Idiot.

Morrison’s electoral area is bathed in smoke from fires around Sydney while he has been on holiday with family, in Hawaii!!

Then his deputy stepped outside party lines to admit there is a climate emergency.

Australia is leaderless without Morrison as much as with him.

What a blatant idiot.

Ask the Aborigines about the history of brush fires.

-12 ( +2 / -14 )

These fires have nothing to do with Climate change, various governments haven't kept up the burn offs that used to reduce the fuel build up, add on top the drought which has dried out more of the Country allowing a bigger fuel available - the people here making comment about climate change and the world warming up are they going to make those comments when drought ends and the rain turns these places into lush green fertile lands.

Ask the Aborigines about the history of brush fires.

Spot on, the local aborigines have known about these droughts, bush fires and rains for decades.

This is about mismanagement and corruption. A firefighter/activist said on Channel 7 that it's the system that's at fault and has been that way since John Howard started privatising everything. According to him, the Aust govt is working for big business/corporations, not the people.

Then there's the 1500km Darling river which is now empty because of floodplain harvesting. Obviously the land becomes that much drier when the usual sources of water have dried up through mismanagement.

Then there are the farmers, who should have a good idea what's going on. They don't blame 'climate change', (a catchall which anything and everything can be blamed on). They place the blame on govt corruption and policies designed to help corporations. It's almost like they are being deliberately driven from their land.

Even if there are more fires than in other years, these fires still need a source of ignition whether it be arson or thru a carelessly discarded cigarette.

He cares more about short term jobs than saving the planet. A smart leader would look at setting up new power industries built around solar and wind and retraining coal and gas workers for jobs in the new industries.

Jobs will mean nothing when the country faces worse bushfires and droughts in the coming years. We cant hide from it, we must take actions to deal with it.

Morrison is wrong when he says Australia can not make a difference. We can and taking concrete actions will help encourage others to follow suit. If Australia does nothing then we are fools. It looks like Liberals need to be voted out at the next election.

Of course they know about it, and they also know that climate change is doing things to the environment that have never happened before. These fires are bigger and worse than others. Anti-science climate change deniers like you are part of the attitude problem that humanity has to deal with.

Anti-climate change activist and Extinction rebellion groups are trying to prove they are right by deliberately lighting bushfires.

CFA said 90% of bushfires were started by human activities. I believed 99% of bushfires were started deliberately by teenagers and juvenile arsonists this years. NSW has 80 bushfires in the same times, which Australia never has. There are no lightning and no thunderstorm in NSW when bushfire started. Police has caught some firebugs age from 15 to 18 years old. Also, QLD Police caught one 18 years old firebug and other 10 juveniles firebugs.

I'm worrying about increasing bushfires this year and all of the fires were deliberately started by juveniles and teenagers arsonists. I believed it was the result of anti-climate change and Extinction rebellion activities in the Schools.

WA and NT have an average temperature 40'C - 50'C last month and this month but there were no bushfire.

Bushfire does not start itself unless lightning strike.

The left wing anti-climate change activists and Extinction rebellion groups are responsible for increasing bushfires this year. They infiltrate into School and they are brainwashing children with their mass Extinction and Global Warming propaganda in School in Australia. The followers of mass extinction and anti-climate activism are involved in starting bushfires and doing other destructive activism to prove they are right and the Government was wrong.

This is true.

I believed 99% of bushfires were started deliberately by teenagers and juvenile arsonists this years.

It is purely illogical to conclude this from the the CFAs statement.

But hey, hate has to be directed at someone. Especially if you're a denier.

It is not the number of fires it is the amount of fuel available due to long term droughts and the mega blazes that we dont have the resources to extinguish. There have always been fire bugs who start fires. But the results have never been this bad and they are getting worse. It is due to man made factors having a negative effect that accumulates over time to add to climate change making it much worse that it should be, or would be naturally.

We believed the scientist's on the hole in the ozone layer. They were right, and they identified the reason. It was use of CFC gases. The world took action to ban their use and the hole started to repair itself. But for some reason the deniers dont believe climate scientists on global warming. They believe their knowledge is better than scientists who have studied the problem for decades and have so much built up information on the changes and the reasons behind the change. To the deniers, how many years have you dedicated to study the issue? What sources of information do you base your stance on? Hearsay and guess work are invalid. If you dont believe the experts then why have them at all. It is their life's work. If your an expert at what you do and others dont listen to your advise on a subject you have worked decades accumulating experience on, how would you look at someone saying you know nothing and your wrong?

Get sensible and realise there are changes afoot and our species is at the heart of it. We need to enact somewhat radical changes to the way we conduct our civilization or we will lose it completely.

I, for one, do not deny that there has always been climate change on the planet. The Jurassic period was significantly warmer than now, but we are now in an interglacial during the continuing ice age. Yes, man creates impacts on microclimes, largely due to urbanization and redirection of water, such as the Ural Sea. Not CO2, which is plant food.
