Well, considering that quite a few people in Australia continue to defy shelter in place orders, there must be another reason for the downturn in infection rate.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Sunday that "going hard and going early" seems to be working.
its not a popular decision at the time but he will be thanked latter,
Japan is going the other way, my analogy is the PM is like someone standing on a expressway railway line with a blind fold on, you can hear the train coming, you can feel the train coming as it gets nearer and nearer, your warned by your friends to do something, but your in denial that its coming, but yet you still stand there, and then with 1 second to go you take the blind fold off, but its to late! and there is NOTHING that you can do.

It was always an overseas problem, all the initial infections came from overseas which allowed the infections to be passed around locally, thankfully the numbers have remained low. The infections in Tasmania were initially caused by someone from Nepal studying at the University who was supposed to have been self isolating instead he went to his casual work then night clubbing.

And most of the infections in Australia have come off of the cruise vessels at berth, or foreigners ignorant of/intent on spreading this horror.
Trapped
Edit^^ I meant deaths, not infections.

Coronavirus: Manly beach closed after hundreds pictured descending on tourist hotspot
Several beaches in Sydney’s northern suburbs have been closed by NSW police after a large number of people descended on them earlier today.
Northern Beaches Council confirmed on Facebook that Manly, North Steyne, Queenscliff, Freshwater and Palm Beach had all been closed as a result of residents failing to follow social distancing rules imposed by the Federal Government.
