A deal is a deal.

I am sure they will all be Republicans and oppose further immigration.

They're going to California. Who cares. Liberal hell hold.

It should be "refugee swap deal" , the following is from a news article in July, 2017.

"Canberra pledged to take an unspecified number of Central American refugees under a deal struck with former US President Barack Obama late last year.

In exchange, Washington said it would accept up to 1,250 asylum seekers held in Australian immigration centers in the Pacific Island nations of Papua New Guinea and Nauru that Australia wants to close.

A group of approximately 30 refugees from El Salvador currently being held in Costa Rica will move to Australia in the next couple of months, the two sources said, with a second group of a similar size to follow shortly afterwards."

Your country in chaos/civil war/internecine strife/famine/economic meltdown.

What to do? How to save you and your family? How to escape and start again?

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free

Nah; this is the US. And that quote is fake news. Always has been. Bigly.

For Australia not to take those refugees their either individuals looking for a leg up and not necessarily genuine refugee's. But given how much money the government has offered them to go back to their country of origin, that seems unlikely. The other major reason is they are people who's background's are an unknown and cannot be checked. Meaning they're a risking proposition. Many probably hail from the religion of peace. The U.S has more resources, people and contacts to check on these things more thoroughly I imagine.

Might explain why so few have been taken by the U.S so far. It takes a long time to get the answers you need.

In 4 yrs, I hope the Australian govt taught those people skills useful in the world of today so they'd be productive members of any western society.

Since they are legal immigrants, I say WELCOME! Make a great life in the USA for yourself and your family. You can do it there.

Pro tip: flubbing your punchline by not knowing the difference between hellhole and hell hold (which is what, a WWE move?) just exposes the smug ignorance of the writer.
