THAT explains how these tyrants were elected- via fraudulent votes.
no Australia has compulsory voting, so the turnout is always high,
if you dont have a legitimate reason why you didint vote you can get a fine.
over 90% of eligible registered voters vote in Australian elections, yes they have mail in voting.
meanwhile countries like US Japan are lucky if they get 60%

So you are saying the election was fixed against the more left-leaning party?
That seems an unusual take from the conspiracy theory crowd - they tend to see the left as the ones up to that kind of thing.
The right and their nefarious ways, eh?

I have not gone to a polling booth on election days for over 10 years. This is in Australia there is something called postal votes! You can apply it online (it takes a bit of efforts but it is not rocket science) and the voting papers will be sent to you with a prepaid return envelope.

I worked for the Australian Electoral Commission one year, ticking people's names off the roster at the polling booth and tallying up the votes after the polls closed. Although the turnout is high, a not-insignificant proportion of the vote ballots had cocks drawn on them, rather than boxes ticked.

If you have a problem with needing an ID to vote, then you're clearly part of the problem with fraudulent politics!

Voting cards are already supplied to assist voting. You show your card to the official who marks you off the roll and gives you the ballot papers to fill in or not at your discretion, then putting them in the appropriate ballet boxes. That should be sufficient, but I have no objection showing my drivers license except the picture is not flattering.

Probably would have a Tik-Tok star as Prime Minister.

these are called donkey votes, but maybe rooster votes would be more appropriate

Why do I need to have a library card (identification) in order to take a book out of the library, but no ID to elect a leader of a country? If I don't have my library card when I ask to take a book out of the library and my request is denied, can I call that "reading or educational suppression?" What in the history of mankind (womankind, personkind, fluidkind......) is wrong with proving who you are when you vote?
Why do I need to sign the outside of my mail in ballot? Are the officials trying to match my signature with when I registered to vote to make sure it is me? Isn't this a form of voter ID? If there is no voter ID, then I, and anyone pretending to be me, should not need to sign the outside of the ballot envelope, no matter whose envelope someone is mailing.

Not surprisingly the far right fossil fuel baron Kochs are spending some of their billions trying to influence Australia, too.

I wonder how the Japanese political landscape would be if Japan also had compulsory voting.

Considering a requirement for an adult to have some form of identification when they are participating in a process to choose their government seems a ridiculously low bar to clear.

I do recall living in Australia getting a card sent to us with name and your address to vote, that we need to present to the ballot. They mark it off a register so I am not sure how this has any purpose.

there is no theft to support locking the diamonds in a case in a jewelry store and having to ask to view them/hold them.
Yet locked they are.
Its called theft prevention for a reason. Something that is valuable that a reasonable person could consider that would be stolen. Dont have to let it get stolen multiple times before you do something. There is no reason why someone should be upset to have to prove their identity when voting.

Australia is one of very few countries where voting is compulsory and you have to pay a fine if you don't. Yes, you can go and just get your name checked off the list and then don't write anything on the form, but the word 'Democratic' doesn't exactly spring to mind!

So this is a story about nothing other than Australian being behind other democracies? And only an issue because of Trump?

THAT explains how these tyrants were elected- via fraudulent votes.

So now, anyone can go and vote multiple times just by impersonating their friends, neighbors ?! They at least check that the name/address combo has the right to vote before accepting the vote right ?!!

Why would anyone bother committing electoral fraud when faced with a choice between the Coalition's "open the immigration floodgates and keep the population/real estate ponzi afloat" vs. Labor's "open the immigration floodgates and keep the population/real estate ponzi afloat"?

You need something to distract people from the slurry of covid related power grab laws that are about to start rolling through Australia.
