Looks like the rioters got their way. Good luck rebuilding and creating order out of the death, bad blood and chaos the revolutionaries wanted and have now received. History may tell you things won’t be easy!

And after they get independence, who's going to pay for the functioning education system, medical care system, social benefits etc?
You can't just kick out France and expect everything to keep ticking along as normal.
Chances are they'll all be far worse off independent than they are now. Are they really treated so poorly under the current French system?

Interesting selective outrage from UAGenocideFan.

How about China sending in an evacuation unit and trying to calm the unrest? Aren't they trying to make inroads into the South Pacific?

Your talking about French territory here. A nuclear power, not just a tiny independant state with no military. Although without being part of a European nation, China would no dout see rioting as an opportunity for a foothold there.

Little tough to invade what is internationally recognized as yours.

I really do not get what these Kanak geniuses want. They have French nationality with all the benefits that brings with it now. What kind of economy would support them if their islands became independent? I am sure China would be happy to jump in with some "generous" loans etc but that comes at a cost.
