Dutton is an ex Queensland copper, does the bidding of the right and mineral billionaires and plays to the lowest of the low among Australian voters.

Hence the "no Gazan refugee " rubbish we see here.

He is Liberal leader because the Liberals know they are in for a period in opposition, and presumably dont want to expend any "good talent " during these years.

Dutton has the charisma of an old, tatty, moldy/mouldy dishwashing sponge. He is a gift to Albanese because Aussies see there is currently no alternative to the Labor Party while Dutton is around.

This isn't just an Australian thing, it is much or the West.

Australia, Canada, etc... had to be embarrassed before they increased the Syrian and Afghanistan refugees and now again with Palestinians.

But opened the doors wide for any Ukrainian with Australia making an open offer for temporary stay to anyone asking (interesting only 11,400 took the offer) and Canada offering 500,000 with 200,000 taking the offer.

Compared that to Australia offering to take 12,000 Syrians eventually under pressure taking in 20,000 and Canada offering to take a similar number eventually under pressure taking 40,000 with similar numbers and situation regarding Afghanistan refugees.

But Ukrainians in safe European countries and not desert refugee camps get priority treatment.
