Equally important and neglectful is the failure of Anthony to point out that after entering the South, the US military govt not only retained some Japanese police, they reinstated to power those Koreans who had been the administrative and security apparatus of the Japanese Imperial govt during their 35 year occupation of the peninsula, who had actively worked with their Japanese masters to exploit their fellow Koreans. This action bewildered and enraged the Korean citizens, and is the flash point which led to the outbreak of the Korean War.

Is there any need to discuss the details? It would obviously have been better if the US demanded all of Korea but at the time the Soviet Union was thought to be a responsible country in terms of foreign policy.

It is part of the massive demonization of the North which has been waged by the US through the mass media (several accusations, i.e. that certain NK officials had been brutally executed were proven to be complete fabrications when these same officials turned up at public events) for the past 70+ years.

Anyone who does their due diligence will find that what is popularly accepted as true regarding key details of the Korean war are not supported by the verifiable facts:

That's a nice pro-communist blub you got there. Why not post the source if you are going to copy paste? The fact is the "revolutionary" Korea would never have been successfully crushed if it had any kind of popular backing. Seems like they liked their dictators more than your revolutionaries. At any rate, it explains nothing about why the North had to resort to invasion to keep its revolution alive.

It's called scholarship, in this case written by Yumi Moon, an associate professor in the Department of History at Stanford University. She might have a slightly more informed perspective than you, seeing that she has to support her statements (strictly vetted by other researchers) with verifiable facts, whereas you just spout a bunch of trite statements here (i.e. "The fact is the "revolutionary" Korea would never have been successfully crushed if it had any kind of popular backing," when we now know that US-installed president Rhee felt so threatened by the popular anti-US revolutionary sentiment that he summarily rounded up and mass executed anyone suspected of being pro-left in the Bodo League massacre, in which at least 100,000 perished; when pro-US president Lee Myung-bak came to power he ordered an immediate cessation of the investigation into how many were actually killed) and never have to answer for how your hot air schtick actually stacks up against the evidence.

You all can gab about causes of the Korean War. But if you took a vote today how many South Koreans would want to see their country ruled by the Kim Regime? Because that's what's in the preamble to the DPRK constitution, the national goal of unifying the Korean Peninsula under North Korean rule.

You've missed the point altogether.

The military industrial complex (the one President Eisenhower warned us about in his farewell address)-driven US has led the brigade to put the North in a tight spot via the choking sanctions, war games etc. instead of working towards peace on the peninsula which Uncle Sam played an outsized role in ripping apart because a destabilized, hungry North has been worth trillions in arms sales.

Rather than resorting to the trite "Well I bet you South Koreans don't want to live under Kims regime" (South Korea's high rate of suicide and low Life Satisfaction rating tell us that things aren't so rosy in the South either; Squid Game and the movie Parasite also reflect this), a preferable and more commendable course of action would be to man up, take responsibility and actively work to clean up the mess the US has created.
