First Cuba, now China.

Well, I guess it is time to reveal to the world what a real laser is and evaporate those little man made islands in the south China sea. Those are in fact international waters.

Don't worry, it's just China promoting "peaceful joint development", "win-win cooperation", and the "correct concept of righteousness and interests". China has absolutely no desire for hegemony. Xi said so, so it must be true.

They're both pushing the envelope just short of starting major wars and they're annexing lands that don't belong to them successfully.

"An act of war"? Perhaps just as well for world peace then that the Aust Government isn't taking this incident quite as seriously as some readers here are.

Close your eyes while you're driving your car on the highway and see how long you can go before you crash. Now imagine doing that in a helicopter. This 'incident' could quickly escalate and needs to be take seriously. Next time who's to say that helicopter doesn't end up in the ocean with a dozen people on board.

A few Air-to-surface laser following bombs/missiles will solve the issue. Just need to get them working opposite from normal.

So you don't think a foreign country attempting to sabotage military operations is an act of war? If that guy pointing lasers at US aircraft was a Chinese agent instead of a disgruntled old man, things would have been very different.
