Doxxing is a problem for many people not just the Jewish people.

As much as I support the Palestinian cause, this kind of action is just plain stupid. Not all Jews support the Zionist agenda. There are many Jews who are very much against Israel.

Why didn't they ban this before? Only now?

Very few nations have laws against "doxxing". They should : it is cowardly and dangerous, and targets those who have nothing to do with events on the other side of the world.

If any harm is done to any of the people on the list, those responsible for publishing it should be charged as accessories to the crime and certainly be charged with incitement. And yes that should be applicable to any case of doxxing.

> But that is the theme of the article. Why try and minimize this matter? Very insensitive and bordering on antisemitism.

Including other people is minimizing?

It's UGLY and it should be stopped, there is only one reason to publish the private or personal information of anyone and that is to do them HARM.

Those guilty should stop whining and wingeing: being doxxed is not the same as being bombed.

A civic duty? Jesus. Okay, if publicizing your private and personal information is no big deal, then how about you demonstrate by posting your name, address, phone number, email address, etc. here? You're not a Zionist, aiding and abetting genocide, or giving comfort to war criminals, as you say, so you'd have no problem being outed as an upstanding and all-around swell citizen right?

Author Clementine Ford, who was one of several activists who posted links to the leaked information, said that it shouldn't be considered doxxing.

Darling Clementine, eh? Is there nothing this far-left attention seeker won't do to embarrass herself? She's be the first to screech misogynist, racist, sexist, n@zi and whatever if anyone did the same to her.

Doxxing is very specific. Why doesn't Australia just pass privacy laws that actually make people and companies accountable for having any information they don't need?

Making intent matter is a poor argument for legally protecting privacy. Just protect privacy to avoid all sorts of issues that haven't come up yet.

Do the right thing Australia.

The doxxing of people may be a considered a civic duty and public service if it means outing those who are supporting the Zionist cause by aiding and abetting genocide and giving comfort to war criminals. Those guilty should stop whining and wingeing: being doxxed is not the same as being bombed.

The difference is this: The IDF is taking extraordinary care to prevent civilian injuries and death. Doxxing supports a focused attack on an innocent individual.

Another problem: If you're dealing with a list of hundreds of people, what are the chances that some of them aren't even Jewish? I mean, Australia doesn't exactly require them to go around with yellow stars of David on their lapels. Antisemitism acts are bad enough, but the morons who would attack someone from a doxxing list probably won't take the trouble to differentiate.

Not wrong, just “stupid”. In other words, you approve of doxing people you disagree with. Very illiberal attitude. (Go ahead and give this a thumbs down. That will teach me!)

Sorry if I was unclear. Posting online an unknown persons details that seems to fit the bill for an adversary in the hope that someone else will do something against them is stupid. If you want to take direct action against a scumbag (known scumbag) then do it yourself. And be prepared to take the comeback too.

I remember when certain women in Australian sports spoke out in their objection to trans-women competing against born female, they all got doxxed!

People showed up at their homes, place if employment, harassed them on the street, etc...

These were widely reported, but nothing was done!

Why wasn't something done back then?

Narrative.

Agenda.

There are 30000 dead Palestinians, mainly women and children who would disagree with your falsehoods!

Including other people is minimizing?

Obviously.

Unenforceable!

« Pro-Palestinian activists distributed a nearly-900 page transcript that leaked from a private WhatsApp formed last year by Jewish writers, artists, musicians and academics »

“This chat demonstrated extremely organised moves to punish Palestinian activists and their allies,”

You can’t win: if you publish the chat without the names, you are spreading unsubstantiated rumors and thus you are antisemitic; if you publish the chat with the actual names, you are doxing and thus antisemitic.

I am concerned that the political and economic elites in the world are strongly influenced, or bought, by Jewish lobby. However, I am not sure how action of revealing who are Jews and what they are doing would help the Palestinian cause. I wish those activists rather sharpen their criticism on Zionism if their intention is to contribute to securing sustainable stability and peace in the region.

You didn't answer the question!

Why now?

Certain groups with certain mentality on both the far left and far right and especially the cancel culture supporters have been doxxing people they disagree with for years now and no one did anything!

So again why now? Why only after this particular group was the target.

I remember after 9/11 all over the western world, doxxing of another group (including in Australia) was common, why wasn't it a problem then or why wasn't it urgent then to do something?

All over Australia and north America those perceived to support Russia have complained about doxxing but nothing was done!

So why now?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Nice idea but a bit disappointing it wasn’t done along time ago…guess those other people weren’t as important…

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Biden is reaping what he sowed with Israel, with his support of Israel, lots of Jews feel they are special and should not be held accountable for their support of genocide in Gaza

Let's look at the reason for this proposed action:

after pro-Palestinian activists published personal details of hundreds of Jewish people in Australia.
