I have a total normal life here in Japan without any vaccination and mask

The difference being that unlike in Australia, when you act as if things were normal while being in Japan, your actions may result in other people's deaths.

So childish to not care about that.

You can do a lot when you took the proper precautions. Australia is in this position because while much of the rest of the world thought they could keep living lives normally, it was hunkering down, and has done so numerous times since, even when only ONE case came up. The other nations are still battling with wave after wave after wave because they want to have their cake and eat it too.

I congratulate Australia even though I don't think the same methods would have worked in Japan. In fact, 909 deaths is not that much better than Japan when you consider population size and elderly population size in particular is much higher in Japan. Japan could have done better to close the borders, for sure though.

Life is close to normal, but I find it strange you don't wear a mask. Almost everyone wears a mask, and certainly you must get the stink-eye every time you walk into a store.

@do the hustle

i know a lot about Australia & the fact that the government handed out a whole lot of money to both businesses & individuals helped.

But despite this financial assistance, many businesses still went bankrupt & many lives were destroyed

90% of Australia’s population live in cities. 70% is uninhabitable desert. Your comment is quite daft and has no relevance.

Oh dear. Back to geography 101.

Australia, NZ and Taiwan are great examples of how to take advantage if being an island to deal with a pandemic.

For the ones saying “Life in Japan is normal as well”.

It is, with the potential of getting infected anywhere, anytime due to lack of testing and contact tracing. The example of random cases of the UK variant in rural areas of Japan is a perfect example.

Australia did a great job. Early strict measures were hard but worth it.

Its people and economy is not collecting the rewards of the effort.

Well done!

Would say Japanese government should look at these examples of how to truly prioritise its population’s health and economy, however some things will simply never change.

If you live or travel to Japan and read the news, by now you already know the risk you’re facing.

Shoganai how they say here...!

didou - Remind me what is the population and density of the island ?

90% of Australia’s population live in cities. 70% is uninhabitable desert. Your comment is quite daft and has no relevance. Australia beat the virus because of strict lockdowns and border closures. You obviously know very little about Australia.

So many people were against Australia’s strict lockdowns and hefty fines for those who breeches the rules. However, 6 months later Australia is emerging. And, no vaccination

So many people were against Australia’s strict lockdowns and hefty fines for those who breeches the rules. However, 6 months later Australia is emerging from the COVID cloud. 41 days without a community transmission in NSW is an achievement few countries can boast about. And, no vaccinations!

So food mass consumption can finally begin. Lucky fish and chippies
