The shot is more dangerous than the disease.

False as not a single confirmed death has been reported from any Vaccine.

We know far to well the virus can and does kill.

somehow get Pfizer and Moderna to allocate production to other vaccine producing plants across the globe and let's beat this virus into submisison.

Not that easy.

From an ABC News Australia article talking just about this subject and why Australia isn't going to produce Pfizer.

"AstraZeneca is very happy to outsource supply,"  Professor Plebanski says.

However, Pfizer prefers to maintain its rights to the vaccine and manufacture it as well. "

Basically Pfizer wants full control and isn't going to let anyone other than Pfizer make it.

USA is thinking about sanctions on countries that don’t buy American company vaccines according to European news websites.

Link please.

It is reported by the BBC, that China has asked certain countries to cut all ties with Taiwan to more Chinese-made vaccines? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-56661303

"The Chinese government was very active in saying if the Paraguay government is willing to sever diplomatic ties with Taiwan, they will be able to get quite a few million vaccine doses from China," he added.

India says it has sent 100,000 doses. Paraguay has also received 36,000 doses from AstraZeneca, 4,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine and 20,000 of the Chinese Sinovac.

@Antiquesaving

I knew Pfizer would not give away the golden goose and neither will Moderna.

Just no AZ for me.

I will take anything not CCP or Russian

Really? Would you go for AstraZeneca??

@George Townes

Your do realise that Pfizer has had more instancese of blood clots than AZ but they are making a big deal because out of only this one type of rare clot which is very very few compared to the other possibly related clots.

Some thoughts:

All of those who reported with blood clots in the US were women. Women are given the same dosage of vaccine as men, even though they normally have about 60% of the body mass of males. Is it possible that the reason women, and not men, ended up with this blood clotting reaction is that their bodies received too high a dosage relative to their body mass?

When vaccines are eventually approved for children, will they also get the same amount of vaccine as an adult male? Or will their dosage size be reduced, to adjust for their smaller body mass?

The shot is more dangerous than the disease.

How dishonest.

That's 2 cases out of 700,000.

Here is a problem we may face as will Australia.

The present Vaccines are showing lower efficacy with regards to variants.

AZ due to the immunization vector it uses is far easier to modify to work on variants, this is followed by Moderna, Novavax and last is Pfizer being the most difficult to modify.

This according to The BMJ.

If J&J is similar to AZ then I am going to guess it can also be quickly modified.

Moderna is presently doing modifications, AZ is beginning that work though both will need approval.

Novavax ( which will be one of the Vaccines produced in Japan along with AZ) for now is not working on modifying because preliminary results are showing it has a fairly high protection level against at least the South African variant.

So we may end up with the choice of Pfizer that is not that good in regards to Variants, or AZ with modifications that work on the Variants.

So we may be left with the choice of lower protection and low risk of blood clots ( note blood clots have been reported with Pfizer) or we can get better protection with a updated AZ and still a low rate of blood clots..

But Health Minister Greg Hunt ruled out a J&J contract because its vaccine was similar to the AstraZeneca product, which Australia had already contracted for 53.8 million doses.

Let's hope that Japan can be as forward thinking as Australia. Japan should procure as much of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines as possible and forgo with ones that can lead to not just blood clots, but actual deaths.

I know I am just hoping against hope, but there are two highly effective vaccines (which none of us could have imagined this time last year) on the market that have proven to have over 90% efficacy. We should forgo all other vaccines and somehow get Pfizer and Moderna to allocate production to other vaccine producing plants across the globe and let's beat this virus into submisison.
