*White House spokesman Jay Carney said the U.S. calls on the Syrian government “to cease and desist from the use of violence against peaceful protesters” and to “follow through on its promises and take action toward the kind of concrete reform that they’ve promised.”

In the U.K., Britain’s Foreign Secretary William Hague condemned the “unacceptable killing of demonstrators by the Syrian security forces.”

“I call on the Syrian security forces to exercise restraint instead of repression, and on the Syrian authorities to respect the Syrian people’s right to peaceful protest,” Hague said.*

AND what about some acknowledgement of the Shias in Bahrain looking for some PEACE & FREEDOM? Hypocrites!!

So, when does the UN no-fly zone go into effect? There are civilians being massacred in Syria; why is the US and the international community just standing by and watching the carnage. Come on President Obama, if protecting civilians was the threshold for intervention in Libya why not Syria? Or are the lives of Syrians less precious than those of Libyans? What a mess...

Seriously. Remember all these people condemning Bush for Iraq? Where is the same condemnation for Libya? Why are we even there?

There have been plenty of statements about the situation in Bahrain. You're just not going to find them in an article about Syria. The situation in Bahrain has been smaller in nature and hasn't generated as many headlines because of what's going on in other countries. Just because someone hasn't delivered them up to your PC screen for you doesn't mean they don't exist.

Wolfpack: So, when does the UN no-fly zone go into effect?

Do you personally support the UN getting involved in Syria?

Molenir: Seriously. Remember all these people condemning Bush for Iraq? Where is the same condemnation for Libya? Why are we even there?

I'm waiting for the "imagine if Libya were conducting airstrikes over your country" statements, and naturally the "no blood for oil!" signs to start popping up. Obviously the scope of the operation is different than Iraq, but this really is a clear cut case of protecting European oil interests. The US didn't get much in the way of oil from Iraq.
