Kids, or rather adolescents and young adults, can be very foolish. It is a good thing to publicize things like this. As a cautionary tale.

That title belongs to the country that only just recently made child porn illegal, but you can still buy manga depicting children involved in sexual acts.

Real child porn involves abuse of a minor, who cannot legally give consent. Drawn images involve no such abuse. Why should they be criminalized? And before you suggest that they lead to a higher incidence of child abuse - cite a single study that shows that link. If anything I would argue they reduce incidents of actual child abuse, by enabling pedophiles to channel their predilections into an activity that doesn't harm actual children.

You also need to explain why an exception to free speech should be made.

As Australian woman wrote a letter to Newsweek some years ago (you can probably find it in the archives). She simply said, "Having sex with children is as Australian as going to the beach." Well, she should know!

A full and complete education not handicapped by useless romantic notions such as innocence, purity and virginity would go a much, much longer way. Openness would save society and children a great deal of heartache. How could he have shamed and blackmailed children with nude pictures if nudity was common?

Um, the article fails to mention he immigrated to australia 20 years ago. Please do not paint Australians as kiddy fiddlers. That title belongs to the country that only just recently made child porn illegal, but you can still buy manga depicting children involved in sexual acts.
