What a "humanitarian help".

Scott.

What a "humanitarian help".

Humanitarian help, is basic needs assistance like food, medicines, coal for power generation etc.

Hope they send fully armed bushmasters. The computer systems are in English but may be able to have language package updated as these have been exported to other non English nations.

A good piece of kit for troop protection and fast movement of troops.

Well done Australia.

Exactly what makes Norway "a good country" and which countries are "bad"?

Well Fiji is a good country because the people are friendly and they do not attack others.

An example of a bad country would be Russia.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

Bushmaster is an excellent vehicle for mines and protecting troops, far better than the Humvee

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Excellent

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Humanitarian help is to send medicines, tents, food, water, blankets etc.

Not arms.

Sending arms to one side of conflict means to get directly involved in it.

Scott did you get it?

Scott you have just something completely /you know what I mean buddy/up.

I guess you have better job to do right now and right today,go to Lismore area of NSW and try to organize some help to your OWN citizens-some really HUMANITARIAN HELP instead of playing some kind of "cowboy" and bark on Russia from behind of some old rusty fence...and care about business you suppose to not be involved in!

Take care about problems of own citizens first!

Btw how are chinese doing on Solomons?

You may sent these carriers there instead to stop "chinese threat" but yes its already a bit too late?

Another your great "achievement" mate?

Earlier there will be elections in Australia-earlier you will be removed ot of power by your own citizens mate...earlier-better!And people will forget you same day...

If you don't think that the western democracies have freedom of the press, who does, in your opinion?

Doubtful it exists at all. It most certainly doesn't in Norway as it most certainly doesn't anywhere in EU or NATO.

Doubtful it exists at all. It most certainly doesn't in Norway as it most certainly doesn't anywhere in EU or NATO.

But you would agree that the press is western democracies is freer than in, say, China or Russia?

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Standing together they are far more capable of meeting the NATO threat head on and pushing it back

so Russia alone cannot defeat Ukraine, but together with Kazakhstan, they can defeat NATO ?

not exactly a glowing tribute to mother Russia

5 ( +10 / -5 )

so Russia alone cannot defeat Ukraine

Russian can use conventional weapons to defeat the Ukraine in hours but it would mean killing millions of people they mean to reunite with to fight against fascism.

But you would agree that the press is western democracies is freer than in, say, China or Russia?

Freer than China? Probably but debatable. Freer than Russia? Almost certainly not but debatable. The Russians have said unequally, they will allow EU and/or NATO media in Russia if EU / NATO countries allow Russian media but nope, EU / NATO not interested in that.

-10 ( +4 / -14 )

fight against fascism.

Who are the fascists in your opinion?

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Russian can use conventional weapons to defeat the Ukraine in hours but it would mean killing millions of people they mean to reunite with to fight against fascism.

I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like the Ukrainians are going to be in a very reuniting mood with Russia. Should Ukrainians be forced to unite with Russia against their wishes?

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Russian can use conventional weapons to defeat the Ukraine in hours

hmm, according to Oxford dictionary ;

Conventional weapons include small arms, defensive shields and light weapons, sea and land mines, as well as bombs, shells, rockets, missiles and cluster munitions

I am pretty sure the Russian military has ticked all of these boxes in their efforts so far.

Rocket artillery, fuel air explosives, heavy bombers are specifically what I was thinking about.

Australian bushmaster is a very robust military vehicle. Used by several countries not just Australia. Not a game changer but definitely a convenient way to get around.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Give credit where credit is due. Australia is now one of my admired countries besides America, England, Sweden, Italy, France, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, Mongolia, and Samoa.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Good for Australia!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Australia should be sending humanitarian help, but this isn't Australia's battle to fight with guns. The victims here are the average Ukarainian people. Zelensky, though, is little more than a corrupt anti-democratic gangster himself but gets portrayed as a hero by the fawning media and gormless politicians.

In my opinion, none of the major players is looking good. Of course Putin is the number 1 bad guy, but Zelensky, Macron, Biden or whoever is feeding him lines, the EU capos... aren't far behind. All a bunch of crooks. And now there's ScoMo trying to me-too his way into the big boys' club ahead of an election that he's in danger of losing to an even more derisible opponent.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

gets portrayed as a hero

yes, because not only has zelensky remained in the country, but he is down on the ground with his country’s soldiers & citizens. This makes him a hero.

& then there is comrade Putin, who is cowering away in his luxury bunker, scared of everyone

Humanitarian help is to send medicines, tents, food, water, blankets etc.

Australia and many others are sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Not arms.

Sending arms is to help them protect themselves from the murderous invaders. Australia and many nations are sending the means for Ukraine to protect themselves. Someone have a problem with Ukraine having friends willing to send them the equipment to defend themselves? I would call that "hard luck".

Sending arms to one side of conflict means to get directly involved in it.

Sending troops to fight for one side of a conflict is to get directly involved in it. Russia is getting weapons from China, is China directly involved in the conflict? No. Neither is Australia.

Someone is not happy Australia picked Ukraine over Russia. More "hard luck".

I guess you have better job to do right now and right today,go to Lismore area of NSW and try to organize some help to your OWN citizens-some really HUMANITARIAN HELP

Lismore is getting the help they need. Australia is capable of doing more than one thing at a time, help more than itself when there is a need to.

Whether Scott gets re-elected or not, Australia will keep helping Ukraine against Russia. That is a given.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Australia should be sending humanitarian help,

Australia IS sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

but this isn't Australia's battle to fight with guns.

Like the rest of the world, Australian troops are not involved in the fighting in Ukraine.

The victims here are the average Ukarainian people.

Yes, Because bombs and missiles and bullets keep getting fired at them.

Zelensky, though, is little more than a corrupt anti-democratic gangster himself but gets portrayed as a hero by the fawning media and gormless politicians.

And there it is, the pro Russian perspective that nobody but Russia believes for a second.

Putin is a murderous thug and a war criminal, while Zelensky is fighting with his people to remain free from Russian influence and rule. Zelensky IS a hero to many in the world right now while Putin is a coward.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

The gesture is well-intentioned and indeed helpful, but this equipment from Oz won't bring down Russian missiles, jet fighters and drones; the game-changing Western hi-tech needed to teach Putin a lesson is still in short supply, and it's needed urgently yesterday.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

By the time they reach there, Zelensky will have surrendered. Australia is better off accepting a million refugees. At least they're blond and blue eyed from a civilized country, so they won't be left to rot in far-away detention camps for years on end.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Pukey - let's see how well your prediction holds up! At least you aren't promising that Russia will roll over Europe and not stop until they reach Portugal!

By the time they reach there, Zelensky will have surrendered.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

And there it is, the pro Russian perspective that nobody but Russia believes for a second.

Get a grip. Calling out Zelensky doesn't automatically make someone pro-Putin. The issue is way more complicated than good-guy bad-guy.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

The Russians have said unequally, they will allow EU and/or NATO media in Russia if EU / NATO countries allow Russian media but nope, EU / NATO not interested in that.

Sigh. The Russians have also made it clear that if any of these western journalists call the war in Ukraine a "war" or "invasion" and not the required "special military operation", or if these western journalists write or say anything critical of Russia, its military or its leadership they are going to prosecuted and sent to prison for 15 years. That is not press freedom by any stretch of the imagination and no self respecting journalist is going to willingly operate under such restrictions.

Russia is getting weapons from China,

I would like to know where you found information confirming that. This isn't the 1950s when the PLA used almost entirely Russian equipment. The two armies diverged a long time ago and both use very different equipment today. China builds its own weapons to meet its own needs and dare I say it the Chinese equipment is often more advanced than the Russian equivalent. Anything from China being acquired by Russia will be obviously different and will require training to master.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

I would like to know where you found information confirming that.

Nobody is willing to "confirm" it.

Russia has asked China for weapons and munitions. That has been well published by numerous sources.

China and Russia's relationship knows no boundaries. That has been mentioned by both sides.

China continues its trading with Russia during this invasion.

Does anyone think that China will deny a Russian request? They wont give tanks or planes or ships, but they can send artillery pieces that need minimal training on. munitions of calibers common to both military's and guided munitions.

China will not confirm such aid until well after the conflict ends and Russia will not say anything either. Where confirmation will come from, I have no idea. But it is certain that as long as the Relationship between them remains, they will help each other as requested, when ever they can.

This site does a pretty thorough cataloging of the equipment lost on both sides of the conflict and includes the manufacturing nation as well. Looks like mostly Soviet and Russian-made, with just a handful of other nations. There may be a Chinese flag hidden in amongst the Soviet flags but there are too many for me to go through.
