Mr. Abbott is certainly correct that there has been an "industrial-scale" cover up on MH-17.

And the point of doing so is?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

@Wakarimasen... they lost a lot of people in that incident... the Aussies need answers, as do those other countries that lost people, mine included. This was murder... and we all need answers.

Let's hope that it is confrontational and that there are cameras running because it is long past time for the world to humiliate Vladdie-boy over his disgraceful, lying, behavior which has lead to these deaths.

Tony Abbott should not Blame Russia or Putin for actions of rebels when his country is doing bombing in a country ,s civil unrest that cannot be won due to it is a religious war dating back centuries .. No government, other than, the rebel group and pilots fault from being in airspace of a war zone.

Can't we get someone else to corner Putin on this as a representative of Australia because Tony Abbott is a fool! He will only embarrass Australia and make us appear more stupid than the world already thinks we are.

Abbott needs urgent and serious medical attention, this guy clearly has problems with his head. His stubborn insistence with baseless accusations is really worrying. He should just talk to prime minister of Malaysia, this country has rather different view on the culprit of the tragedy of MH17.

he is not the brightest spark in terms of international politics which is largely due to Australia's geographical location. in spite of this his sentiment is spot on with the local electorate even though Pootin will slide out of it with interpreters and smirk

You can't have over 200 innocent people shot out of the sky in a civilian jetliner without someone being held accountable for it.

Putin supplied the sophisticated weaponry. The man himself is coming to Australia. I say confront him.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

What'll happen if, after Putin is shirt-fronted by Abbott, he judo-flips Abbott?

Putin supplied the sophisticated weaponry

Speed, do you have any proof? Or you just like Abbott, keep repeating old lies that even Washington now is reluctant to repeat? There was a good article at Japan Today

http://www.japantoday.com/category/opinions/view/flight-mh17-will-the-world-ever-know-the-truth#comment_1837651

Read it and think again who you should confront if you want truth and justice.

Abbott - the failed Catholic priest - would likely get beaten up by the average 12-year-old - let alone Putin, a noted judoka. All the "shirt-fronting" talk is just his desperate attempt to win some popularity. Whatever happened to his initial tough -talk that Putin wasn't even getting an invite ?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

“Look, I’m going to shirtfront Mr Putin - you bet I am,” Abbott told reporters

Is he politician or just a simple football player ?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

More power to him! At least it will challenge the "black is white" media in Russia to come up with false equivalencies like the one from Ron Barnes above.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

And the point of doing so is?

What a silly comment. Did you miss the fact that Australian citizens died in this barbarous act? And, as such, he has every right to confront the despot behind all the problems in the Ukraine. Putin may be invincible at home, where the media is forced to regurgitate all his lies. Good for him to learn that most of the world knows the truth, and that in some manner he and Russia will pay for his disregard of human life. And that someone has the courage to get in his face about it, and not hide behind political niceties like the Germans and the French.

"What'll happen if, after Putin is shirt-fronted by Abbott, he judo-flips Abbott?"

He will be shot dead by Commonwealth Police.

Putin wants to step foot on Australian soil, the visitor deserves the host some grilling answers - many Australian lives were lost.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

What a national embarrassment Abbott is! Threatening a head of state is responsible diplomacy? It's one thing to regurgitate the unproven allegations endlessly, but quite another to make physical threats based on manufactured "evidence".

There has indeed been a big cover-up; have you wondered why Kiev was bombarding the area of the debris fields and preventing the investigation? But if you want to believe the story concocted by Washington DC and their poodles, then go ahead. I prefer to see evidence first, which we still haven't.

I prefer to see evidence first, which we still haven't.

Did ya believe the evidence when Putin said those were not Russian troops on Crimea?

They gonna sell tickets? My money's on Putin.

wikipedia: (Abbott, age 56, height from web: 5' 11", 180 cm) was a student boxer, earning two Blues for boxing while at Oxford. Abbott was a heavyweight with modest height and reach.

wikipedia: (Putin. age 62) By 11 years old he was one of a few in a class of more than 45 pupils who was not yet a member of the Pioneers, largely because of his rowdy behavior. At 12 years of age he started taking sport seriously in the form of sambo and then judo. Putin won competitions in his hometown of Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), including the senior championships of Leningrad in both sambo and judo.

wikipedia: (Putin) Height 1.70 m (5' 7"); Rank Sambo: Master of Sports, Champion of Leningrad; Judo: 6th degree black belt, Champion of Leningrad; Kyokushin kaikan (a style of stand-up, full contact karate): 6th dan black belt

Did ya believe the evidence when Putin said those were not Russian troops on Crimea?

No, he believed the story about the Ukrainians mistakenly believing they were shooting down Putin's plane, or possibly the one about the "evidence" being lifted from a video game.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Yes we all know that Putin is good at holding his countrymen down and giving it to them without the courtesy of a reach-around. We are talking civilized debate here, which is something the Russians aren't too familiar with.

I am afraid of Tony Abbott being a chicken during face to face with Putin.

Here is a link to an explanation of what a 'shirtfront' is: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-10-14/shirtfront-tony-abbott-vladimir-putin-g20/5811502

I didn't know what one is until I saw this explanation, mainly because a 'shirtfront' is an Australian football technique, which is centered in Melbourne. I, like Australia's Prime Flat-Earther Tony Abbott, come from Sydney, heartland of Rugby League. Incidentally, Abbott made his thoughtless comment in Brisbane which is the other Rugby League heartland in Australia and also site of this year's G-20 summit.

Vladimir Putin is a world leader who causes some distaste to many people in the world, and Tony Abbott is arguably the most hated person in Australia though barely noticed in many places around the world. As leader of host country at the G-20, embarrassing himself with a good 'shirt-front' on the leader of a nuclear power, one of the world's larger economies and a country whose Mig-21 shotdown a KAL flight 007 all those years back, will just make a bad situation worse.

Abbott, talk to the Dutch and the Malaysians before you make an idiot out of yourself, again.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

If you think Abbot is an international joke, just check out his Foreign Affairs minister. Every time she opens her mouth nothing but venom comes out. Laughing stock internationally. As if Put in would give a rats about what these idiots say.
