to bare legs.
drlucifer
Don't worry Dump Trump will figure out what the hell is going on and stop the shooting and make America safe and great again.
Wc626
It will never happen. The law abiding republican upper middle class won't give in. Seize guns in bad neighborhoods where there are drugs, several liquor stores, gangs, pimps, and pawn shops. Dealers shouldn't sell to muslims. The end.
CrazyJoe
Too many guns. It's time to well-regulate the 2nd.
MarkG
Do you think the gangs will submit to ANY regulations let alone gun regulations?
FizzBit
Obama has approved more global weapons sales than any other administration since WW II. He's one to talk about guns...Pfff.
That's right, it is also well understood that this might mean defending your country from its own government. It's not difficult to understand that America was ruled by the Brits prior to the revolution, and they were fighting against their own government.
DaDude
Being from L.A., a shooting at a nightclub would barely make the news.
MrBum
You said it. Crooked politicians that refuse to do anything about gun laws. But let's be real, we have a problem with guns and racists too.
The people stood a chance when both sides were working with muskets. If you think a citizen militia can defeat the US army, maybe we do need to increase the military budget. You're living in a fantasy and it's hurting the country.

What are kids doing clubbing at late hrsf the night? I didn't start going clubbing till I was 20-21. Kids should have house parties while their folks are out, as is customary in US.
Clubs often play hip-hop music, which glorifies crime and gun violence. Blame gangster rap, not the NRA.
MrBum
@Wc626
Yes, unenforced bedtimes and rap music (which hasn't been about gun violence since the 90s) are to blame for gun violence. It can't possibly be the guns.
nishikat
Where were armed guards (plural) there and someone with a semi auto crashed the place. Those semi autos have to go.
And one thing that amazes me are the pro 2A extremists on this board who trash gun control laws and gun free zones but choose to live in a country that is one whole gun free zone. It's really puzzling.
PTownsend
So when white thugs use guns and are violent, will you blame heavy metal, country & western or rock and roll? You should be aware that each of those genres has more than a lot of songs glorifying guns and violence.
I'll continue to blame the gun industry, its lobbying groups, and every gun hobby extremist who's unwilling to allow an open discussion to be held about the problems and who knowingly block research into the problems.
crouching$amuraiHiddenNinja
Wait where's BLM? oh right. they don't care if it's black on black violence.
nishikat
BLM is about wasting tax dollars on black incarceration when it is really not necessary. Racists whites should look at it from that angle since it is your tax dollars being spent on prisons.
MrBum
No, they focus on cases where the perpetrators don't face justice. But you knew that. You just had to get your petty little smear in there.
crouching$amuraiHiddenNinja
yeah well that smear is what the majority thinks.
nishikat
...Majority of ppl who believe that BLM's name is very misleading Again, if you were a white person who hated blacks and in the USA your tax dollars would still be wasted on black people being incarcerated at a much higher rate compared to blacks for pretty much the same crimes like minor drug offenses. Would you be happy about your tax dollars going to that? Cops kill anyone, but blacks are still getting put away unfairly and it would be your tax dollars. You hate blacks, fine. But what do you think of the costs of keeping them locked up unfairly? Away from their kids (so they may be locked up someday due to lack of having a father) and at a higher rate compared to whites.
crouching$amuraiHiddenNinja
Ok first of all when your arguing with someone, never accuse someone of being a hateful racist just because they don't agree with the politics of BLM movement. And never assume their being white ( THATS racist).
And second of all your argument that we're spending more tax money on incarceration against black vs white is completely wrong. There are WAY more white people who are incarcerated than blacks.
And also I suggested that a real BLM movement would deal with saving and preventing loss of human life in a wide spectrum of movements and you call me a racist? lol
*smh man you can't just win an argument by calling a racist for not agreeing. lol. one of the major reasons why so many minorities and liberals are turning away from supporting BLM.
nishikat
And second of all your argument that we're spending more tax money on incarceration against black vs white is completely wrong. Drug busts? Since around Clinton the black crack user was put away while the white cocaine user walked free. Child support payments that they CANNOT pay- and go back to prison for? Court fees that they CANNOT pay- same result? Among other things, I could go on..... It's a waste of tax money and they are better off being free if they are not a danger to society- working, being with their kids, not being a bigger tax burden. This is not about anyone stealing or killing. I understand that you think that blacks are inferior and it's your right to think that. But too much money is being spent locking them up and even the Republicans agree this needs to change.
There are WAY more white people who are incarcerated than blacks. General population vs. prison population ratios?
