It’s a shame what’s going on in the world. I am sorry to say that the irresponsible partisanship in the media is encouraging the government censors. But let’s not forget what the press has become. They are in many cases huge corporations pushing an agenda via virtual propaganda. Just reporting the news isn’t as profitable and exciting as pushing for change- in whatever way the corporation sees fit.

It's about time. That scumbag Rupert Murdock has been spreading his sleaze and lies in Down Under, USA and more for too long. He owns too much and too big of a share of the media in all these countries and he is a greedy gossiper and a sensationalistic LIAR.

@burningbshu What a repressive and oppressive country.

Australia ranks 21st on the Reporters Without Borders world press freedom list. Russia ranks 149, Brazil 109, Turkey 157, Iran 170, Saudi Arabia 172. The global alt right attacks free, for-profit media in their ongoing attempts to undermine the remaining cornerstones of democracies.

Australia ranks 21st on the Reporters Without Borders world press freedom list.

Japan ranks 44th on the list.

Correction, on the 2019 list Japan ranks 67th

Seems the Aussies are aware of what is being attempted by the Morrison Government and are responding accordingly. I guess at 67th, Japan is not even aware its happening to them, and is taking no action to correct it.

Basically, censors all belong in a jail cell. The only thing that is not fit to publish is the details of people's personal lives unless those people consent to having that published. The rest of it is just information and if information is withheld (excepting that which works against the public good, which is private details only in non-war time) then democracy is a sham and we are but children being baby-sat by Big Brother.

A secret cabal controls the world, and all roads lead to Moscow.

Bingo! Thanks for honest-ing up. Now that it's known Moscow controls the world, that it's no longer secret, maybe the Kremlin's trolls can find work where they don't have to be devious pond scum. Best of luck!

@burningushNGO you place your unbridledfaith into isn't funded by the Russian government, or any other government for that matter?

Excellent point.

Glasnost Defense Foundation is a Russian NGO. It's a partner in the Reporters Without Borders organization. Given Putin and his oligarchs control most things in Russia, especially its media, given Glasnost Defense Foundation is Russian so therefore is probably controlled by Putin and his oligarchs, given Putin and his control the media, so Glasnost Defence Foundation can't be trusted, bringing into question the trustworthiness of Reporters Without Borders.

@burningbushOoooh. an internet ranking.

Actually in this case the information was published on the Internet by a very reputable organization. Or are you saying organizations like the Internet Research Agency can't be trusted. If so, I fully agree. But then the Internet Research Agency has never claimed to be objective. After all its state funded, skewing all messages to undermine nations having free, for-profit media. Which Internet Research Agency employees use to attack freedom of the press.

Here's some info on the organization that published the ranking.

Reporters Without Borders is a founding member of the International Freedom of Expression Exchange, a virtual network of non-governmental organizations that monitors free expression violations worldwide and defends journalists, writers and others who are persecuted for exercising their right to freedom of expression.
