Lockdowns don’t work, Australia. By the way, you do know this virus has a 99.7% survival rate?

You can run, but you can't hide from the virus. Just delaying the inevitable.

Lucky I wish Japan can have one of these lockdown instead of the Olympics

Australia doing better than Suga

Lockdowns clearly don't work - They've been at it for 18 months now. @Oxycodin - You really think this is the answer?

However much mess Japan is making of this, We will be out of it quicker than Australia with vaccinations in full swing.

These hard lockdowns should have been implemented worldwide over a year ago. Just like China did in Wuhan at the onset.

What Tosh. Until vaccines had been developed then the lockdowns would have been in vain. Always a leak.

Ah the medieval thinking that didn't work then and won't work now.

Do people really think by locking down the world in some unworkable way the virus wouldn't spread anyway?

Oh it would have slowed the spread as well as the urgency to develop and distribute the vaccine as people would be falsely lead to believe they have time and there was no rush, just like we see now in Australia that lived in an illusion that isolation have them time.

Now they are far behind in vaccination and in another lockdown.

Yes controling or slowing travel is a good thing but the only real solution is vaccination.

That quasi biological warfare needs exactly the corresponding quasi military countermeasures. And now we have some countries and regions who know or feel that too and react adequately, and we have the bigger majority of countries and regions who haven’t done and still don’t anything for almost 2 years now. Now guess, how that will continue to work out everywhere?

@Antiquesaving

Just the other day you said and I quotes "vaccine aren't a silver bullet"

Everyday you complain about Japan but Japan is doing a million plus vaccines a day.

Correct it is not a silver bullet and if you keep reading I also point out covid will be with us for a long time.

We can mitigate it's impact but we will not eliminate it in the way smallpox was.

This guy explains it well

He points out simply that with the vaccine mitigate when and how covid impacts and how we can deal with it, but vaccines are the foundation we need to get this done.

You like to take small things out of context to try and do some sad "gotcha" but fail.

What an effort. Highly, highly commendable! Hope they get their 40 million vaccines ASAP which they will use up with equal determination, in no time. There are only these two ways to handle this variant & the former not sustainable in the long run.

So are you suggesting we need to live with coronavirus?

Like most people are doing now in Japan? I.e vacations, mask wearing but otherwise carrying on daily life? Because your constant posts about long term corona don't indicate this.

Ah the medieval thinking that didn't work then and won't work now.

No, the type of lockdown done then that worked that wasn't done anywhere else.

Whatever it takes to bring back our freedom and lifestyle.

Just vaccinate! I live on the West Coast of Canada. We have a 84% vaccination rate for 12 and older, and our numbers are way down so are our hospital stays, and no deaths in the last 6 day's.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

On my post above we are down 95% positive case's since our peak in the 3rd wave. Proof vaccinations work.

theResident - Lockdowns clearly don't work

Are you serious? You should look into how few cases Australia has had over the past year. Then, you can watch the news to see how quickly this round of clusters disappears.

Absolute complete madness. No sense of perspective what so ever.

Galapagos syndrom.

@Do the hustle: They work short term at great cost. As soon as you open up, the virus unleashes again. Nobody ever plays 100% by the rules. Vaccination is the key. Period.

Just like China did in Wuhan at the onset.

oh, you believe that China has everything under control do you ?

well I have some property on the moon to sell you
