Why oh why are they being stopped?

Relieve them of their passports and parachute them into the so-called caliphate.

Head first.

The questions is why are they educated in the West and wanting to join some terror group? Western governments dont care much for their minorities.

I think it's fairer to say certain minorities don't care for the countries that took them in.

Australia prefers to have the Jihad inside Australia. Go figure...

Agree with Madverts. Let them leave, just don't let them return. If the countries that took them in are so bad, then by all means please leave and careful the door.

which sparked accusations that authorities had failed to warn families their children risked being radicalised.

Eh? sure blame the authorities sigh! I think the parents should be the ones held responsible for this.

Have to agree with those who say let 'em go. Let them make their own choice, but make sure it is a one-way trip.

They should have let him go. Australia doesn't need scum like this.

Lucky kid. To live in a civilized nation that can save him from himself.

Let him go so he can go and kill Australians on the ground in the Middle East.

Should have let them go and denied them reentry. Why try and stop them they have already been radicalized. Now, they are a threat to the citizens of Australia.

The only way to ensure that they don't carry out their own private Jihad at home will be to either imprison them to try and detox them or assign a dozen officers to try and keep an eye on them.

There is no reasoning with religious fanatics hell bent on killing, they will kill!

The harmogenation of world cultures seems fraught with issues. Personally and perhaps selfishly I prefer to travel and discover cultures. With immigrants sprinkled all over the world we loose distinct cultures.

"The questions is why are they educated in the West and wanting to join some terror group?"

For many, a good portion of their education is Islamic. Their schools and mosques tell them they are different and superior and introduce them to the concept of Jihad, as outlined in the Koran. It's a very effective springboard ideology to toxic fundamentalism.

It's also a symptom of "multi-culturalism" in Western countries.

The question is How do you denied them re-entry? they are Australian Citizens, the only way to let them go and not permit re-entry is to exile them forever, however they are minors, and on what grounds do you exile them? Religion?

I just don't see is that easy "to let them go"

@Joice

No country can 'exile' it's own citizens. It's against international law to make anybody stateless....

Thanks @lucabrasi.

So how could deny re-entry of your own citizens?

"So how could deny re-entry of your own citizens?"

The UK doesn't allow British subjects to reside there if they have foreign spouses but dont have a job in the UK that pays a certain minimum salary. If they can legally do that to law-abiding people, then they can bar entry to killers and terrorists, I'm sure.
