So if celebrities etc go, is that tax deductible for them?

Uh huh. Very interesting. You can get the same thing in Bangkok, and the $370 includes the round-trip air fare.

i believe you, since you obviously have had many first-hand experiences in this subject matter.

I can see where you're coming from Scooby but as the article says, "its not based on morality". This is something within the bounds of human rights and consent unless the prostitutes are forced or coerced into the industry and "work".

On a moral base its easy to see where this can lead. The movie "Gamer" comes to mind as our world population increases every decade life will probably become cheaper and people will not care as much and do what they will to others and human rights will be washed away like toilet paper.

Just my opinion, but if you have to pay for it then somethings wrong. Smart folks know how to get it for free!

As for your comment that this approval comes with bribery, corruption and blackmail, maybe where your from yeah....

Your not suggesting that Sydney Council or any other Council in any part of the world is above corruption by chance?

"So I guess this means murder, drugs, kiddy porn or anything for that matter with consent is also OK"

Because an existing, legal brothel is allowed to expand you decipher that?

WTF?

So I guess this means murder, drugs, kiddy porn or anything for that matter with consent is also OK.

Consent would involve interaction between two or more people, I would think. Drugs are something an individual takes, so consent isn't relevant, I don't think.

Consensual murder would be quite rare, I think. Maybe you could argue assisted suicide is consensual murder, and many people do think it's ok.

Children are incapable of giving consent for sex, which is why there are age of consent laws.

scoobydoo

So I guess this means murder, drugs, kiddy porn or anything for that matter with consent is also OK. I know you don't want to hear this but brothels are immoral and undoubtedly one kind of vice leads to another. Its not unreasonable to think that councils approval for this business didn't come without bribery, corruption and blackmail.

Talk about misunderstanding the statement. This is purely about planning permission for the building extension. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the moral or legal side of prostitution. The brothel already has legal permission to operate. The council was merely deciding whether or not it could expand its building size and operation, and as long as it met planning conditions there was no reason to stop it. Planning permission has nothing to do with moral objections and it was rightly upheld. If people have a moral objection then they need to take it to those that issue the operating licenses and that is not the council.

with consent, moral objections to the proposal are not relevant considerations

"with consent, moral objections to the proposal are not relevant considerations.”

Strange thing to say. Not very emphatic at all. How about the person who said this send their daughter to work there. I remember being at a strip join and my friend saying, "remember that that is someone's daughter". Buying and using people in this manner just seems wrong. Slavery was pretty much wiped out until the Portuguese started trading in Africa, where it was trade and money was to be made. We saw what America did with slavery. History is not always progressive to the good. I see this as an attack on the dignity of women and a step backwards for person kind.

Very cool.

Uh huh. Very interesting. You can get the same thing in Bangkok, and the $370 includes the round-trip air fare.

And they even throw in a free STD for you. At least in these places in Australia the girls are medically tested and the industry is regulated.

So why can't Japan learn something useful like this?? This is what would help the Japanese economy too! LEGALIZE ALL PROSTITUTION now in Japan!!! Think of all the poor yakuza that would be out on the streets because they could not beat up and hurt their prostitutes and of all of the $$$$$ that could be collected in taxes!!! Heck the USA should do the same!

Well good on the Aussies. Embracing the sex-industry and mainstreaming it from the dregs of the street is a step in the right direction. $370 and hour is a bit steep, but at least it keeps the ladies clean and off the street.
