One P-8 and one frigate? .....lol.....The entire USN 5th fleet is less than 5 minutes from total destruction if Iran decided to act. This is a joke!

Somebody needs to tell Trump that its time to throw in the towel. Obama understood this back in 2015, when he signed the nuke deal in a desperate bid to slow down an ascendant Iran. Iran is already a regional superpower with 6 Arab capitals kow-towing to its tune, much to the chagrin of the US. Trump too will bow down to Iran........just a matter of time!

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Well we (Australia) got sucked into something on the other side of the world in a bid to back up Trumps foolish warmongering. Lets hope the frigate we send is the one closest to retirement in protest.

A disgrace that Australia is involved.

No, because Trump cannot bow down to his zionist masters, regardless of the price paid by the US and others...

@Peter14.......Iran wouldn't do anything to any Aussie ship. Iran has no issues with Australia. This is just desperation on Trump's part strong arming countries into taking a stand against Iran..........clear as day that he's already lost the battle to Iran a long time ago.

Iran, Russia and China.

What an awful trio. Theocrats, thugs and despots.

Nasty stuff.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

@jimizo.......lol......Geo-strategically they are winning, in case you haven't noticed. The US is the loser.

@jimizo.......lol......Geo-strategically they are winning, in case you haven't noticed.

Still, countries led by theocrats, thugs and despots.

Not the kind of people you want to see winning anything. Repulsive.

Your list is incomplete.

Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, America (under Trump) and Israel.

All Nasty in one way or another and as despicable as it gets.

Good news. Glad to see this.

The way Trump is handling Iran, doesn't leave much to the imagination on the end result. It will be a huge embarrassment for the US just like the shot down drone, the three impounded UK tankers and a few years ago a dozen USN sailors who surrendered to Iran and had their video published when they were kneeling and crying.......lol

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

@lulldapull

The way Trump is handling Iran,

The only thing Trump needs to do is photoshop and deephack the Ayatollah’s face and voice in “compromising” gay activities and he’ll be thrown off the roof of the tallest building in Tehran. Problem solved. Iranian people liberated.

Australia is little America should have a star on the flag. Perhaps a yellow one. What possible benifit came come from being involed in the Middle East. How's that never ending war on terror going? Might be a lesson there. Stupid politicians.

Have you looked at the Australian flag? It has stars on it.

But not a yellow one, Nore stripes and that's a real problem for the government. Forget Greenland have all but bought Australia.

LOL America could not afford Australia. And yellow is the color for cowards and that is probably the one thing you cant call Australia. We fight along side our mates whenever needed, even if its not the right thing to do at the time like the current "coalition".

@Ike in Tokyo......lol......not to worry, Putin's got the 'Golden tapes' dept covered for the Chump from back in the day. Now there's a scandal for the right moment.

patently true ! I can't recall a war the US was in without Australia being there, right or wrong, regardless.

I agree.

Iran crushed ISIS and Al-Qaeda

Theocratic lunatics fighting with other theocratic lunatics?

What did they do? Throw stones at each other or do they keep those for the adulterers?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Ike-in-tokyo:

You would need to do this for the entire 88-member Assembly of Experts who appoint a new ayatollah, and the 12-member Guardian Council who appoints them. Almost like american higher education system - education Department to higher education board to accrediting agencies to the actual university.

Oh no poor Abes-san must be fuming with jealousy now Australia is stealing his thunder, how on earth will he fall back in grace with the command center in Washington now ?

The US Defence Secretary visited Australia a few weeks ago to deliver Washington's orders to the "Australian" Government and Australian PM Morrison will soon be going to Washington to receive further orders from Washington.

Over the last 24 months, the US has increased the size of its military base in Northern Queensland and is in the process of establishing another in the Northern Territory. Furthermore, there is "discussion" of establishing a missile base. These is the price we pay for the US taking 100 refugee from Manus Island. As ex-PM Turnbull told Trump, "We will be there for you many times.

I predicted that Australia will have a US nuclear base within the next 2-5 years. Our Government is making us a target under US orders. This is what happens when people give their government card blanch, when they fail to take control of their government and hold it to account. Without doubt, Australia is effectively the 51 state of the US. Australia has, for many years, wanted to be the deputy of the US.

Some serious drivel in the above paragraphs.

Australia takes orders from no country. as Australian and US society is closely parallel to each other they often hold similar views. But make no mistake, Australia (the politicians) does what it (they) think is best regardless of what the people think, or any other country. But if it gets you excited, then think Australia takes orders.

The US base base for Marine rotation was requested by the US and Australia and most Australians have no problem with that. The discussion for missiles in the NT are solely in the US at the present. I hope they do put some in as we need them.

As for a nuclear base in Australia within 5 years that's a big NO. Wont happen in your lifetime or mine unless we get attacked first and look like being invaded or destroyed. Most Aussies are anti nuclear. That will not change any time soon. 51st State? Not even close. But if you want to be a US citizen I suggest you emigrate there.

Will we hear the question, "What are they marching for?" once again?

And the band played Waltzing Matilda.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Australia the 51st state?

Never! The UK’s held that “honor” for years. And now with Boris the grasping Tory muppet in charge, our position is safely assured.

"Our contribution will be limited in scope and it will be time-bound," Morrison said, expressing concern about security incidents in the vital shipping lane in the past few months.

"This destabilizing behavior is a threat to Australian interests in the region," he said in a joint statement with his foreign and defense ministers.

Good on ya, mates. The Strait of Hormuz is of international concern. Iran can not be allowed to hold, or even attempt to hold, the nations of world hostage to Iran's sociopathic behavior.

Cogito Ergo Sum - patently true ! I can't recall a war the US was in without Australia being there, right or wrong, regardless.

I believe that you, and several others, have confused "the U.S." with "G.B.", or England when it comes to Australian loyalty. Australia fights along side Britain. The British and Americans have fought side by side in many wars (except when they were fighting each other in 1776 and 1812).

Australia is loyal to it's mate's. UK, America, New Zealand. We followed the UK into battle from the first Boer war until WWII. During WWII we stopped looking to the UK for protection and turned to the US. Both are still mate's and we would fight along side both when needed. Australia has fought along side the US in Vietnam, which the UK sat out. Nobody has confused anything. Australia back's it's mate's period. It is who we are, even when the cause is wrong or questionable. But we prefer when the cause is just and honorable.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Joining up with your “mates” down the pub to fight, when you perceive the cause as wrong, is questionable.

When it involves real fighting, where people get killed or maimed, it’s despicable.

Nothing at all to be proud of.

Iran will very quickly sort out the US if it came down to it. No power on earth can challenge Iran in the Persian Gulf! It will be over in a few minutes if the order is given.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Iran downs US drones almost daily, attacks the Sawdi's via its proxies and slaughters Western backed jihadists left and right. The Idlib province in Syria is next on Iran's menu, followed by the expulsion of US troops from the NE of Syria. Iran is winning this hands down.........There's no stomach nor the will in the West to fight Iran. Iran has defeated the US a long time ago. Anyone who doesn't see this is lying to himself:

Jimizo

I agree that Iran, Russia and China are illiberal nations run by nasty people.

None of the three are run by lunatics, however.
